  • this shows that compasion is not dead

  • A true hero saves a life without giving a shit about the consequences to themselves.

  • I would have jumped in for my dog . I'd rather die trying to save it than it die helplessly.

  • Sometimes, better saying many times, dogs help save humans in earthquake debris etc, so it's nice to return the help :)

  • Guys, dogs often rescue lil kids and old ppl, so why shouldnt we help em to?

  • We will be judged by the way we treat the least of us ! The rescuer will be rewarded for his selflessness! He is a hero. a harness from animal rescue could go a long ways in helping the next rescuer/hero! Thank you and God Bless you! To the cold hearts. yes you deserve to be rescued also and we love you too!

  • Hats off to the rescuer for not giving up because the dog was biting him. The dog was scared to death and only following his/her natural survival instincts. Poor thing was so confused and frightened and most likely exhausted too.

My thoughts are with the rescuer for a speedy recovery.

  • That dog is a big asshole! Maybe a bullet between the eyes will teach him a lesson

  • damn that rescuer is a real one !

even after a couple of bites he wont back down nice one !

  • finally...someone doing their job like they give a shit...things would run smoother if everyone worked as hard as this guy.

  • Imagine the bill you`d get threw the mail if this was a human rescue.

  • retarded dog.

  • God Bless You...:))

  • FInally I see some good hearted people doing something usefull....

  • Man way to go to the rescuer for not giving up on the dog after it bit him so many times! Honestly before you open your mouth about how much this rescue cost, think about how much money you waste to slaughter and torture cows so you can have your burger at McDonalds.

  • i rather get bitten 1000 times just to save a dog rather than be safe and see a dog drown to death...

  • @clydehan19

Dude, I know the dog was frightened thats why he bit that firefighter, but to say you don't mind being bitten 1000 times just to save it, I think you'd be dead before any saving gets done.

  • @butterglobe no dude. you didnt get it. what i mean is , i wouldnt mind rescuing hundreds or thousands of dogs that are in need, even if i got bit a thousand times , not a thousand bite of 1 dog..

  • This reminds me of the scene in the Aristocats. Thomas O'Mally, is struggling to get out of the river and then the geese come along, and he just kicks and struggles to do it on his own. Look at that dog "Buzz off, I'm doing fine!"

  • the dog he didnt know dat the guy try to help him!! he is just protecting himself

  • wow.... all that effort and the dog still died!!!! we live in a shameful contry folks..

  • Comment removed

  • @radishfest the dog didn't die he was quarantined for 10 days to make sure he didn't have rabies and a lot of people called to adopt him.. quoting somebody else here :)

  • @radishfest how did it die ??:)

  • @stiggyh it got sick from being in the water and rain, look at how filthy it was. thats like sewage and mud and shit... i thought i was goona cry when i found out. :-(

  • @radishfest a shame :(

  • @radishfest

How? There are a lot of places that they would have just allowed the dog to die. There's some country where they've got such a bad stray population that every time they find a stray dog they throw it in a huge pit and let it starve to death.

  • Wonderfull work,if I had to choose between drunker accident and dog in need of help I would choose the dog, they deserve this more then people and who thinks opposite?Well, then you are the person who would definitely die if there was that choice.

  • @nonak1067 lollll like someone will understand XD!!!...

  • the dog was scary the fire man must be killed not the dog cause he caught him add his head!

  • That was not the fault of the dog, he was scared to death so he protected himself... Ask the lifeguards of the firefigther how many humans did samething stupid like grabe so hard the lifeguard, that if the lifeguard dosen´t put the human inconsient both of them can die. So wath it´s the diference, if i remember the animal dosen´t understand you, a human does and knows best not to panic like that, but well it hapens to both...

  • Los Angeles City Fire Bitch. yeah, that's how we do things.

  • What a dick you are. Somebody needs to put you to sleep.

  • You are a tree hugging fool. That dog was an asshole and so are you. I hope that little bastard dies asap!

  • So much logistics for just a dog. It must have costed around $10,000 for that simple operation. Sheesh.

  • Who cares how much it costs. Man or animal it should have been rescued!

  • You're not thinking logically here, blinded by compassion, they didn't need to bring so many people and use a lot of resources for just rescuing a dog in non-tsunami waters. I count around 2 full size passenger helicopters whizzing by and that's just ridiculous.

  • Not really

  • 'Not really' to you because you don't know how to simulate costs of operation.

