Btw, If a Politician strives to gain popularity, then it's NOT Jihad, rather it's a sin (Ria/Pride). The Prophet (PBUH) never engaged in Politics (becoming a Head of State) through popularity. If an artist strives as in your example, then it may/may not be Jihad, depending on the movie (whether it contains maksiat, syirik, ria, etc), unless the movie is dakwah (authentically), then it's Jihad. Hence Jihad in its true context is to "Strive in the Way of Allah" (according to the Al-Quran & Sunnah.
