No actually you are wrong....and so are the people who think this is for "testing the fan"..it is not. This function is actually spinning the fan backwards.....it is used to blow the dust back out of the system.......nothing more, nothing less....also it is only on the newer systems...might be in response to the overheating PSU's on the older ones...not sure about this though

Dont do it. It will mess it up notice the two red blinks towards the end means its over heating/serious error you can do unknown damages. If you really need to clean if from dust use a low power vacuum or one of those pressure air cleaning cans

It's actually a "Force Eject" used by the SONY service teams when they fix PS3's.

And yes, I've definitely heard of Playstation's breaking because of it.

It fry's the graphics chips but It depends on which model PS3 you own. I'm not sure which though.

The effects often are not immediate but you did do some kind of damage. DON'T EVER DO IT AGAIN.

Do what SONY says and just use an upright vacume hose or a small handheled vacuum if you are concerned about dust.

Read your owners manual or call them yourself.

It would be sad if your ceramic PS3 bit the dust because of this.

Ive played my ps3 up to 12 hours and ive never heard anything like that.

The thing is, sony explains that if u hold eject be4 turnin on, its another way of taking your cd´s out when ur ps3 fails. there r various ways including doing that with the ps3 facing down and tapn the top part of the system(its a safety feature to get the blueray´s out)