  • i would spend 1mill on rescuing an innocent animal.

  • @n3rdbear see your assumption is that they were only there for the dog, how do you know they werent crusing around looking for people when they spotted that dog? And logistically once that chopper is up in the air you might as well drain the tank

  • @n3rdbear If it was you there you would want everyone to help you keep your life. Selfish boy

  • @n3rdbear whether you don't know how to count, or you don,t have any idea at all about the prices of rescue operations, but there's no way this could have cost as much as 10,000 dollars. According to canadian coast guards' standards, i would say between 1000 and 2000 MAXIMUM.

  • @jwul28 keep dreaming

  • @n3rdbear Lol i know what i'm talking about bro, but i'm pretty sure you don't.

  • Tadinho! Ficou com tanto medo que até quis morder o bombeiro. :)

  • @gabritinha dream on non-bro

  • You people need to do a better job rounding up these stray dogs. I've already saved 12 dogs from having to survive an expensive taxpayer funded helicopter rescue.

They all went to live on a farm upstate.

I'm all for saving dogs, as long as its done in the form of charity.

Sorry, the government holding a gun to my head, forcing me to pay taxes, and then that money being used to rescue a dog rubs me the wrong way.

  • one bullet would have saved us from having to watch this non news

  • @bookereddie it sure would have.. if they used it on you. Everyone loves watching stories about douchebags getting shot.

  • i have a better idea, why dont you go "F" yourself. i would love to see that

  • you lack of compassion is surprising. If it was your dog im sure you would have wanted it rescued.

  • lol

    Fail trolling

  • @bookereddie If you just close your eyes, there is no need for bullets. But you love this video. You even searched this on youtube

  • When a dog is terrified, it will bite; it's a natural response .. just watch the Dog Whisperer, lol. It's a wonderful act of bravery and kindness what this firefighter did. Kudos to him!

  • @bellajanna YES!!!

  • dats my grandmas dog spikey

  • That dog was a bastard

  • aw! =( poor puppy!!! good thing they helped him!!

  • @raddishfist How can you make this video political? And by the way I'm prowd that America stands up to help when natural disasters happen and We always help regardless who is President.

We'd be a better country without dopes like you.

  • I know it's not pleasant to have dog bites, but this rescuer never gave up trying to save this distressed animal. Drowning people will sometimes fight their rescuers too. This rescuer is a real hero! Thank you and a speedy recovery I hope!

  • See folks, this is the kind of real heroism that is the true American spirit. THIS is where we have so much opportunity for job creation, but it seems like O-BUMMER would rather have us throw away our tax dollers in Haiti instead of saving our beloved pets at home... how many more do we have to lose?? Not my presedent.

  • To everyone who found this rescue to be a very noble action, congrats for your good hearts, for those who oppose, stab yourselfs in your head with a rusting knife and then fuck off and die please.

    Thank you.

  • For all those complaining about this:

How about the fire department saving drunks from their own burning cars? Saving druggies from their own ODs?

"Oh, the value of human life!" Screw you, hippie. Any dog is worth more than far too many people. I'd far rather see my tax money save a dog than some worthless drone of a two-legged bottom-feeder who does nothing but cost us.

  • that is so true

  • @jnojr With you all the way on that! Poor Dog only bit him out of fear, Big Love to both the Dog AND his brave rescuer!

  • @jnojr lol Dogs are worthless, dirty animals. In fact they should all be rounded up, their legs cut off and boiled alive.

    Filthy animals.

  • @Mrxb0x Come on...you know you love them :) you just can't help but love their cute faces. Don't lie.

  • @Mrxb0x did someone ever loved you?..

  • @jwul28 HURRR DURRR dID SOMEONe EVER loVED YOU? ?

Can you speak English? "HAS someone ever loved you", Retard. Just because I pointed out what a worthless filthy animal a dog is; doesn't mean someone hasn't loved me.

You like dogs, that makes you as stupid and worthless as they are.

  • @Mrxb0x You get the point, so chill out. And just by how full of anger your last comment was, I got my answer.

  • @jwul28 I was not angry in the slightest, nor am I now. You incompetence and general lack of intelligence are the reasons for any perceived anger. These are also the reasons for your extrapolation of "he's not nice to retards and doesn't like dogs hurr durr, therefore no one must love him"

It's like talking to a small child, you: "U DONT LIEK DOGS???, THAT MEANS NO ONE LOVES U!"

