  • AMEN!!!!

  • How come everyone keeps telling Abdul to just do it himself? If you are not into that kind of thing, it's a major pain and ends up costing more to buy the right tools, etc, just for one job. Plus he'd rather leverage his time doing what he does best (and earn 3x more than he'd save). He talked about that a few months ago in another video.

  • They might think its not worth it for that amount of money. People want big money for big work. They don't want to waste their time with little jobs here and there. You can't fault them for that. I'm the same way. I only accept contracts for really challenging jobs that will be rewarding. That's just the way some people are.

  • if you Talked to say a Contractor that is the Bizness owner and his Bizness is Slow ,he has probably laid off the ones he would have paid $15's a hr to do your job and he himself might have been more of a Bizness Runner / Owner with the Contractor Lic: but With no or little Dirty Hand Knowledge to do your task , a lot of contractors have the Bizness End and Hire the Workers to make them rich but are Dumbasses in the field not everybody but some and many run that way.

  • I bet if you offered $500-$1000 for the job you wouldn't have a problem!

  • @mohammedabshaun

Yea' man Just drive down to HomeDepot and let a 50 dollar bill stick out your shirt pocket and get somebody to fix your floor dude. thats would do in a pinch :/

  • :) And take care of that leg man! Good excuse to have the wife rub cream on your legs ;-)

  • I can understand it in a way because linoleum is a pain in the butt to do and can be easy to screw up. But what should be happening is "Sure, but to let you know, I am not the best at linoleum, but I will do the best I can and it will cover the floor. Just may not look like a million buck. If I do this job it will be at least $50 or $75 even with you supplying the materials. If I don't feel comfortable with the job I will tell you up front. Does this sound like a fair agreement?"

    Fly me to ND!

  • then someone asks about that company, and people will say, no don't call that company they do half ass work.

  • I think you're having a hard time finding someone because you want them to half ass it. Cutting out the burnt section of the floor and glueing down another is half assing it. I doubt a licensed contracting that is legit will want to do a job like that, that is if he currently has work scheduled.

The bad part about half assing something is; say someone sees the quality of work done. They ask who did the work, and they say xxxx llc did it. Now the person thinks xxxx llc is a hack that doesbadwork

  • With the cost doing business those guys would be working for free for a small job like that. I am sure they dont even want to leave there house for under $1000.

  • Yes I know I am starving to death but I am not going to eat that meal because it came from mcdonalds and I like burger king...lol...same mentality??? Apparently these guys arent hungry enough.

  • @shalpo exactly only a few people are getting what I am saying.

  • Overreacting. Should have placed a craigslist ad.

  • @lafucil i was contacting these guys on craigslist

  • @mohammedabshaun My condolences. One flaw with craigslist is that you can encounter bot's and passive marketing ploy's. If you haven't gotten anyone yet, place another ad and narrate it just like you did this video....you may even want to place a link to this video in the ad. Show picture's of the damage. Express your disgust with those who leave ad's but don't really work, you're bound to get someone to show up.

  • @lafucil My father-in law is going to take care of it

  • @mohammedabshaun yeah I went thru a well-established contracting website (to put up a fence) and some of the contractors made an appt with me for estimate and didn't show up. tHEN make a 2nd appt and no-show again.

Also I would call companies directly, leave a voice mail and not get a call back! THEY JUST DON'T WANT IT BAD ENUFF to get their sh*t together and monitor their voice mail.

  • The job is actually a bit more involved. You're highly unlikely to find vinyl tiles to match the burned tiles so ALL of that tiling is going to have to be ripped up and replaced. For burned carpeting, if you can't can't color match it at low's or home depot so that a "patch can be made..it will need to be ripped up entirely as well. If you want the job done right so that it looks good, it will cost you.

  • @mindstate30

Replacing tiles is easy as long as you can calculate "area", cut squares and use glue. I learned to lay tiles when I was 14...it was my job. I did apartment maintenance.

  • @mindstate30 i have the vinyl material here

  • @mohammedabshaun

that's awesome. You should be able to get it done then. BTW, I hope your leg feels better..that is a horrible, painful looking burn.

  • This can be a problem in the UK too. One of my customers had a job which would take a few hours to do. I asked two of my friends who are in the construction industry and they both turned it down because a few hours wage wouldn't be enough to warrant a one hour drive there and back. The funny thing is they both have no work at the moment. Just do it yourself if you can man, and then spend the money you save on a nice meal or something.

  • @bobdigi88 exactly

  • I'm glad to see you are okay and remain in positive mode. Moving forward, my advice is: where there's a job to do, pay the *willing* (and competent) and get the job done. Keep it simple, and everyone's bread is buttered.

  • Dang, glad your ok. :-) ... it seems to me with inflation with good and energy... people rather not do a $100 job and just do nothing.

