One of the best movies ever made. You have to watch it more then one time to understand the true vision of it. Most people cannot handle the violence in it, and yes the violence is rude. But without the violence, the movie would not make it's statement that good. It is the problem of good and evil versus the problem of freedom or captivity.
Nadsat is the language that Anthony Burgess created for the movie. The Nadsat translation of Ultra Violence is: Acts of incredible brutality and aggression.
Perhaps you should google something before you state it as fact.
If you dig this movie, look out for shock futurist band DROOGOLATOR, who take the ethos of the film directly onto stage during their act: not only do the group act and dress exactly like Alex and his droogs, there is a shocking sequence where a girl gets stripped naked,---live, on stage-------- in tribute to the movie.
For those that have not seen this film = GO OUT AND RENT IT! Better yet just buy it... it's one that you can watch over and over... you'll pick up things you missed the first time.
@DaredevilProd I used to own the Soundtrack on vinyl but I wore it out... serious scratches in it like most of my favorites lol. I need another copy of this soundtrack as well as the Movie itself. I am definitely a fan of this movie. Cheers!
i effing love this movie, but i can't find a way to watch it, i don't have it on dvd, and NOO one on youtube has uploaded it or re-uploaded it..this sucks
@EmmetCullenLover Try ordering it at sanity or a video store thing, i got it for ten bucks after a two week wait, brilliant movie. You wont find it on youtube because its rated 'R'.
Not really. If I remember correctly the book ends beyond the movies ending. That is, after the ending scene in the movie, the book goes on a bit. But it's an anti-climax. The movie ended better.
I find it goes about the most important ethical and social question: "What do you chose, with all it advantages and disadvantages, free will or the allowance to use therapy?" You''l serach yers for the real answer.
I've never seen the movie either, but the book was about a kid who went to jail and got out early on an experimental re-conditioning program. It's a horrorshow book.
it´s a bout a very brutal street gang.one day alex the main caracter is put in jail for murder and they try a new therapie on him that makes aggresiv and criminal people like him to harmless persons how can´t even see violence of any kind.
the movie is about the effect society has on humans and how society has reached a point where it is so bad and violent that a good person just can not survive, you have to adapt
It was never Alex not resisting the girls, it was the girls not resisting Alex and his "gentlemans" goloss. Alex was never "different" (at least not in the movie), he was being controlled, hence the "I was cured alright" line. The movie is about the subjectivity of humanity and freedom of choice to the will and influence of the state, questioning if it is better to be forced to be good, or having the ability to chose to be bad.
its about a dystopian future were teens are in a cultural revolution , the police are corrupt and the goverment cannot govern . society is on the brink of extinction so tries to change human nature
this movie was really good but it could have been done in a lot less time, it ws like a two hour film that could have easily been a 1 1/2 film. also there could have been a bit less nudity and sex, i mean you needed some of it of course but i think it was a bit over the top, strange movie but i loved it!
kubrick included the amount that he did to show the mind of alex in a way other than telling you about it the movie. as you watch all the violence and sex you grow desensitized and/or accustomed to it which brings you closer to alex
I liked how you also explained the story a bit, because many it seems, if they have not seen it yet, don't understand what it's about when looking at the original trailer.
I'm reading this book, and it is good so far. Im at the part where he's just being released from the testing. My dad says that I shouldn't watch the movie though...I don't know how it could be worse then what's in the book or what, but he's just like "No you can't see! I don't want you to!"
the movie had a number of thoughts that were very abstract at the time.....especially bringing them to light in a movie.... like all the violent and homosexual references.... stanley kubrick (director) wanted to show just how barbaric the human race actually was, and he succeded.... and no one wanted to play his movies for that reason alone
at one point in time, it was impossible to see a single frame of this film ANTWHERE---legally-----in the UK. Today, the same old identical clips are trotted out everywhere, and the scenes are as common as TOM and JERRY used to be.

makes sense. I'm sure I'll never understand it and neither did Mr. Kubrick or Burgess. It's probably that ingenious.
