  • Never mind...read some earlier posts and it is. I remember Ernie Ford when I was just a kid but forgot about this song. Man, where did all the real musicians go?

  • This would be considered rockabilly right?

  • First time I herd this song I loved it. Ernie was one of the greats.

  • so good old times were the best

  • For some reason I could picture him rapping and doing the same hand gestures. Creepy.

  • @sagpipes That is a disturbing thought.

  • Ah Speedy West!

  • im only 14 and i love that song. my generation is hopeless

  • @griffinwackattakSF74 i agree some of a our music is just plain crap and i am 13!

  • when i was young I thought at 2:14, he said

And when he called on a pap, like the gentlemen order, he said no brush honers gonna get my BONER. He cocked back the hammer right on the spot, and gunned with alpha right on the shot. Shotgun Boogie. I got a windesbell. I'll be back when papa runs out of shells.

    lol, misheard

  • who is the piano player?

  • @Anglagard1 The piano player is Billy Leibert.

  • @pappyredux Thanks.

  • back to the 50's and furter

  • love IT

  • My favorite song when I was kid. We had an old 78 record...

  • It is such a silly song that's why I love it. My dad and I listen to it all the time and laugh.

  • snader transcripts...ptl...gospel r&r

  • Tennessse Ernie Ford a Great Rockabilly Favorite, I Love Shotgun Boogie and Catfish Boogie He's one of the Greats

    Thanks for this Matti

  • @mcveigh1598 I love those..and don't forget blueberry boogie! I count Tennessee Ernie Ford as one of the original voices of rock and rool, not just rockabilly.

  • @medicvet oops I meant blackberry boogie, not blueberry boogie.

  • This is one of the best metal songs ever.

  • There's always some killin' you've got to do around the farm

  • Great Song..Tennessee one of the Great Rockabilly favourites

  • great timing on this, makes the beat wait for the song.

  • Got A fox with a scattergun the other night, then I sang this here song to it.

  • And PLEASE don't forget the great Merrill Moore playing that boogie-woogie piano!!!

  • is not right. there`s Cliffie Stone on piano. Moore was later, at `52 , on records available.

  • is not right... Cliffie Stone was a great record producer & talent scout (and sometimes) bass player... this video has Merrill Moore on piano--no doubt about it...!!

  • Mr SH--Cliffie Stone was a great record producer and talent scout (and occasional bass player)... No piana playin', tho...!!!

  • Ernie was more than a talented singer. He also wrote "Shotgun Boogie".

  • this might be the best hunting song ever. F-Uncle ted , tenn. Ernie rules!!

  • Agree

  • i have thins on my ipod its awsome to bad its not on the raido anymore. :(

  • Ernie had perfect vocal timing - that's what made him a GREAT singer.

  • oh my god, as a guitar player and lover of vintage guitars....that slide guitar and the Fender Telecaster....probably worth thousands now

  • "that slide guitar and the Fender Telecaster....probably worth thousands now "

Probably more than that. About 18 yrs ago I had a Fender Broadcaster and a very early Telecaster stolen. Fortunately I had a couple of photos and lots of paperwork on them. The dealer's estimate for each of them was a MINIMUM of ten thousand dollars. No way to prove they still looked as mint as in the photos, so insurance gave me just ten grand apiece.

  • This is from 1951, and I definitely think it's part of the start of Rock-A-Billy. Whether or not you think Tennessee Ernie Ford is rebel enough, you can't tell me this isn't white country-boy rock and roll.

  • The only other close thiing would be Bill Halley's cover of "Rocket 88" which came out in May of 1951. But no one heard it and "Shotgun Boogie" was a tremendous hit.

  • "Rock around the clock" itself was basically a country boogie song, w/o fiddles or steel guitar. The "winding" up and down of the guitar, and the use of double stops were used heavily in country boogie.

  • Sounds like some boogie woogie and swing there too????! To young,,to know,,but!!

  • Oh Wow!! I was gonna put this one back up, but I guess I don't need to!! Since we get to the legend perform it!! I'll put up a different one.
