  • What you have there is called a " road transferable locomotive" we have three over here

  • Thanks I didnt know what to call it LOL

  • An eye-opener!

  • Thanks my friend

  • Is there any information regarding the wheels-axles arrangements in this kind of truck.I am an young engineer who is working on a project involving the design and manufacturing of a rail bogie for a mobile welding truck.

    Thank You.

    Inca o data multumesc.

  • wonder how many people thought.. with his front wheels in the air like that how is he going to steer lmao

  • Thanks Adam, trains do not have steering

  • Very nice!

  • Thanks

  • How would a person go about preparing themselves to be certified, or even trained, to do a job using one of these trucks? In other words, I am interested in a railroad job, and more specifically, a job where I have to drive one of these vehicles. What is involved and required, and what is the job title for what this gentleman is doing in this video with that truck pulling a train?

  • The various job, this one included are assigned to existing Employees, I'm certain he started to work in the Maintenance of Way Department. He may be driving a crane or other equipment next time I see him. He did have to have A commercial drivers license to accept this job in the department.

  • ah the brandt power mover nothing like it..i live not to far away from one..i've seen it on the road and tht thing is fast both on and off the rails..great mini series u made of this awsome truck!!

  • Thanks, I agree they are awesome

  • @pwalpar oh anytime..yeah they are sweet trucks

  • Thank you very much for your videos is very nice,

  • They finished the locomotives?

  • Its special truck used by the track people

  • @pwalpar Ok Walter I've understood. Ciao ciao. Gian ;-)

  • Wondetful to watch! I remember years ago here in the UK they had a bus that could do something similar in that it could also run on rails to get to some remote parts. i dont know why the idea didnt catch on.

  • Thanks Michael, sounds kinda like a trolley car lol

  • Yeah I never seen this before and didnt know they do this. Interesting.

  • Thanks for watching ..o(◕␣~)o

  • Nice Truck 4:02 looks awesome.Thumps up!

  • Thanks, it is a very cool truck

  • I've railed trackmobiles many times but this truck is considerably a lot longer. A good catch Walter. Thanks. Excellent video.

  • Thanks Hans, the first thing I noticed about it was how long it was

  • Well I can honestly say I have never seen anything quite like this before - Its a first for me!, Walter. 5* :-)

  • I havent see too may myself, Thanks Paul

  • Great video Walter. Your camera did a nice job of zooming in.

  • Thanks buddy

  • I never knew such a thing existed?

  • Thanks Bill, Happy Hew Year

  • The roadrailer has a very minimum turning radius which makes it difficult to set on on short crossings and the wheel base is just over 26'

The transmission on the roadrailer we have has the automatic Twin Disc marine type transmission with a seperate torque converter.

  • Thanks for the good info, I didnt get to see inside it

  • @pwalpar Not a whole lot of room in the cab, it has a center console between the seats with the two guages for the train brake, the lever for the train brakes, other guages and switches.

  • The roadrailer has a very minimum turning radius which makes it difficult to set on on short crossings and the wheel base is just over 26'

  • Yes I bet its a booger bear to get on the tracks

  • Great catch Walter weldone 5/5

  • Thanks Martyn:-)

  • a real nice catch Walter as I told you before seen one just like that pulling a half dozen cars downtown a couple years a go and sure strange to see that

  • Thanks Wayne, There seem to be more of them around these days

  • Nice truck i,d hate to have to pick that transmisson up by myself must be a monster a regular little macks is as big as a desk thanx

  • Thanks Brendan, im sure its huge. Happy New Year

  • Nice Video.

    Happy New Year Walter

  • Thank You Gunter, all the best to you in 2011

  • Happy New Year Walter ...Not seen that before....always said you railroad men car`t manage without the truckers...waiting for the next part showing it pulling.

  • Thanks Dave, maybe you need a model for your layout buddty

  • Happy New Year Walter

  • Thanks Dave, Happy New Year

  • Wish we had one of them instead of using the front loader.

  • Thanks Kelby, I have used a front end loader or fork lift to move many a railcar.

  • @pwalpar We use chains to keep the car from rolling away from us but there's always a safer way and thats the draw. Maybe our new boom truck will have knuckles.

  • That's pretty neat must weigh the same as a freight car to make the crossing gates come down. Can't wait to see the next two parts. Happy Year Walter.

    Pinballwhiz
