Amazing, I get so much joy out of watching this. I live in Deepcar and have cycled up the Woodhead line many times and love local history....Aswell as rail! Many thanks
Absolutely superb and very nostalgic. I lived on the outskirts of Barnsley in 1969, only a few hundred yards from the Worsbrough branch of the Woodhead line. I remember watching this programme back then. It was only shown on BBc North. I have written to the BBC twice since, as have many other enthusiasts, asking them to release it on DVD but to no avail. Thank you for posting and making this superb documentary available to wider audience.
I've not seen this clip for probably 30+ years, and had nearly given up hope of ever seeing it again. As an ex Sheffielder it reminds me of a lot of things from my youth - and I can certainly vouch for Penistone being cold in winter as I remember sitting there one January day watching 76's in the snow.
You Tube is public!

what a fantastic social documentary from a long lost Britain. This should be available in the public forum not just on YT.

A great example of material which continues to be forgotten, languishing in the BBC archives.
Nice to see stuff like this 'escape' for viewing once in a while.
