Desertphile and I have crossed the Mojave and Death Valley numerous times on foot, going from muddy seep to muddy seep in the Winter, some times taking months to go 300 miles. Hiking across on foot is the only way to really get to know the desert, seems to me. A whole lot is missed when one drives or just parks for a night or two. I've had kit fox bite my feet at night, gotten rammed by a burrowing owl, suffered sunstroke, bauxite poisoning, and nearly died a couple of times. That's the way.
Great video. Thanks for sharing it! And thanks for replying to mine. You know the one thing I learned out in the desert this time was that it has two extremes. And the winter extreme is to be respected as much as the summer heat. Maybe more so. But it sure is pretty in the winter.
Even with the book by by Dennis Casebier you will go off track on that road more than once. Things are changing in the deserts of California now at an alarming rate.
I love Marty Robbins!!
