  • Wow, I've never seen this incarnation!....Sorry if this has been asked and answered, but what year was this aired?, I'm guessing 1982-ish....many thanks!

  • '84.

I'm surprised you didn't know...it was on your network, after all...

  • Aw man...I loved Gene doing his Old Man Periwinkle impression it was always classic. God bless ya Gene, thanks from the bottom of my heart for all the laughs you, Brett, Charles, Betty, and everyone else brought me all those years.

  • My answer to that would have been either CPR, an ambulance or a lifeguard.

  • Another answer I would have thought of would be asprin since Old Man Periwinkle probably had a headache from being on that waterbed.

  • The NBC affiliate in St. Louis (KSDK, Channel 5) never showed the MGHS Hour due to its commitment to the noontime news show. The MGHS Hour wound up on another St. Louis station (KDNL, Channel 30 - then independent, now an ABC affiliate).

  • The NBC station that I got on my cable system, WLBT-TV Channel 3 out of Jackson, MS did not show this program, instead showing reruns of "Dallas". I was disappointed but the way MG-HS turned out, it was just as well.

  • I used to watch this everyday, on NBC TV. Interesting how NBC f*cked 'the match game'. Even the music, while the celebrites are writng their answers.

  • i love Gene Rayburn's Old Man Periwinkle impersonator. I love CNR say "Yo, Gene." By the way, where's BRETT

  • Brett Never appeared on this version of Match Game

  • Brett must be retired from Match Game after the show off the air in 1982, but in the early 90's, Brett return Match Game as a guest panel. CNR is the regular panel of The Match Game in early 90's.

  • The problem was that, despite the high ratings, MG-HS was never intended to be more than a stopgap until Santa Barbara was ready...it's a shame.

  • High Ratings?!?!

  • I actually met Jon Bauman at the New York State Fair, and as he autographed a photo for me, and said it would make me happy, I said to him, "I don't know about you, Mr. Bauman. But another thing that would make be happy would be if GSN added "MG-HS Hour" to its line-up." Then Bowzer chuckled and replied, "We'll see."

  • It was funny. Too bad NBC stations didn't think so, as some of them replaced it midway through it's run.

  • this show was too damn funny to get replaced by a stupid soap opera

  • Gawd I miss Gene Rayburn.

  • I will try to post some this weekend, It will take some time.

  • I agree, need more of the 'MG / HS hour'.

  • Great to see Charles and Fannie on the panel...too bad Brett wasn't there, she would have made an excellent center square for H.S.

  • More clips are coming soon! stay tune or even subscribe to my video posts to get up to date info.

  • does any one have more episodes of Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour

  • Old Man Periwinkle is 102 years old.

  • Thanks for the post! I'd never seen MG/HS Hour before. Any future chance of posting the whole episode?
