i dont see why people get on Lars case for lack of double bass on dyers eve. for 1: its pretty hard. he's going pretty fast for most of the song, withh a few slow down spots. and at his age, he still does the arms mechanics like no one else, and thats what i think really sets him apart from other drummers.  just my opinion.

Mannn Metallica are fucking great ! One of the things I love about them is that they practice a lot and that's why they play their songs so good ! As you can see Kirk has become a lot more good than before on this song ! And nobody should forget what a pressure they have on their shoulders being METALLICA

Sorry for picking up such an old comment, but its not as much as Dyers Eve. Fight Fire with Fire has 3 double bass parts, Dyers eve much more... much much more, and with the rythm changes of the bass, its a more difficult.

No disrespect to Metallica, they are by far my favorite band of all time, I've seen them live 5 times. Planning a 6th. But the point is...is that they can't do what they did back in the 80's when this stuff first came out on album. After listening to Megadeth for about a week straight then listening to Metallica, Metallica becomes more awesome than before, then I listen to Metallica for a week straight, then Megadeth sounds epic again. And also realizing how both bounds relate in music. Both great bands just like Iron Maiden. And also realizing that Lars sounds much better than ever. Also having been to a Metallica concert recently, Lars plays double bass still, and it's loud as fuck.

that's bullcrap dude. It's 2 bassdrums, and he did really play it in the studio. You can hear that, because even in studio he screws that up.

it is pretty fast, not super-fast but the double bass goes on for quite a time.
