Basilisk is one of the worst animes I've seen. And Afro Samurai doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. You left out Shigurui.... probably one of the best animes I've ever seen in terms of visual, dailogue, storyline and realism. I also found Blade of the Immortal to be pretty good even though its a short series that ends abruptly.

i know many ppl aren't happy with the anime port of mugen no juuni but i liked it enough to be part of a top ten samurai anime list. like most of the series in the list. you surprised me with samurai x as first place, when you said rurouni kenshin wouldnt be part of the list i thought you were including samurai x too. damn, kenshin in first place?! i was hoping for something else! i've been watching kenshin since i was a little kid and damn i still love this anime series, movie and ovas! i've been madly looking for something as good or at least close but it seems such thing doesnt exist. sword of the stranger was awesome, i liked death note a lot (but its not exactly an action anime) and i like some gun fights and even bare hands fights animes but it seems nothing can touch samurai x! o.o

Though there are a few episodes that focus on the girl Kagome.

Other then that it's based on medieval china and a samurai named Inyusha.

If you liked Samurai x, I would high recommend watching Inyusha (there very similar)

And If you like gun fights then watch "Hellsing" (The fighting scenes are amazing + good soundtrack)

@TehProjectWorld i think you mean "inuyasha". and yeah, hellsing was cool but i think rurouni kenshin's soundtrack is the best ever. you just can't beat RK in any aspect, its sooo awesome! any more gun fights animes? i watched hellsing, devil may cry, black lagoon, mezzo and im thinkng of watching gunslinger girl, kite and maybe cowboy bebop. and then theres agent aika but its and "empty" anime i think. just panties, boobs and guns.. any sugestion?

@tasfa10 "Gurren Lagaan" has a good story. It's one of those anime's with good fighting scenes and still has a decent story line.

Also try, "Fullmetal Alchemist" (original)

This anime I just saw recently and every episode is unique in it's own way.

In the anime the characters all hate each other and through the anime they grow closer.

(VERY original soundtrack + fighting is a big role in the anime)

@TehProjectWorld i never was much into big monsters/robots animes if you know what i mean. full metal alchemist didnt seem that good but i tryed at least. i may try gurren lagaan if you say its good but i really am into more realistic animes. that may be why i love both samurai x series and ovas and sword of the stranger. those are awesome. i liked death note a lot cause its a very inteligent anime. samurai champloo is ok (: im very "cocky" choosing my animes xD

@MrTop10GUY On YouTube Show in the Anime/Cartoons category, there used to have all 12 episodes of "Shigurui." There's only 4 episodes. What I like about this show is that there's no magical/supernatural powers used in the showdowns. It's all about techniques and samurai pride. It's slow paced, but intense. I suggest you check it out.

What about this one anime( its kinda old) where there are 6 samurai and I think they represent different elements (fire, water, wind, etc) . At one point the samurai transfer their power to the red samurai and he gets white armor or something like that.

i've watched champloo, samurai 7, sword of the stranger which is until now uncomparable, i didn't like basilisk, but there are many in this video i haven' ckecked out. for me awesome fighting scenes, a good history and some complications between the main characters is what i'm looking for. are there other epic samurai anime or films out there?

Only ones I can think of off the top of my head would be Ronin Warriors or Knights of the Zodiac. But the 2nd one is old, like REALLY old. I'm talkin 80's. Hope this helped you out =D
