I got it! You download the program to the computers you want to use it for the remote access. Like I uninstalled it from my computer and installed it on my friend's and that seemed to work. I have no idea... just glad it works

It is working backwards for me though. Like what did I do wrong? Ok first on my laptop I downloaded and installed LogMeIn. Then I created an account and everything. Then on my friend's laptop I opened the website up and add the computer and then I went to remote control on my laptop and it remote controlled my laptop.... Then I went on my friend's and it remote controlled mine... I want that to be the other way around. WHAT DO I DO???

@webgames13 You're at fault. You are supposed to go to your friend's computer, the install logmein on there. Then you add your friend's computer on your laptop on the website, then control it from there. Make sure your friend's computer is not turned off or sleeping.

so is Logmein a "cloud" based service? You can remotely access your pc, but can you view that pc's content on your iPhone, iPad or Touch? I'm a bit confused. I currently have CloudBrowse for the iPhone and didn't know if the technology was similar (minus the remote control feature).

Is it possible to somehow avoid being monitored by third party unless you agree with it? Thing is they forced us to use this at work so that they can monitor, track, watch every click that you make. I dislike it, it feels like loss of privacy. They forbid us to use facebook, watch youtube, read electronice newspaper, play pinball anything apart things related to work. @SasukeU854 Thanks for that I've noticed that Teamviewer is in some way interfering with my steam downloads as I have not been able to download a particular game, I've taken Teamviewer off & it's now working fine is there a setting within the software I'm missing as I also downloaded the VPN plugin as I want to bypass a Internet filter which the Aus government are trying to bring in.

One of the first things I do to a laptop that I have to remotly support is change the power options to prevent the laptop from going into sleep mode when the lid is shut. (right click desktop,properties, desktop, advanced, power, "what do do when lid closes" -> Do nothing.

also a good idea to change your powersettings to always on. last thing you want is to get to work and not be able to even reach your home pc because its on standby or hibernate. If you do want to keep you computer off and turn it on when you get to work then enable wake on lan, take note of MAC address, get a tomato firmware compatible router, enable remote access, take note of your network ip, type ip address in browser at work, use WOL under tools to wake up your machine and you know the rest

Yes, but if you want to do that, you can't use the automatic Java downloader. You have to click on the manual option (something like 'Having Trouble?')...
