  • I LIKE YOUR GUITER !!!!

I CAN SEE MEXICO-CITY JUST LIKE ANOTHER WORLD FROM JAPAN....

  • Man, you just have the same musical taste as me. Whenever I try to look for any of my favorite song, you are just there too.

And, yes. You nailed it this time too.

  • As a fan of the great Donald F, and a fellow musician with ears like tuning forks, Mr Reichbart, you have got this simply perfect. The chords and voicings are true and beautiful. The whole song is captured with a warm heart, and played deliciously. A demonstration in near perfection. My hat is on the floor.

  • Man! You make it look so easy! Thanks for sharing.

  • Hello Jake, Great job!

Your systme of playing the guitar forced me to learn it.

You may check it. Just put Palo Medar in youtube.

    Thank you

  • thanks for a great rendition...try to hang on....all of us~

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • this brought tears to my eyes! Just amazing. Thank you SO much!

  • you have got "the right things" inside of you!!

  • Please do Fagen's "New Frontier"! I think it would be so beautiful!

  • A gorgeous song, composed by Donald Fagen, our own Cole Porter, of our generation. Beautiful!

  • Brilliant guitar work!! Maxine was my favorite Donald Fagen. I tried to understand its chords and each voicing again and again, but it was so complicated that I could not do it. Thank you for posting!!

  • The one "dislike" thinks that jazz playing is a horrible metal guitar with a clean channel on his Line 6.

  • great stuff

  • that is so hot! you have a very nice quality to your playing

  • Simply beautiful! Wonderful tone and interpretation.

  • Truly Inspirational rendering of a wonderful song. Thank you

  • Those chords will haunt me for days. I've never heard it covered with all it tenderness and encouragement kept intact.

  • Excellent! :D

  • Too beautiful for words!!!!! do you think you will ever come to New Zealand anytime?

  • Thanks! Boy, I wish I could come but I don't have any kind of organization to put such a trip together (arranging gigs, hotels, etc.). Perhaps you could do it...?

  • Very nice rendition of one of my all time favorite Fagen songs man! Beautiful work!

  • amazing playing

  • You nailed it!!!! Beautiful!

  • Thanks!

  • Smooov

  • Wow! great playing. I realise how complicated this tune is

  • Just fantastic!!!How can u do that jake???

  • Thank you for all your very nice comments! I will be in France late July in the Perigueux area and will have a few gigs, stop by...Also, while these SD videos are ok, please look at some of my more recent videos for much better sound/video quality. Thanks!

  • Some say that we're reckless...

  • @fuzzfactory They say we're much too young hahha but I'm old

  • Alright dude...

  • This is Killer. Great job!

  • great music making there (i think i'm one of the only 14 years olds in the world who would actuly like music like that)

  • WoW!! Wonderful arrangement, skillfully played!

  • Beautiful!!! Thanks for this Jake. G'day from Australia

  • te las mandaste amigo!!!!!!!!

    saludos from chile!!!!!!!!!

    impersionante!!!

  • Absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had studied and practiced harder in my 50+ years of playing. This is awe-inspiring....and at the same time, for me, very depressing.

  • Thank you for the very kind words! And not to be so cold as to turn a nice compliment into a sales pitch, but I do have a remedy for your depression... ;-) a real nice DVD guitar lesson showing how I play this arrangement and much more. Please let me know if interested and thanks again!

  • This is Beautiful. You are a master. Thanks for posting this.

  • Beautiful rendition!

  • Awesome man! I sent a video response with my version..

  • I love this song. fantastic job my friend.

  • This is... incredible. Thanks for posting!

  • mexico city-ahhhhhhh...this is beautiful guitar friend...super nice.....so perfectly jazzy....masterful chords...sacred geometry?

  • Very nice played! but if you have a gibson, please use that next time!

Its not that this ibanez sounds bad or something, it just looks nicer!

  • Lol I couldn't stop myself from singing along.I really love this song, thanks.

  • I'm highly compressed!

  • Wonderful, concert-standard performance - Joe Pass would be pleased to hear it...

  • Thanks very much!

  • very nice jake come and check out mine but different genre, jazz is my favourite but too hard so i stick to easy genres for my videos

  • stunning.

  • All right comon play for me!

  • oh my....there's magic in this....I remember listening to this song on the highway, night...getting closer to the city..heat on in the car...being lulled into this dreamy space, floating at that sparkling horizon. I forgot that moment until now, finding this video...thank you, Jake...really....perhaps I'll visit the instructional video, but for now, I think it's time to listen again..

  • This is why I'm selling my guitars. After years of playing. I can't even Touch this!

  • Hey keep at it don't give up. I brought a couple of Jake's DVD's & it has improved my playing in only a matter of months. All the old stuff I use to play is now so easy I have jazzed them all up. I feel its not the years you put in - its the quality of the learning and even taking small steps at a time playing with quality in mind will set you apart from what you had done before. Keep at least one guitar, invest in a DVD from Jake & in two months it will be like one year, Adam from New Zealand.

  • Bravissimo!

  • Fabulous.

  • Amazingly wonderful. Indeed you should publish this. The arrangement and execution are impeccable! Great Respect!

  • Thanks, if you know a publisher please let me know!

  • really really nice! wow i love this song. i love the album.

  • Great playing! A five star.

  • Brilliant!! very inspiring!

  • One of my all-time favourite songs, beautifully arranged and performed. I'll be watching this again...and again...and again...

  • I am very interested in the DVD. I am a huge Steely Dan/ Donald Fagen fan.I love your arrangements and would like to learn from one of the best!

    Thanks, Rick

  • Thanks, I replied through your channel, take a look.

