this thing has usb, and you dont go back in time if you are looking for an actual computer. i had a windows vista laptop, i have to say from a neutral standpoint that vista and 7 are just about the shittiest pieces of software out there today. if you want to compare them then get a macbook with leopard. you wont go back to windows
vista is shit but i use win 7 and i love it i have never had to restart it nor have i ever gotten a blue screen of death and that in about a year and 2 months of use including rc use
i didn't like the RC but i got a new laptop with 7 (MacBook died and didnt want another one for just school) and i have to say that i love it. its reallyt stable and havent had any problems with it. should put up install video.
Windows sucks, ik. and hey, give em some cred! Bill Gates didn't get so rich from selling hot dogs (i dont thing O.o). Apple is still VERY Awesome, though i gotta say, i cant choose which OS i am, Mac or PC. If i could get a Mac, I'd put windows on it. That doesn't mean id only use windows. Mac is great! Mac OS 8.6, is not. (my opinion)
it was a mac plus 1mb that we had since i was born, but in about 1999 one of the capacitors that made the screen show up vertically went boom and it lit the thing on fire. it still worked, but we didnt bother to keep it =(
haha yes i love it its so stable and i found that the previous owner had photoshop CS7 on it and because it was made for such and old platform and this machine has great specs it runs like a dream! its swhat i use for photo editing now best 50 bucks i ever spent the owner didnt know what they had!
It seems a lot of the older Macs these days seem to take ages to start up. My iBook still does it. I replaced the battery and put more RAM in, and yet it can still sit at the grey screen before the happy Mac for quite a number of minutes. Does the computer have correct time? If not, the internal battery (if the machine even has one) could be on its way out.
the computer has the right time and is in very good shape. i have recently isntalled more ram and it hasnt helped much. its not like my life is depending on it
It looks nice. I bought an iBook with OS 9, and I did the upgrades to 9.2.2 over the net. If you like OS 8.6, however, I'd keep it, it's very similar to OS 9, which is basically just the integration of 8.6 and At Ease, so...
Most iMacs and iBooks take OS X well with a RAM upgrade, but there are some, like myself, who just aren't interested in OS X.
I take back my comment about being not interested in OS X, too. Mac OS 9 crashed so much I decided to try X, and have since loved it. Ah well. Times change.
Yeah, I've heard 8.6 is very stable. then again, some say that about 9 as well, and it crashed about once a day for me. I'm currently in a crowd of software updates for Panther just now :S
There are for classic Mac OS. Around 60-80, just not any in the wild yet for OS X. Still, you don't need to run that crap on Macs anyway as the file system keeps itself organised.
8.6 is very stable. I have another account, TechVideos2566, where I post my computer videos. I have a Power Macintosh 5260 with OS 8.6 and a Power Macintosh 5400 with OS 8.5. My 5260 has not crashed since my family bought it in 1996.
cool vintage. I usually recommend changing the clock battery & reseting the prom so it may startup faster,
you should look into MathLibMoto, speed doubler, Conflict catcher or hacking the finder with resedit to run 2mb ram and add stability so it'll run faster
I still use once in a while an old 603e 200mhz with a sonnet g3 400 card + 144mb ram & OS 9,1
i hate osx. the old macs are better. i did do some work inside, it didnt help much, but the time is suprisingly acurate, so the battery isnt much of a problem

Well, that's because you're retarded. of course a modern computer is better than a mid 90s antique.

it isnt antivirus. it is a dick defragmenter and a checker. there is no viruses on a mac!

i think i just run norton on it once a day and that takes care of it. it works while doing email or something
jasonisroxursox 4 years ago
Norton? AAAH!! you never need to run an Antivirus on a Mac, never! Oh dear...
meisinscotland 4 years ago
its not norton antivirus. its just a disk defragmenter and checker on it and it usually finds a lost file or too. ther are no viruses on a mac!