Go back to your simple life of being easily entertained by even stupider animals.

  • @Mrxb0x your opinion about dogs has nothing to do with why I think you've never been loved. The way you cruelly told it to everyone on youtube, however, has.

  • @jwul28 You can extrapolate anything you want based on someone comments on a website, however your assumptions are likely to be widely inaccurate.

This further proves my opinion of your level of intelligence because you use such an incredibly stupid means of judging people.

    Death to dogs! :D

  • @Mrxb0x You criticise the accuracy of my opinion because it's about comments,... and then you use comment yourself to support yours! lool Your a bit incoherent, at least. and based on what you're saying, someone with an superior intelligence such as yourself should comprehend the concept of prooving something, which means that is sure without any doubts.

  • @jwul28 I was criticizing your METHODOLOGY of judging people, not your comments. You base yours on "the WAY you said.." There is no "way" to say something in text, there is no expression.

You can interpret emotions in text in many different ways, but there is only one way the CONTENT can be attained. The CONTENT of your comment revealed your stupid way of judging people. I didn't think "oh the WAY he said "blah" means that his means of judging people is stupid."

  • @jwul28 "your a bit" *You're

    "an superior" *a superior

    "prooving" *proving

"means that is sure without any doubts." *means that it's sure....

"then you use comment yourself to " *use my comments

  • @Mrxb0x GEEZ here we are again with grammar Teacher Mr. PainInThe Ass!... You think you're intelligent because you act like if you don't understand what i write!? Stop being snobby, what if you try to write in french, just for fun? I'd like to see how snobby you'd still be then. So stfu and go back with your geek friends wasting your life ---> it doesn't worth much anyway. And there's no "way" to say things in text??where did you get that from?XD Take literature lessons instead of grammar! cunt!

  • @Mrxb0x You're retarded. A dog has been my grandmother's eyes for years, and saved her during a heart attack. You clearly are a disgusting, ignorant person, so no animals like you, hence you hate them.

  • @ZabeHon What utility does a filthy, stupid dog provide? Nothing. They used to be useful for hunting, BUT GUESS WHAT? We don't need to hunt anymore and thus dogs have out lived their usefulness. They are now worthless, money wasting, stupid bug infested animals. Only sad, lonely weak old people like dogs. They find friendship in the mutual stupidity and worthlessness that they share. But you don't have to be old, in order to be stupid and worthless; as you are a prime example.

    Death to dogs!

  • @Mrxb0x What utility do you provide besides agitating people on this useless website? You say weak people dont like dogs, i say you are the weak one for not being able to understand the emotional connection one can have with such a beautiful creature. youre fucking pathetic,

    Death to you!!

  • @Obzy666 I've seen your previous comments. You're a dog obsessed maniac, why do you have such a fascination with such a worthless inferior animal? And don't give me this "emotional connection" horse-shit, are you into bestiality or something? No one should like a stupid bug infested animal so much. MUCH less have an "emotional connection" with one. Now THAT is fucking pathetic. I guess some people are just easily entertained by a dumb animal that wanders around makes barking sounds.

  • @Mrxb0x I think the fact that you fight to prove how much you hate dogs just proves you have latent beastiality, and are just too afraid to admit it :). look inside yourself dawg, and youll see that the dog penis is what you truly desire :)

  • @Obzy666 I don't "fight to prove" anything at all. You commented to me; faggot. You know I proved how stupid and filthy dogs are, that hurt your brittle little feelings so now you have nothing left but to try and say I'm into bestiality, which is ironic because you're the one that is obsessed with this inferior species.

By the way.. Smileys? Really? Jesus fucking christ.

  • @Mrxb0x you seem like a very angry person. i can practically taste the angst wafting off you. you should really learn to chillax, kick back, have a beer, and pull that god damn pickle out your ass. i honestly dont care about your opinion, its obviously meaningless. the fact that you harvest such hate towards dogs must mean you had a tough childhood. I dont blame you, its not your fault. did your dad beat you, or worse :o ;) ;) :'(. its ok, were all friends here, you can tell me sweetie :)

  • @Obzy666 Oh I get it, so pointing out the truth means I'm "angry" ? Pointing out how worthless and stupid dogs are means I'm "angry"? Pointing out your sharp lack of intelligence and ridiculous obsession of an inferior animal means I'm "angry'"?

Hmm. Sounds like you're the one who's angry. But it's ok you can keep trying to personal insult me, if it makes you feel better about your sad existence. Just pretend that I actually care what goes on in your little mind. Gotta go for now though.

