  • wow, sped up like that its like your cutting butter with a hot knife o.O

if you dont mind me asking, what kind of animal is it?

  • @intelpowered It should have been a coyote, but as you may have understood, it was never finished :(

  • @furrtek why dontcha finish it now?

  • @BJDDollfieVlogie Lost the motivation, but completed a gryphon head recently. You can check out the vid on my channel.

  • Where did you buy the white foam you cut??

  • t only took you 4 hours to make that fabulous foam head?! it took me 7 days to make less than half of that lol

  • So that's just scrap foam? How did you get it?

  • @HyperFoxIII - most foam stores [for beds and things like that] will sometimes have scrap foam they carry in the back, you just need to ask. Where I live, there's a place called The Foam Shop. [exciting I know] and they sell it for $1 a pound. Some places WON'T sell scrap foam. The best way to find out is to phone and ask first. :3

  • While I personally dont enjoy fursuits, I love how the end product looks and the amount of time and work put into it is mind blowing. Grats to you sir. <3

  • song?

  • @CrtlAltDlt Jaia - Passenger

  • @furrtek ty <3

  • Do you do commissions?

  • No, sorry. I don't have time anymore for that.

  • @furrtek Awe. Thanks anyway.

  • i was thinking about a idea and i searched youtube and you look the most expeirienced (pardon my spelling)have you heard of the morphsuit or zania suit because i was thinking of crossing a fursuit head/random parts from my room with the suit can you tell me if i should do it and what would i need

  • ou trouve tu c'est gros cube de mousse ?

  • @chopperqc Y'a une petite entreprise qui fait de la découpe de matelas sur mesure à 100m de chez moi. Ils me donnent régulièrement leurs chutes (blocs ou tranches).

  • This is good. I could use this for reference! Is that okay?

  • There's certainly a better way of doing it, but go ahead, it still works :)

  • that was pretty cool too bad there's not another part its really helpfull

  • how are you cutting the foam so neatly without some sort of electric or heated knife?

  • are you useing a ninja hood? and what is the best way to make the head of the fursuit..

  • awesome!!! How much did this all cost on the end?

  • I spent around $400 for my first full fursuit. That's only the price for a few feet of fake fur, a good glue gun, and foam.

  • how much is the ski mask thingy... forgot what they were called o_O

  • Balaclavas are quite cheap. I get mines for $8.

  • Kool really kool any tips for me cuz i want to start a fursuit but i dont know were to start

  • wow dude you lost part 2!! shame but this was really helpful too awesome job ^_^

  • Glad it helped a little :)

  • so wheres part 2?

  • I'm sorry but I won't make a second part soon, I lost the raw video for it and I don't have time to make fursuit heads anymore.

  • Whats your opinion on making the heads with clay like materials, things qarrezel uses to make them with qarrezel deviantart . com

  • What kinda knife is that, where did you get it, and how much did it cost? D: My knife is a freakin turkey carving knife.

  • It's an old kitchen knife :)

  • ive waited 2 years now... where is part2 dude`????

  • It's lost forever :)

  • dose the balaclava keep you cooler?

  • It depends of the fabric of the balaclava, though.

Mine is in whool and keep warmer than cooler XD

But if it it in lycra, that should keep a little cooler.

  • thank you :D

    and loved the video

  • interesting, but looks like you have a hell of a sharp knife. I don't have anything that could cut through foam like that.

  • That's amazing!!!

  • nice job i just got my body finished i got stuck by the head XC

  • wow, ur pretty handy :)

  • Thank you! Finally I learned our to make the jaw move alittle.

  • I have been trying to find someone to help me, but I want to know where can I find foam to carve a head from? I can't find any at the Home Depot or any art stores.

  • have you been to joanns? the last time i was there they had a huge selection of foam

  • i got a camping mat from a local supermarket xD

It works pretty well.. but you cant add much shape to it..

  • Try Jo-Ann's fabric

  • i like the song i will be making my first fur suit soon

  • where is part 2? :S

  • Very interesting to see you work.

Im trying to ideas for my own furry head. I see that you posted comments previously about 'part 2' have you been able to edit that movie as yet, i'd love to see how it turns out?

  • cooooooooool

  • He's using Upholstery Foam I believe, and the technique is called Balaclava. PM me for the tutorial website.

  • I want to know what foam you are using.

  • what kinda foam are you using? brand? density? ect ect...?

  • Is that a ski-mask that he is using as a base?

  • hay you cant use latex it dosent breath trust me if tryed it made me sweat super bad

  • hey send me tutorials i want to make a foam furry head and i cant

  • Okay, give me your postal address and I'll send you 8.7Gb worth of tutorials, printed on cardboard ;)

  • what song is this?

  • "Passengers" by Silicon Sound and Jaia.

  • trust me, the amount of foam he used was not 50 lbs.

  • well thats kinda sort of in a way pretty much obvious dont u think? i wuznt sayin it wuz bad or anything, i was sayin its probly just easier to have sumtin dat fits over yer body, not makin a whole work of art... and i didnt mean to say latex,, yeah tat wud kinda suk, but u know wat i mean.

