I am at high school (in switzerland) and at the end of high school, where I am now, we have to make a work about any topic we want... and I chose Woodstock '69 as my topic :)
then I saw you commenting this video... and I really need to know if you really attended the festival. Because I'm desperately looking for people who experienced the most peaceful crowd assembled ever. It would be absolutely amazing if I could contact you somehow.
The Who: simply awesome! If you like this song, search "MARCO MENGONI SEE ME, FEEL ME" . He's a young italian singer and his voice is amazing. He won "the best european act" at EMA 2010 and he sings many covers like Helter Skelter (Beatles), Satisfaction (ROlling Stones), Try (Janis Joplin), Respect (Aretha Franklin). Hope you like it... :D
Lol the mess the hippies left after Woodstock was an indication of the troubles to come in the future imo.
Peace, love and MONEY(80's) FTW and now we are in here: Worst economic crisis in decades; record unemployment; foreclosures and debt up to ears... Yes Mr Richard "peace" Nixon, Kissinger and their modern counterparts really have done their job well.
Oh and did i forget-the music sucks too, at least in the mainstream.
@GreedyNoobLike Agree with you on that, And that instrumental that Jimi Hendrix was playing while we were seeing all that kinda drove that point home really well.
@danieljh Isn't it always so easy to point the finger. Seriously, if something, really & truly bothers you, deal w/it. And if this is your only avenue, God bless you! When you point a finger at like all of a group, that's not really fair is it? Have a great Thursday & week.
Very good list, but I'd switch Jimi with Suite: Judy Blue Eyes. I was never impressed with Jimi at Woodstock, or most of his live stuff; he seemed to prefer to impress than engage. Higher was the exact opposite of that: total audience participation.
@JaxBeach2NewportBch 100% true Jax. Maybe not in the same order but I'd also have to have Crosby Stills and Nash's Suite Judy Blue Eyes in there as well. Awesome performance by them!!!
It's empty headed nit wits like Longfellow89 who makes comments about shit he doesn't understand. Go get your crew cut and then dry up and die! Why are you looking at these videos? Go watch some with blood, guts and gore, it seems you like that kind of entertainment, you spineless cock sucker!
With that being said, I want to thank my cousin Richard and the other brave souls who fought and gave their lives in that war. God bless you all! YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN! :)

I personally think its better to pay tribute to the vietnam war hero's as opposed to the hippi's who never bathed, brushed their teeth, let alone wiped their ass. Lets not forget to mention the rampant drug use at woodstock, and most of the people we're too stoned to hear the music. The media claims this should be a glorified national event, but I'm glad that 90% of Americans see it for what it is - a national disgrace. Whoever can put a hippi's life on par with a vietnam war vet is metally ill.
While the who was at woodstock, a well known 60's radical attempted to get on the stage and take the microphone from pete, hoping to make a peacful statement. Pete, not knowing who the hell the guy was, swung his guitar like a tennis racket and hit the guy in the face, yelling "get the fuck off the stage"
A simaler event involving pete kneeing a fan in the crotch happened a week earlier in newyork city.
if anyone has these two events on vidoe, please send them to me! it would be a great help.
The incident at Woodstock HungryLizard was Abbie Hoffman. He wasn't trying to make a peaceful statement he was on acid. It's the same guy who was on acid with his friends and did an invasion on The Pentagon in the 60's on foot. But he interrupted on the stage after The Who played Pinball Wizard while the camera man was changing the film. So it was never caught on tape I'm afraid.
The Who didn´t really fit well to the mellow Hippie atmosphere of Woodstock, but their performance is what I remember first of all since I saw the movie in 1985 - Roger Daltrey in the red light, the high vocals, and the increasing intensity of the song.
Just watching P.T banging out the riffs on this makes my hairs stand on end...A true rock n roll band....I mean who wears a set of white dungarees to go on stage these days lol

Pete Townshend, who wrote all but a few songs for The Who is a veritable genius. The band is incredible.

Sorry but Hippies became the yuppies of the 80's (not all of them). These baby boomers left a disaster that this generation is forced to clean up.