  • @Mrxb0x look at yourself man, youre fucked in the head, and youre too deluded to realize it. go smoke some more meth ya weirdo

  • @Mrxb0x Troll

  • @jnojr YES!!!! cudos

  • USA, a country that mobilizes helicopters and tens of firefighters to save a dog, but is against a public health system... Go figure...

  • @luderpt ahah that's so fucking true lool, good spoting:P

  • Kudos for the rescue team.

Now, we need to find the owners of the poor German Shepard and through them in that arroyo.

  • FANTASTIC

  • I can't believe the bickering about a dog being saved. You people bitching about a dog being rescued need to get something else to worry about. This is a nice story, and once in awhile we need something like this to remind us, amongst all the negative news, there is good news out there once in awhile.

  • epic

  • respect for these peoples!!!

  • this is so awesome! its things like this that make me really appreciate la fire dept....wow so awesome!

  • That same dog may someday save a human life. German Shepherds were bred for intelligence and are very trainable. If you want to put somebody down, put down the one who allowed the dog to stray and wander into the river. As for the tax gripers, What do you spend YOUR spare money on? Car polish? Booze? Dime bags? I don't mind paying taxes if it's properly spent.

  • Well done Los Angeles fire and rescue! Dogs are some of the best people I know. These guys would be doing rescue drills anyway, so "up yours" to those who say it is a waste of resources. A real waste of resources is bailing out big businesses, (with money that didn't exist), that should have gone out of business because they paid themselves too much, and were not competitive. I'd rather see a cop getting a cat out of a tree, than pay em to write fines all day.

  • a true hero saves lives, no matter who's life it is; person OR animal, and anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what a hero is. thank you L.A. firefighters!

  • @Dfanatic1

animals don't understand when people are trying to help them because they are instinctual. Doesn't mean we should let all of them die. If I was that man, I would be happy that I rescued the dog and the injury would be worth it.

And @ spunkeys1, I totally agree with you.

  • @Dfanatic1 #1, over 1000 people have called offering to adopt him.

#2 he is quarantined for 10 days to make sure he doesnt have rabies , he is NOT being put down

3 the rescue worker is a professional, only his thumb was bitten, he is doing fine. 4 this was a FANTASTIC training exercise, Hext time it could be a child in that river, which will be EASY compared to a scared dog Any of this sinking in yet ?? It DOESNT matter what it cost. It was good practice You Complete IDIOT...

  • It could be argued this could be considered as a rescue excercise....still....it'd be pointless to have rescue teams in any city if we lose our human sensibility

  • I can't believe the mean, heartless, brainless comments by some miserable humans on this post.

And be sure you know the whole story before you criticize the heroes of the LA CITY Fire department.

No wonder this country is going down the tubes with so many fools as those commenting here.

  • it's pretty obvious that the people making their negarive comments about Vernon, have never known' the joy of loving pet, or have ever felt the sorrow of losing one.

  • PS And may I respectfully add to those that wish to pay taxes for sharpshooters to shoot stray dogs rather than helicoptor pilots to save them. I'd rather see the "higher angels" of govt at work. If you feed a police culture of resorting to the quick violent fix first and foremost, and we'll be dealing with countless Beijing 89's or Chicago 68's. First dogs, then us.

I exaggerate of course. But only slightly

  • Odd there's such focus on govt spending. The fact is they have the equipment to do something like this, and probably there weren't more serious matters with the flood to attend to. I'm happy to defer to their judgement. Maybe it cost $5000? So what? Should we never call the fire dept to help rescue a kitty that's up a tree? It's not all about too much govt. I'm happy they have the equipment to do something I couldnt do. I'm happy that my infinitely small share taxes would help pay for it.

  • You too USANatDebt12Tril.

  • Fonveh, you're an ass....you're mother should have eaten you at birth.

  • Rescuer could have approached the dog with a little more caution, it was obviously terrified and had no idea what the rescuers intention was.

Once they got in the air the dog seemed to calm down.

Overall, good rescue practice for the fire department.

  • more than 1 thousand people wanna adopt this dog

20 bucks say that person will be on television

  • I wonder if the rescuer is a cutie.

    Very Dreamy.

  • Very happy for this dog! Thank you firemen for saving a life!

  • U.S National Debt: $12,314,093,826,389.

I hope Vernon the helicopter dog has some ideas on how to pay it off.