  • HI STINFREY!!! =3

  • um hey with making the eyes can you make eyes you can actually see through? or are you looking through the mouth or muzzle?

  • They use a screen or mesh the you can see through when it is right next to your eye, but that can't been seen through if it's not.

  • thanks

  • Does anyone know where I can buy open cell foam, besides walmart?

  • um I got some from a camping store in big blacks for like tent beds or some sewing stores have it if you live in nevada reno in particular there I giant sewing store down town with everything you could imagine and if they don't have it they order it for you

  • My dad could never understand why I am making a fursuit and I for one don't feel like explaining it to him or family because most likely what my family will try to do is make me this is psychic and should trying making a fursuit. ( JUST REALLY P*SSED ME OFF !!!! )

  • I know how you feel. My family believe I'm rebelious... I disagree (I'm just... different :3). They like meat, I don't. They like god, I don't. Ask me why I make a fursuit? For funs :3

  • First of all, I'm already done with the mesh of my head, but... I don't understand how you can be making one without a mesh. Then again, if it has a static jaw then it'd be easier. I'm currently a bit lost on the eyes, simply because I'm worried that I won't be able to make them look real enough... AS for foam, I have 1.5 inch small mats, as I'm going to use as little as I can because foam doesn't breathe very well. Mnn, well, this is my first head so I wish you all luck, but my advice is: mesh.

  • hey do you know if there is anything, like a book or a website that can show me how to make a fursuit head?

  • Um, I believe the book "Critter costuming: Making Mascots and Fabricating Fursuits" by Adam Riggs, should help you.

  • What do you need to do the 3d eyes? I'd like to see more.. Im like just beginning in making fursuits and I'm just looking around for ideas.. I havnt found any tutorials or how to stuff yet so im kinda learning from observing.

  • Me too. I don't even know where to start @_@

I keep thinking I'm not going to be able to do it cause I have no idea what people are doing half the time.

  • check out my videos!! i put up a tutorial for 3 d eyes

  • how long did it really take for u to make one

  • I'm about to start Fursuiting can you give me any tips, pointers, what really good things to get anything to help. don't worry about the price I do have a lot of money to spare. ;P

  • Try being careful what materails you use... You may think something looks good, but does it kill you with heat stroke -most probably!

Like in the video try to use a manaquine head -when making the head- and a base made of an old balaclava or breathable materail. That usually helps :]

  • Well plan b is add fans to the suit somehow ! =D

  • lol! One of the things I consider, but I'm very accident prone and don't trust myself with anything electronic.

  • Thats why I try to use lion of the sun as a good artist to get( steal ? ) ideas from !

  • Heck, any ideas are better then going in head first (play on words tee hee) and coming out with a rubbish suit.

  • wow. i always wondered how these were made

  • Dude... that's sick. Sick music, too. And sick shirt.

  • sweeeeeeet! what kind of animal are you makeing!

  • A basic fox :)

  • Wow! Are you a expert? Good movie, I luv furries <3

  • This is just a hobby, I'm not selling anything.

  • What are you gluing the pieces onto? It looks like some sort of black bag you put over a dummies head??

  • Can you tell me where you found the yellow foam and what it's called? I've searched every craft store and WalMart and can't find it. Thanks!

  • hehe i know where i can get it but im in norway. soo i cant use anything els then yellow foam. or as it is called in norwegian skumm gummi

  • Ah, thanks anyways! ^-^ I found some. =P

  • thats really awesome! its good to see work in progress videos!!

By the way! witch song is that that you are using in that Video?????

  • Thanks ! The soundtrack is "Passengers" by Silicon Sound and Jaia.

  • That song is so trippy. Good work, my friend.

  • Thanks :)

  • Where do you get your foam? I've been looking everywhere, and I can't find any. Not anything that's not overpriced, anyway.

  • yeah I want to know that too. Because that's a heavenly amount of faom you got there.

  • It's a local supplier, they cut out mattresses and give me their remainders.

  • that's awesome! maybe I'll find an old matress somewhere.

  • Can you message me with some info on how to make my own fursuit or a site that is very explanatory, and where to get most materials... generally speaking? (i so badly want to make my own)

    ty

  • Question: What are you using to cut the foam?? O.O.... i used fairly blunt scissors and it KILLED my poor hand ;_;.... i heard of using an electric knife or a blade, but i cant seem to find a blade sharp enough, and dont know if an electric knife is the way to go or not! XD

  • I'm using a meat knife :]

  • Your back must have been absolutely screaming after that :o

  • It was already ruined before that ;)

  • That's exactly what I was thinking!

  • lance, you rawk!

  • lance ?

  • This video is all very well and good, but are there any videos for ultra newbies to fursuiting/mascot-making? I have never attempted it before, but I want to make a costume for a convention, and would like to watch a video of a step-by-step process of making the head from start to finish, narrated if possible. Anyone know of any vids like this? If so, please PM me with the link.

