@Shazzamin You put two lazy wrestlers who are afraid to take a chance and take a shot, and you'll get that. Put a judoka in the mix and you'll see some throws or a lot of trips that don't end up with anything. Put a tenth planet guy in there that doesn't know takedowns and you get the guard , and the butt scoot. I'd prefer wrist slapping to "lay and pray" myself. But, to each his own.

@luckyglasspig You guys have very good points, that's why its best to train a combo of all three bjj/the 10th planet system wrestling and some judo. Now obviously wrestling lends its to nogi because wrestlers do not wear the gi. judo is great for gi competition because they utilize the gi in allot of there set ups. Now i like to see action id love to see a submission win in every match i watch.

kinda funny eddie tapped royler using it when he was a brown belt and royler was a black i use the shit out of the rubber guard and yes it does fucking work put the numbers in with it and then see how you like it its an awesome guard

Eddie did not tap Royler using rubber guard, Royler basically fell into a triangle, there was no elaborate rubber guard set up, it was Royler being lazy since he had been dominating the entire fight. Also, rubber guard did nothing vs. Leo Vieira.

no gi guys do not get belts... Gi guys get belts and sometimes choose to train/compete at no-gi... Some people believe that using a gi in training helps you to better understand the techniques, but that's your choice... hope I answered your question.

to say that implies that every school has the same belt standards. All kinds of school have different standards that follow the same guidelines. Know posture, transitions, techniques, escapes and counters. All of which can be taught without the guy just in a different way. To say that a Jiu-Jitsu school can't follow the traditional belt system if they don't use a gi doesn't make sense. It's a different kind of Jiu-Jitsu but it still is Jiu-Jitsu so they follow the belt ranks.

guys got solid fundamentals which is key in jiu jitsu. with out it the level of your game will never progress.

eddie bravo's success in the 10th planet system was because he had solid fundamentals from the beginning under JJ Machado.

he then developed the rubber guard system as a blackbelt.

the black dude dominated the 10th planet guy because he relied to much on one thing(the rubber guard)

look at roger gracie for example. u never see him do anything fancy. simple works. you just should know how to do it right.

By the way, this video is portraying a false representation of the fighters that represent 10th planet. The guys you see winning the fights in the video are not from 10th planet jiu-jitsu. For example, the guy in the 3rd fight who wins by ankle lock is Dustin Akbari from Urijah Faber's team.

Plus he just won the world jiu jitsu championships last month . He also has a twin brother he is good really too . I think what happened was the ref stopped it, because knee compression locks aren't allowed in ADCC competition.
