basically you must be relly good on music theory and have good knowledge of scales ,licks, petantonicks, arpegios ect...then its true you can get out any song by ear,...grats! i am self learned yet thats why i lack on this a bit:P grats m8 grats

That's awesome. I'm not good technically either. All I know is by ear and I've learned some Maiden but Kalmah is too friggin hard. Ur really good for being able to hear out Kalmah.

im so glad you are as skilled as you are and do not have a clear understanding of that music theory stuff. I was arguing with a friend about how "knowing" music is just as effective as knowing Bflat and music theory. I mainly play bass and just started guitar and i self taught myself and could just feel out the songs just as you said.