  • whene you bond the foam, i find if you mix a solution of 3 parts contact cement to 1 part watter, the glue wicks into the foam makeing a sronger bond. the water dries up leaving the glue deep in the foam! just don't us this mixture in places you want the foam to freely move, like whene connecting the outerjaw to the bottom. hope i can help!

  • I watched it but I still dont understand how you make the eyes move, coud you tell me?

  • i know the answer to this one ^^ the eyes are concave in the head, not the usual convex, pokey-ouy shape. the pupil is placed in the centre of the convex eye, and when placed in the head, when youturn, it appears as if the eyes follow you- kinda cool and scary at the same time--- hope this helps!

  • it does, thanks.

  • ....the eyes dont move its an optical illusioin, the eyes are further back into the head and the pupils are slightly further back, creating the illusion that no matter which way the suiter moves it or from what ever angle you are looking at it from itll create the illusion that the eyes are following you around

  • What animal are you making?

  • hey great Video. this is Dia, owner of LJ Fursuit on Live Journal. Please Share this link there! :) I cant wait to see your next section!

  • when are you gonna do part 2 man

  • I gotta learn how to build a fursuit sometime in the near future, but I wouldn't know where to begin learning since I would have to learn from square 1.

  • the best place to start would be ears. put them on a head band or something. if you want, i can send you a pattern. just send me an email!

  • Wow! I can see why fursuits can cost in excess of a $1000 dollars. There is an awful lot time and effort put into them. Is it just as difficult to build the body?

  • very interesting... I've been planning on making myself a wolf fursuit for a convention Im planning on attending... I think this video has given me new inspiration for it (dont worry... I DO NOT copy!) over and out love :3

  • How much would all of the materials cost to make a suit?

  • How much would it cost me to have you make my fursuit of my fursona? I am only asking thats all.

  • A full fursuit will be like $700, but you don't want to buy it from me anyways ;)

  • can you make me one too?! i has the moneys ^.^ pleaaaaaaaaaaaaase?

  • Sorry I don't take commissions anymore: no time ;)

    Aim for a professionnal builder.

  • very interesting seeing how annother person does it.

i start with chunks of foam and coat wires.

i do it peice by peice.

how are you cutting the foam ?

  • you need a workbench. you're gonna blow out your knees working like that.

  • Well, in fact my knees are fine, but my back is already dead. I just set up my electronics workbench and I'm still searching space for the fursuit one.

  • i have the same question that every one in here wants to know where is number 2 in this series?

  • Not edited yet, it will be up here before september.

  • Where did you get the foam? I have looked and looked, but cannot find any...

  • I live in France, there's a foam-cutting company in the village ;)

  • That's ne fair pas... ehem... So I am assuming that you speak French? Sorry, off the topic, mais j'aime le francais : ). Is there anyway that you would consider selling some of your foam? I know that shipping (I'm in the States) would be tough, but I bet that others (even around you in Europe) would be interested. You could make a fair amount of money (for more crafting) while helping other crafters : ).

  • It may sound weird but in every city I lived, you could buy foam at less than 10 miles from my house... Maybe it's not as easy in other countries. I'll look up the shipping costs for the States.

  • Merci!

  • I love the song, and this video is pretty cool, neat camera angles as well! Good luck on your suit!

  • If you havent started it yet (Start now!!!) could you film the hands / arms first please? dunno if i have the cash / effort to make a whole suit but arms would be cool :D

  • I'll film it before september.

  • That's looking cool, I'v been wonting to make a fursuit for A long time but I have no clue wear to get the materials to do it, Wear do you go & how much dose something like this cost?

  • Is thst some sort of Silicone or Styrofoam your using? (damn my spelling)

  • How long till the next part, it looks really interesting :)

  • Before september ;)

  • Pretty wild, but don't that get darn hot? Mine have an air gap and fans to move the air in and out.

  • There will be one fan in the muzzle, and another fan with a peltier module on the top of the head.

  • where is part 2?

  • btw, what is that song!

  • Ditto, I wanna know xD

  • It's a collab between Silicon Sound and Jaia, the title is "Passenger"

  • I need to build something like that for a robot I am working on.

  • I really need to have a new fursuit made, I miss it.

  • TRippy,^o^ I keep getting tunnel vision! Great vid though, quite an interesting concept....

  • Thanks, next part will be up next week.

  • That's really cool! What kind of knife are you using to cut that big block of foam? I'd KILL for something that cuts like that. (I'm a fursuit maker myself. XD )

  • It's the biggest kitchen knife I found, it's long and cuts really well. And when the blade starts to get used, you can use the sharpener ;)

  • trés bonne initiative ;)

  • Could you please put up the whole 4 hours,it kind of confusing because it`s too fast.

  • It will take too much time here on youtube, but I'll make an real-time edited version available on E-mule once all the parts done.

  • Ok,I`ll wait.

  • Technically speaking, couldn't you download this, put it into a movie editor and slow it down to 4 hrs?