  • hi jake,

sorry i'm late to the party but just ran across your video of MAXINE. great stuff. it's one of my favorite fagen songs but never heard it that way. you are truly blessed. be well my friend.

  • Thanks!

  • classy, tasteful - brilliant... you should publish this arrangement

  • Hey Jake,

A lovely array of great equipment behind you.

So you choose the epiphone and what amp?

  • awesome, man!

I have alwais been interested in this tune, but I tougth it was too difficult to arrange for guitar, maintaining the original sound; but you've done it. I thougth the same with Jaret's "My song", but Methny has done a very good cover in "Une quiet nigth"...

Congratulations; (and I'll keep on practicing...)

  • Anyone who appreciates this tune enough to have gotten inside it like you have is worthy of high praise. Nice playing, nice interpretaton.

  • Wonderful arrangement! True to the wonderful original but with lots of personality too. Love the chromatics in particular!

What equipment do you use for that sound? It's an Ibanez, but what do you amplify it with?

  • Thank you! I use the regular pickup on the Ibanez AG75 through a Yamaha DG Stomp preamp direct to the computer for 99% of the sound. I also have a Fishman transducer piezo pickup on the bridge for a little extra brightness.

  • never realized how reminiscent this song is of Julie London's version of Cry me A River with the great Barney Kessel on guitar.

  • Really, REALLY Nice! Wonderful Rendition! Bravo!

  • Damn good and sweet ! As a fagen's addict .. This work is really nice. More ;)

  • really nice

  • Maravilloso! Donald Fagen rules!!! Great playing dude!! Beautiful! Caramba!!

  • Thank you! I plan to upload a few Metheny tunes for solo guitar in the near future, please stay tuned.

  • Absolutely perfect, Not just technically. It's clear that you know and love that tune inside out.

  • HI Jake, Nice arrangement. What model Ibanez is that?

  • Thank you! I'm enjoying your channel as well and I suggest all my visitors check it out. The guitar is an Ibanez Artcore AG75.

  • Beautifully played, you're a talented guy

  • One of the most beautiful songs in the world, by the greatest living 20th century American composer (imo anyway)...done beautifully, as usual in your own way.

I'd love to see you do Snowbound off Kamikiriad.

    5 stars as usual!!!!!!!!!!1

  • check out the Harold Arlen songbook...Jobim, and Waits.

  • You're amazing! Do you have this tabbed? Would love to learn your version.

  • Thanks so much! From my Youtube profile: "Thanks for asking about TAB's! Unfortunately, all my arrangements are in my head and as I come from jazz, they are not even exactly the same every time I play them. So no, I don't have any TABs for the moment. The only way for me to share my arrangements is either a private lesson, seminar/class or video lesson which I am wiling to try for a fee. Please let me know if you are interested." Thanks again!

  • Hey again Jake. Have you ever heard of Tuck Andress? He's a great fingerstyle jazz musician. Also, I would love to hear you some more on youtube. Be safe!

  • Of course! As I mention in my profile, Tuck Andress and Joe Pass are my main two influences as far as solo guitar goes, I consider my style a blend of both (if not in quality). I just uploaded "Change The World", check it out. Thanks!

  • Hello Jake! I recently had the privalage of seeing you perform live at U of M hosptital, with Five Guys Named Moe. You do great guitar work, and I hope to see you perform again sometime soon. Best of luck!

  • Thanks. I hope you don't have much reason to be at the hospital but i will be back there in the lobby for a solo performance on September 4, 12-1, as well as duo with sax gigs on July 22 and Aug 26 at the cafeteria, lunchtime. Beyond that you can see me at my weekly gigs at The Earle, Eve - The Restaurant and The Whitney in Detroit. Thanks again!

  • I was at the hospital because I went with my brother for his physical therapy sessions, but he actually wasnt scheduled that day, so as a result, my mother and us were able to see your amazing and fun performance! I have been listening to your Cd with FGNMoe and like the first 3 songs so much I havent been able to move on yet! Thanks for the reply, it means alot coming from a busy guy like you. Hope to see you soon!

  • I like the idea of playing different guitars. Some of your instruments are interesting. Would be great to hear what you think about each of them in addition to hearing your great playing. Thanks!

  • Absolutely brilliant. Truly an immense talent. I'm a big guitar fan (the instrument itself i mean) so it would be nice if you played some of your other guitars just to take a look. Do you have any customs? I have one custom acoustic and am working on my second.

  • Thanks! I have some 25 guitars for different styles of which I use regularly 6-8. I'm focusing for now on solo guitar because I'm in discussions about a cd/book deal in this format and I want to build up my exposure. The other conceivable guitars for this style would be an old Gibson ES175, which actually doesn't sound as nice, and a Godin jazz which sounds great but is very heavy. So for the moment wer'e stuck with the Ibanez. As soon as I add styles you'll see other guitars. Thanks again!

  • Oh my God Jake-That was absolutely the best ever!! I just love this arr't-beautiful chords etc-lovely runs!!where does it end--thanks mate-your a good friend.

    Cheers

    Paul.

  • You were one of the first to post nice comments for my videos so i decided to reward you with a song of you choice. Where does it end? Well, it ends for a few days anyway, I have some massive car issues... As soon as that's resolved I hope to resume the videos. Stay tuned!

  • another great rendition!

  • That sounded real sweet!

  • very nice!!!

  • Man, that was beautiful.

  • This is one of your best, really captures the spirit of the late 50's that defined "The Nightfly". More Fagen / Steely Dan works please.

  • Great arrangement of a beautiful piece! Fantastically played!

  • Fantastic! I learn so much watching your vids.

  • Thanks everybody. It's only been an hour and already all these comments... Plenty more in coming weeks and months.

  • This one made me smile.

    Just smile.
