  • Does anyone know the background music we hear about 0:15 to 1:20 or thereabouts ?

i've been youtubing the artists ' Ogi no mato ' and everything i can think of, anyone ?

    - Gaff was an underused character too.

  • @paulgardinerbass It's from the soundtrack to the movie, track is called ""Tales of the Future".

  • @MrCrazyeyesdave Thanks for the help mate .. great stuff, its very atmospheric.:)

  • That's Castillo from Miami Vice! :D

  • Finally I get why the people in the alley screamed in German "The cops are coming" (Die Bullen kommen - Bullen being colloquial)_ They wanted to make this city international, I was wondering for such a long time

  • Frak. :O

  • I like how the script used Gaff’s origami to let the audience and eventually Deckard know, that he’d been under surveillance since the first time he met Rachael. That underscores the bogus M.O. given to Deckard at the very beginning at his briefing to his question, “I don’t understand why, why do they risk coming back here?”

He is told “more life” an increasingly obvious eventually proven lie, so that he’ll shoot to kill on sight without further reflection.

  • Besides Roy, Gaff was the character that stuck in my head the most after the movie ended, especially in the Final Cut.

  • Edward James Olmos an awsome actor !! City speak is comming true !! 2019 is only 8 short years away..

  • "I could care less."

  • @rleeh333 I love Edward James Olmos, but I HATE when people say "could" instead of "couldn't". The expression is "I couldn't care less" because "I could care less" makes no sense in that context.

  • I love his wardrobe with the bow tie!

  • There is no more beautiful, perhaps even perfect, movie than Blade Runner. How can anything else compare favourably to it....it can't. My god I love this film!

  • hey, horse dick,you the blade...blade runner?

  • so say we all!!!!

  • ADMIRAL ADAMA

  • he is ADAMA!!!!!!!

  • "Lófaszt.. Nehogy már. Te vagy a Blade... Blade Runner" - Thanks Eddy, it always make me smile when I hear it in the movie. :)

  • "Lófaszt.. Nehogy már. Te vagy a Blade... Blade Runner" - Thanks James, it always make me smile when I hear it in the movie. :)

  • I always saw that Gaff giving Deckard an origami unicorn could hint that Deckard's memory's are actually Gaff's ( Deckard is a replicant with Gaff's memory's as implants ) y'know Gaff knows Deckard Likes Unicorns because he himself likes unicorns but what do i know

  • Gaff's origami unicorn of course clues us that he knows Deckard is a skin job.

  • Edward is one of the most underrated actors of his generation.

Tis a shame he didn't win an oscar for "Stand and Deliver"

  • The thing is though, Gaff's part in the film is huge!!! Why does he let Deckard duel it out with Baty on his own, when the film implies he is following him all along? The characters motives are so enigmatic. He's plays an intriguing part in the story.

  • So say we all!

  • launch the vipers!

  • Gaff is awesome

  • anyone know where I can find EJO expanding on the conceptual connection between Blade Runner and BSG Re-imagined???

    He say you Brade Runnhar..

  • nowhere, there is no such connection

  • does E.J.O like origamis?ah,ah....I've remembered him so far as chief inspector in TV "miami vice".From now on I'll remember him as Gaff...

  • Gaff, IMO, is the most interesting character in the film and it's mostly due to EJO's performance..

  • @jksonny I couldn't agree more. The reason? Most of the main characters are Replicants, or at least implied to be so. Deckard, Rachel, Tyrell, Baty & Co. Gaff is real, he's a man and a mysterious one at that. why does he let Deckard duel it out with Baty alone, when it's implied he was following him all along? I think he knows Deckard is a Replicant, If Deckard fights and wins, he'll remember it. Gaff is, basically, giving a replcant the gift of real memories. Cool guy eh?

  • @IfIfsandands Definitely. All of Gaff's actions are shrouded in mystery, which makes him all the more intriguing. I think much of his behavior is the result of being surrounded by replicants and not trusting anyone or anything. Gaff's world makes him cautious and suspicious, like an animal trying to survive in the wild.

  • I would have to concur with the artistic acting genius of Olmos in this picture.

Olomos understood the "cultification" of the future from 1982 to 2019 that would occur "naturally".

For me, Graff is the centre of gravity of Blade Runner. The film is actually about him, because he is the human watcher of the proceedings.

Remember, he is always there after Deckart fights, he make the origami's.

Graff is us, in the future.

  • I think Edward James Olmos is a great artist. I also think he's just a great person. He hasn't forgotten were he comes from. He is kind of a hero in our community. He has helped out young aspiring artists from the neighborhood who had it not been for him lending a hand would not have been given a chance simply because where they come from or can't afford a school of arts or a place to shine like "THE GUADALUPE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER" on the West side of San Antonio, Texas. We're proud of him!!

  • @rccpblue Absolutely, Rutger Hauer may have stole n the show as Batty, and Deckard was the sort of anti hero, but Olmos was so memorable too, and certainly held his own. He also had some of the best lines.

'It's too bad she won't live! But then again ... who does?'

You're right to be proud. What a guy, an inspiration to all young actors.

  • @terrycharnley "best lines" if I remember correctly, he only had 2 lines, and only 1 was in English.

That said, his 1 English line was indeed the best in the whole movie.

  • Fuck, never made the connection! Classic film, classic part. And he's still involved with first class sci fi.

  • Lófaszt.......én látok itt olyan részeket, amik az én verziómban nem szerepelnek.......

  • Shit. I really never knew Olmos was in THIS piece of art. I've seen the movie multiple times never reconizing him.

  • Horse dick! So you say.

  • So say we all!!!!!

  • Látom bele van írva, hogy "kedvesem gyönyörű a ruhád"

  • Lófaszt! Nehogy már! Te vagy a Blade, Blade Runner!

  • "I could care less"

You're letting me down there Eddie! I wish Americans would use "couldn't care less" like people who have English as a third frickin language.

  • Missed the point, maybe?

  • Don't get your knickers in a wad. It's a fuckin' film.

  • people commonly misuse that statement. It'll become aculturated slang... well it already is.

  • Hah, interesting comment at the end there about the music on set. Edward did the same for some of the episodes he directed on BSG, played Bear McCreary's music on the set while filming. Now we know where he got the idea from :)

  • Adama made it to earth then ;-)

  • Eddy is so talented, this doc echos the fact, he was awesome as Gaff and as Adama he's been first class.

  • it's too bad she won't live...but then again,who does?...great performance

  • one of my favorite movies.

  • Edward James Olmos is awesome actor!

  • Realy cool
