A family is a building block of society. To have a family, a married couple copulates and bear a child of their own. Human reproduction is not possible with same-sex marriage.

It's not up to the people. The ban was determined to be unconstitutional. No matter how many more times people try banning it, the constitution (the document that dictates laws in our country, since so many people don't understand) will remain the same.

I think you missed the part about "as long as it doesn't infringe on someone else's rights." Shooting someone clearly violates their right to life and/or pursuit of happiness.

You know, I don't think I have ever heard a non-religious opposition to homosexuality except for some people that are concerned over the quality of life for children. Can anyone justify why homosexuality or same-sex marriage is wrong without quoting that Bronze Age book (the Bible)?

It's wrong because family code of california states that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid and recognized in this state. The goal of marriage is to form a family. A family is a building block of society. To have a family, a married couple copulates and bear a child of their own. Human reproduction is not possible with same-sex marriage.

Homosexuality is a disease which causes the parts of the brain associated with reproductive drives to produce feelings of attraction towards members of the same gender. Like alcoholism and pica (a disorder which causes people to think eating nails, pins, etc. is a good idea), homosexuality is a predisposition which can be aggravated by the environment. Children's exposure to homosexuality should be limited in the same way their exposure to addictive drugs or explicit straight sex is limited.

The "natural" aspect of homosexuality means nothing to me. Animals are not immune to disease or addiction. Some animals eat their own young, gorillas can become addicted to nicotine, and just because a dog humps a woman's leg without permission doesn't make it ok for a person to do it. Animals routinely engage in behaviors that are completely unacceptable for people. Simply being born with a predisposition for certain behaviors does not make those behaviors acceptable.

I always think it's strange when people say "What's next? Marriage to an animal?" I've met plenty of gay/bi people, but I've never met anyone who wanted to marry their pet. How does finally legalizing marriage between any two people pave the way for marriage between humans and creatures who cannot think or communicate the ways we do?