  • I think spending the money on this dog is more intelligent than spending it on failed banks and CEOs.

  • I don't think the person who adopts Vernon will have a problem paying for saving the dog's life.

  • The fire fighter should have used a muzzle.

  • dogs r down n hati helping saving lives as well as served in ww2 2 help U.S. soldiers 2 fight the war. Do some research or read a book im sure if ur life was in danger & a dog saved u wouldn't b talking ur all ignorant! we all eat breathe etc the same the only difference is animals dont bitch!

  • @ thecolorunknown, Are you serious??? I agree that humans are a hairless animal, but that's it. What you said would make perfect sense if dogs or any other animal created the technology to rescue humans. In that case, maybe the dog or his family would have a job or a business or somehow have enough money to pay for their own rescue.

  • dog owners live longer and happier. there's a reason why they're known as "man's best friend". it's a symbiotic relationship.

  • That was very sweet and kind of that fireman to keep on trying to save that dog after the dog bit him.The dog did not know that fireman was trying to help it

  • god bless the patience of that man, that fireman beast handle is a hero

  • Lmao fantastic to witness the stupidity and ignorance of some americans again. First of all these ppl are trained very hard to deal with these situations dog or whatever, only cost is the fuel, but i suppose you have enough of that after invading iraq that brings me to the next point, normal ppl who were brought up with love and care, dont let an animal die like that if they can help it ppl who think otherwise have a serious disorder and should be put down themselves.

  • I'm going to make it my new hobby to shoot as many stray dogs as I can so they don't have be rescued by helicopters.

  • you are a homo

  • ur a disgrace as a human being 2 this country! yeah go kill innocent animals so u can spend some quality time w assholes like urself in prison. people like u is what makes this world horrible.

  • a dog is taking a bath!? bring them all in guys *three helicopters five ambulances and a stealth bomber fly in*

  • the firefighters saved the dog because they knew civilians would try to if they didn't. then they would be saving those civilians and the dog at that point.

as for the firefighter, he said in an interview, that he knew the dog would react that way and that his injuries aren't so bad and was happy to save the dog to prevent other people injuring themselves to try to save the dog.

  • What a beautiful excuse for their stupid action! Couldn't they just stand there to stop civilians jumping into the river? Is it the only solution by risking people's lives (including those of the helicopter pilots)?

  • stopping civilians from jumping into the river is not the duty of the fire department. their duty is to save lives.

how was their action stupid? they saved a life and are all happy to do so. nothing negative resulting in their actions except your comments.

i hope you one day enjoy the beauty in this world rather than put it down.

    best wishes.

  • @kandygirl15 Ok, "nothing negative". everybody is happy. What if something bad had happened? say, the dog had bitten the firefighter's face; the helicopter had crashed. Now what would think of this rescue? The firefighter actually got bitten by the dog. He is having a risk of attracting disease from the dog, isn't he? Is it worth of risking human lives to save a dog's life?

  • Yes. Always.

  • bless that rescuer..the dog is just scared normal reaction....glad to see a great ending.....

  • The person who ordered this rescue should be fired. There were risks of human life, human health (bit by dog), and helicopter crash (low flight).

  • lol what a dumb fuck why didn't he expect a frightened animal to attack him? he should have had protechtive arm/hand gear. dumbarse

  • What makes you assume he didn't expect the dog to attack? I imagine any trained water rescuer would be well aware that frightened animals may bite, just as most other people are. He willing to risk it to save the dog. He kicks ass. & he didn't suffer "sever hand & arm injuries" he got his thumb bitten.

  • You are full of shit carpnter2000!

Dogs bite when in such a distress--. No friggin' way will he be put down. They will give him an observation. Do you really think after the situation this dog went through that he wouldn't have bitten? Good god...give the poor dog a break.

  • A true hero in the rescue of this pooch. He did have a muzzle for the dog but couldn't get it on him, the dog was to scared. A great end to this amazing story.

  • If you saw the dog on the evening news, he was very calm and relaxed, and everyone was petting him. He already has tons of people wanting to adopt him, after his quarantine. As for the fireman, a true hero who does not resent the dog biting him.. The dog was scared to death, but finally felt the love, and calmed down.. He will go to a loving home now.

  • The person who adopts the dog should pay for the cost of the rescue.

Sounds very very fair to me.

  • once again ur an idiot.

