From my point of view that chubby appearance is based on extra fuel tanks located under the wings in order to make the trip from Spain. Cheers from Spain
The F-5 version currenlty operated by the Spanish Air Force is the F-5B as an advance jet trainer. They use to fly F-5A and RF-5A but, as long as I know, these types are now retired from duty.
No, the Spanish Air Force does not operate F-16s, although this aircraft was considered to be the option to substitute the old F-4C back in the late 80's. Finally the decission was to purchase the F-18, which was designated as EF-18 Hornet
The combat wings are formed by EF-18, Eurofighter which are in process of delivery and Mirage F1-M (Updated) which are to be retired upon receipt of the 87 Eurofighter acquired by the Spanish Air Force. Regards,

Those F-18's are F-18A+ and F-18B+. It is a modification of the F-18A and F-18B to F-18C and F-18D.
But they are not completely identical, so they are called F-18A+ and F-18B+.

These look like typical Legacy Hornets, what's the M designation for?
WardogOtter 2 years ago
M designation is for MLU. Thez got the M after the upgrade that took place between 2002 and 2007 (aprox)

It seems to be a effect of the video editing.