  • Get people who are willing to get the work done. You're generalizing asking a few folks and they turn it down. Simply, you asked the wrong people. Again, ask people who are willing to get the job done. If asking the illegals will help get your job done then so be it. Not all people living in America is lazy or unqualified.

  • @Greatersend i asked 10 people,lol

  • @Greatersend The point is, if the construction sector is in a slump with so many hurting, why don't the unemployed guys take small jobs and estimate it fairly? Or take a low rate and see it as an opportunity to open other doors? After all, they are unemployed... a lot of "office work" people do internships for free or low pay.

  • @jchahine I agree, but few are willing to take the opportunity.

  • I am sorry brother for what happened to your leg. Ouch that looks painful. I agree with you completely by the way. Hope for a speedy recover iA.

  • You answered your own question. Americians are lazy/spoiled. That's why have no problems with illegal being in this country.

My personal though on unemployment check is people should be require to report some where for community service.

Glad you and your family is ok.

  • Oh nooooooo!!! Dude that messed me up. I'm pretty squimish. You're like a brother to me so that really messed me up. Glad you are making videos and seem okay. Man, please be careful!!! I don't want anything to happen to my man Abdul.

  • @judutchinski

Yeah youd just as soon marry abdul and ditch your japanese wife if you could LOL

  • It makes me feel better to know that there are others who feel the same way. One thing I've noticed is that demand for certain fields like fixing cars is through the roof, at least where I am, but nobody is rushing to fill that demand. They'll even call it inhumane if you suggest they take advantage of weekends.

I keep hearing sob stories about jobs with over 500 applicants for 8 dollars an hour. Why isn't everyone lining up to be a garbage man, mechanic, or programmer which all pay more?

  • cont.

I think part of this is the fault of shop owners who don't want to take risks training kids. 3/4 of the gas stations/shops that existed in this town 20 years ago have been abandoned. It's not from lack of demand because the places still open never have enough workers/capacity to handle the full demand. Prices are naturally high with such high demand. It's simply a matter of people not wanting to open repair shops regardless of whether people are willing to pay a lot for service not.

  • I get it man I ran outta $ one time in Atlanta I was broke needed money I didn't ask for $ I asked for any work if they offered $ I would not accept it I WORK. IDK about those people that would not work 2 people does not a country make. Just like a coporation might not sell you a small amount of product so these contractors may be they want the big job and figure it is not worth their time to scoop up $100 when they are use to getting larger contracts. I know it could lead to b&b things IDK?

  • @cdltpx one guy told me his business is slow and he wouldn't come out. I don't understand it lol

  • @mohammedabshaun Well from now on keep a box of baking soda in your frige get a grease fire you throw the bacon soda on the fire and it puts it out. Baking soda not only removes odor from your fridge it also will save your life ONLY if you remember this tip. Safest way to deal with a grease fire is A cover the pot B if the fire is still present add bacon soda.

  • Correction for everyone, A undocumented worker isn't just a mexican, they can be from many different countries, Phillipines, Russia, Greece and etc.

  • Sorry for your leg Mo' Great observation about reality out there.

Mo' one more thing when I came to America I was thought not to use the word nigger to a black person very offensive! So you being a public person don't refer to undocumented people as "ilegals". I know you didn't mean to insult no one. Just an advise man!

  • @1983JuanCarlos no disrespect intended, but what do you call a person that is not legally in the united states?

  • South Dakota must be a lazy sucky place. here in the city, 3 crackheads would had fought each to do that job for 20 bucks... seriously.

  • Brother Abdul: Get a cheap mexican laborer to do the job because most americans will complain that the job is beneath them.

  • Sorry to hear about your house and leg bro.. If you did get an illegal to fix it who could blame you.

  • Yes we are spoiled and wont consider doing alot of things unless BIG bucks ares involved..

  • I don't think you can cut out the vinyl floor out and put in another piece without the cutting area being obvious.

  • @D4x4Bronc I t will definitively be obvious, my land lord is ok with it.

  • Hah! Good point, but I am an un-employed veteran right now...and I would LITERALLY do anything for money right now....even go back to Iraq!!! buuut, nothin for me :( So, instead of begging for money...I am now selling things on ebay...all things and every thing! Lol Adapt and over-come!!!

  • Nasty burn, be sure to take care of it.

  • I know a mexican that would do it for 49!

  • There are no illegals in South Dakota. Thats a long walk. But contractors want big jobs so they would only work 5 to 8 times a year.

  • yes very spoiled

  • Glad you are ok. But an illegal would knock that out for $50.