  • A great job and true hero for the rescue of this pooch. He had a muzzle for the dog, but couldn't get it on him. He just wanted to get him out of there

  • Hip Hip Hurray good job for all the ppl involve in this rescue operation for the GSD DOG.I know the dog will know the man is a kind man even the dog bites him.I have been bitten by a dog in a dog shelter the dog is timid and i got bitten by it is because i try to bath the dog and it bites me.But i still continue to bath the dog even it bites me and surprise the dog stop biting me and stand still for me to bath.

  • Poor judgement in the use of rescue equipment and personnel.

  • he lacked the proper equipment to rescue animals safely. thats all

  • it's not worth it.

i hope the rescuer did not get any permanent damage because of this. if he did, it would have been better to leave the dog to die.

  • I would have whacked that dog in his face with a bat and then stun him with a tazer (and probably get electrocuted in the process). I would have wrapped his face in a muzzle, lift him to safety, and beat the shit out of him for being stupid. No, that GS would NEVER have saved a human. EVAR. You can barely get them to save their own kind. Every GS I have ever known has physically harmed their owners, even the ones who taugh the GS to hate Blacks. I would have beat that dog brain dead. saveFAIL!

  • @BiteHunter: apparently someone beat you brain dead already.

    Go taze yourself.

  • The dog is safe in a shelter and the firefighter Mr. St. Georges is healing from his wounds and everybody is HAPPY!!!

  • Lite,

O.K. Now you have to see the irony of this, work with me here..lol The dog is safe in a shelter and then it overstays its 36-72 hours,,whatever it is, because no one wants to adopt a dog that might bite them ( whatever the reason might be, fear etc familys dont want it) so they then have to put this dog down and the entire effort and the guys wounds were for nothing..LOL Yes I thought that was a great story then my mind just had to keep going to see the possabilities..HAHAHA

  • Those nail biting moments!

  • Hey longtailrat. That dog became confused and terrified as soon as stupid humans showed up to rescue him from having fun in the river waterpark that rarely shows up in LA. Animals can survive better without us than with us. It's called instinct.

  • Props to the pilot and the rescuer. No life is left in vain.

  • The Dog bit him because he was getting his head dunked repeatedly under water while trying to be helped. lol. He didn't know wth was going on, lol.

  • I don't think that those guys should get fired trojanspaghetti because they were most likely following orders. Hopefully this real life training experience will save a human life somday. Pets are great but they aren't one of us. Pets deserve to be treated with respect but if that rescue attempt diverted the "heroes" from saving a human life then that is a tragedy!

  • That was great !!! congratulations for everybody....

  • This brought sad tears then happy tears to my eyes. The owners shouldn't get him back, what is he doing running around free and in that situation in the first place? Give him to a loving home that keeps an eye on him. German Shepherds are the BEST!

  • Fireman should get a medal. Bravo!

  • So what the heck makes me think that wasn't a rescue. First of all like I originally had pointed out the water wasn't even two feet deep. If you disagree with that just look at the video. It doesn't even come up to the firefighter's knees. You obviously did not see the whole thing because the dog was able to walk from one side to the other without ever having to paddle. Now if Michael Vick decides to adopt the dog he eventually did from exposure, sheer exhuastion or panic. This is classic.

  • squeegee34 He obviously could not get out of there and who knows how he got there in the first place. How would you like to be stuck there, confused and terrified?

  • Call me crazy but I'm an emotional person and I was really feeling it for the dog. Praise God that there was someone willing to jeopardize their own safety to help a helpless dog. I can't for the life of me figure out why some people are saying that it was just a waste of money saving a dog....That's classless. The dog has a life just as much as humans do. Money can be replaced, a dog's life can not! To me the life of a dog outweighs the money. Long live the dog and tthe firefighter!

  • @TrickyPricky24: I so agree with everything you have said. The German Shepherd is the smartest dog in the world. He would of done it for mankind if he had the chance. Dogs says people's lifes everyday. We can save theirs too, money in not the issue. It's nice to see others that feel the same way I do.

  • The firefighter sustained serious injuries to his hand and arm from the dog's bites. I know he's a bigger man than most of us: first of all, he's balls enough to go down to a gushing water way to save a dog, and two, he's brave (and stubborn) enough to hang on, despite being attacked. It doesn't matter what criticisms people have, the point is, he saved a life because the dog would have surly drowned or gotten hurt and eventually died from exposure, sheer exhaustion and panic.

  • the firefighter didn't wear proper protection?
