  • The Interviewer is so hilarious.

  • I'm also curious how this matches up with modern endocrinology.

  • @KenMacMillan it is much more relevant today then when the book was written in 1960, listen, hes helping you deal with stress, frustration, fear, etc, people wasnt real frustrated in th 60's but if you look at today 2011, i get frusterated just setting in my house dealing with the music blairing from the neighbors,. he is also telling you what the golden key to success is SELF IMAGE , how you feel/think about yourself, could you be more successfull now or in the 60's considering the technology.

  • @KenMacMillan read it and you tell me what happens, but you have to use the tools given and they are simple. did the human mind evolve from the 60's, i think not maybe devolved alittle??

  • I wonder how this holds up to modern psychology.

  • Our steersman, who art in heaven, creativity be thy name

  • You can buy a used copy on amazon.com for one cent...no kidding!

Look for the older paperback edition with the red and white cover.

  • It's the opinion of yourself that counts!

  • timeless

  • /agree @ HanzSygnal

  • just bought the New Psycho-Cybernetics on audio cd. best thing to do while driving!!!! its newer and full of all sorts of scientific studies and examples.

  • What I think is crucial to applying Psycho-Cybernetics to ones life is having the attitude change is possible NOW. Not tomorrow, but today. I know so many who want change in life but always say "next week I stop smoking", "next week I'll start getting in shape" the crucial step is the bravery to Initiate Your Dreams Immediately.

  • You're exactly right, those people have what I've heard called "the someday syndrome."

  • @HanzSygnal Carpe Diem ;)

  • @HanzSygnal These type of people usually don't have enough leverage or Reasons to change, thats why they keep procrastinating. only when they link massive pain to their vice and massive pleasure to change, this will turn all their should s into must and propel them towards a life thats more fulfilling.

  • powerful mind...

  • Yes, this program works...and yes, you can see some changes quickly (even instantaneously). But for those ingrained habits, it takes a bit of work. It is certainly doable, but this is not a fake it 'til you make program. You have to change your authentic self.

One of the harder parts of changing one's mind is figuring out what to change it to.

So one of the first things you change your mind to is to learn about *how* to succeed at something.

  • I always liked this book. Think I should re-read it.

  • where did you get it? is the one from when it was first written, or is it a newer and revised edtion?

  • I got from Dillon's bookshop in Britain about 15 years ago. It's the 1960 version.

  • @capricious71

    how did it help u?

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids

There are two concepts I like about it. The idea of the self-image. Ok, that sounds obvious but we really do hold an image of ourselves and act according to it.

The other is imagining how we'd like things to be and using visualisation. For me, it's just about getting on with other people better. It works very well and without doubt we pick up on each other's "vibes".

On a separate note, I'm finding the idea of avoiding "brain inflammation" the key to happiness.

  • @herbal1971

I have same problem. I am only on chapter 5 so far. so far it is the best self help book i read. It kind of reminds me of "think and grow rich" "the master key system" "the science of getting rich" etc. those books talked about how thoughts shaped our destiny.

I find that cybernetics goes into more detail about how all this works in the mind. kind of like blueprint to your mind.

So how did it help you get along with people if you dont mind me asking :-)

  • @MikeTysonEatsKids

I used the visualisation of people being nice to me and me being relaxed around them. It works well but if one has anxieties that seem to have no basis, I attribute these in my case, at least to brain inflammation.

After years and years of anxiety, that was the answer. After that, techniques like those in Psychocybernetics start working.

    This is just my perspective.
