From what I've researched, as I have asked this exact same question, reverse osmosis water I think is the way to go in the short run. Unless you own your home and can afford some kind of filter installed you can get reverse osmosis at most Walmart's. There are lots of websites you can research, but the one that will scare you the most is the water quality one that tells you what is in the water in any given city in the US. Good luck.