  • @turboman8082 in a heart beat

  • My friend's brother went into carpentry. He had a $100 minimum for any job that he did. He still has a lot of work. But the truth is that you really need to establish a good relationship with a local carpenter. It's like finding an auto mechanic that you can trust not to fix one thing and yet break another so they get repeat business. Call a few other carpenters and quit bitching about one guy. I went through three lawn companies before I found a reliable one.

  • @rayme4raw first of all ray me while you are running your mouth I actually spoke to 10 guys today all gave excuses. So know what you are talking about before you speak.

  • @mohammedabshaun Awww, I thought that you were made of sterner stuff. I'll treat you with kid gloves from now on. 10 guys, jesus christ, I've never had to go through that many individuals to get something done. Small jobs can lead to bigger jobs later through referrals. I'm a hairdresser, I don't turn down a hair cut just because doing color pays more. You build up your clientele and word of mouth will send bigger jobs your way.

  • Damn thats a scary looking burn.

  • Gee wheez, you cooked your leg man. So sorry to hear and see that. American way..do the whole floor and they will be happy to help you. Or,do you out of money you dont need to spend. Spoiled? Heck no, Greedy, that's the word. I had the same problem trying to get a roofer to repair just the sun room area of my roof. They were only taking jobs for complete new roofs. What the....? Hope you find a good Mexican to take care of it. Ariba!!

  • @TutressToYou I know, lol. They would only do the full roof, that is greedy

  • lol! hand models, and the like, actually take out insurance policies on their money makers.

  • Hope we're not all just figuring this out about us americans

  • @ampecsu I think some people haven't figured it out yet

  • Hire The illegal.... So Glad You're Okay!!!

  • The problem is, in your mind it's a one hour job. In their mind it's one hour to get their tools together and travel to your house, then another hour to go out & buy the stuff you didn't know you'd need, one hour to do the work, then another hour back home and putting up their tools for 50 bucks. Then you'll call & complain later because you expected perfection for $50/hour, and another trip will be involved. After gas and taxes, they're lucky to make minimum wage. Hope you're okay.

  • @imstillworkin this is the reasoning I am talking about. I would have paid $200 for this

  • @imstillworkin illegals would have done it with no complaints, Americans don't understand.

  • @mohammedabshaun Illegals don't pay social security, medicare, federal and state taxes, don't buy business licenses or pay for workmen's comp insurance. If Americans could get that deal, they'd work for less too. If you were quoted $200, you'd get 2 more estimates and 2 guys would have made a trip to your house for nothing. I understand your position, just trying to explain why.

  • @imstillworkin we are talking about people who complain there is no work out there. Constructions job are slow as hell in the winter time especially here. Some of the guys told me that on the phone but still don't get off their lazy ass and work.

  • @imstillworkin you don't know how many e-mails I get from people who have the mindset of they deserve more, when they have nothing. It's crazy

  • @mohammedabshaun You just don't understand, they can't afford jobs like that. How about this, if you like the Mexican way so much...when a Mexican burns a hole in his floor, do you think he hires someone to fix it or do you think he fixes it himself? Time for that can-do American spirit, lol.

  • @imstillworkin I think you are trying to get me to understand your mentality, and I understand and that's the problem. This is not about a Mexican, I never mentioned a nationality. This is about American being selective with jobs. I just got off the phone with the contractor who was suppose to come look tomorrow, he can't come because he is sloppy drunk right now. He could barley speak on the phone.

  • @imstillworkin are you a carpenter?

  • @mohammedabshaun No I'm not a carpenter, I'm a female who understands how the business works. I also understand that everyone is very sensitive when it comes to nationality unless that nationality is American then it's okay to bash away. I chose the word "Mexican" because if I had said "since you like the illegal way" you wouldn't have understood what I was talking about. This isn't an American problem, it's an American business problem. I hope you get the work done and you get well soon.

  • @imstillworkin What does female have to do with it? There are female carpenters but you were speaking as if you knew what you were talking about. I have all the materials here for replacement, all they needed was glue. So how do you get they are left with minimum wage after that?

  • It is a shame but it is the same in the uk i,m afraid cant understand it myself and then the same person then bitches that the illigal you gave the job to is taking all the work and the illigal starts do better that the so called legal !

  • Americans think that they are entitled to things they didn't earn.

  • @314jrock exactly

  • dam how that happen

  • @kingpinxxc grease fire

  • Sorry to hear that, however that person doesn't represent all of the American unemployed. I know construction workers that would love to take that gig.

  • @shallowabyss100 no doesn't represent all but this type of thinking is very popular. A lot of Americans believe that I want do this work unless I get this amount. I called over 10 contractors today

  • @shallowabyss100 send them my way

  • @mohammedabshaun I don't know anybody in the South Dakota area, but if you paid for my travel and lodging expenses, I would come from Atlanta and I'm not even licensed.

  • @shallowabyss100 I am sure you would.
