great video department i work for had a garage fire kinda like this it was a 4 car detached it had a boat lawn mowers and dirt bikes all kinds of stuff guy was working on his Harley spilled oil and cleaned it up with paint thinner and didnt put the cap back on and left his Kerosene heater on he got the bike out but lost everything else due to the amount of flammable liquids even had a propane tank 50 yards away in the field that shot threw the roof it was a nice worker. Great job guys!!!!
I wouldnt want to get my ass whipped by a 2 1/2 without any backup either! Oh the life of a volunteer! Good job, that 1 3/4 works if you use it right.
I think I would have gone with a 2 1/2 on this one! With only the two of you and that kind of fire load a 2 1/2 would have been better. Just my opinion.
I agree with NewNsCrew, there could of been a reason a 21/2 line wasn't pulled. For some reason tho we always grab the 13/4 or 11/2 preconnect just because it is simple and used correctly you can knock down alot of fire with either. The firefighter with the camera made a good point about the hose needed to be extended, but get it done and don't wish. If nothing else they put a dang good dent in it. Get water supply and stretch another line and youll be good. Good Job.
Who taught this guy how to work a hoseline. Holding it in his arm pit with the pistol grip.. what a range of motion.. and i argee with NewNSCrew about the duce and a half
what a GONG SHOW. are you kidding me? NEWNSCREW - a 2 1/2 is not hard to pull if you TRAIN on it.....we are suppose to be professionals of our trade. so start acting like it. These videos should be shown to new recruits on how to train properly and not make poor decisions like this.
@NewNSCrew 2 1/2 would be better but not as a first line. For one, the 1 3/4 is much easier to move around once its charged if a new problem shows and especially since they dont have much man power. Also, you have to keep in mind water supply. How far out is the next truck? I dont believe there is a hydrant. Pull the 2 1/2 as the second line.
@NewNSCrew ..yes, he is serious. One pump, 2 firefighters, one operator and what looks like NO water supply. So you'd rather flood the crap out of it with lots of water rather than have more time with a little less water and STRATEGICALLY put the fire out?
@NewNSCrew they could of but thats their first pulled attack line....they probably used a 2 1/2....my dept. is the same way...we arrive and pull a 1 3/4 right away
@NewNSCrew Why would you pull a 2 1/2? They are way to big and hard to move around. An 1 3/4 works great. Thats all I use and I can knock down a lot of fire fast.
@NewNSCrew you cannot comment because you are not there, pulling a 2 1/2 would only use more of the water they actually had, Whos to say this was an area with no available hydrant and water had to be shuttled into them by other trucks, If so that takes time to get the Tankers on scene, dump the water and go for more. So please dont leave a comment about how to attack unless YOU WERE THERE. No internet fire chiefs welcome!
NightstarXr7, most enginge tanks are 500 gallons, depending on what psi setting the nozzle is at you can go for about 10 mins. This fire should have been attacked through the front so you push all the fire to the back, and not from the side where it keeps getting pushed into the van. Awesome video though
@15broberts 10mins with 500 gallons? Usually you can get 150gpm from an 1 3/4" line which would empty your tank in less than 4 minutes. If you would have lead off the the 2 1/2 @ 250gpm you would have only had 2mins.
