Do a Google search for Louis Dreyfus Highbridge Energy. This is her dad's company. One can easily understand why she wouldn't want that dirty bad Canadian crude undercutting her dad's billion dollar business.
The pipeline will be built either way. It will either go to American refineries or to the Canadian coast for Chinese oil tankers. Ms. Louis-Dreyfus, American cars will burn that oil cleaner than Chinese cars. American refineries will make gas in a much more responsible manner than Chinese refineries.
Oh, and much of the gas going into your hybrid cars on your way to DC _already_ come from those evil dirty Canadian tar sands.

There are no Tar sands in Canada. Bitumen deposits are called "Oil Sands". Tar = coal by-product. Where the Bitumen is near the surface, and is mined, clean fill is returned. Reclaimed land is less toxic after the Bitumen has been extracted. Sagd is used to extract bitumen via a drilled well. 80% of water used is recycled. Compare the environmental impact to produce this Oil, to Middle Eastern Oil delivered by tanker. We don't want a pipeline either. Refining in Canada is a better plan.
Great comment and I just stopped by to write something similiar. There currently exists over 2 million miles in the lower 48. This brand new pipeline is going to carry Canada's oil and replace some older existing pipelines capacity nearing the end of their life. Canada is economically blessed by having the good people of America as neighbours, but I cannot figure out their studipity on this topic.

I think about the other pipelines in place, not only keystone one. The problems we are having wtih those. This one is different though. It has major problems. Research it. It will also cause an expansion of US production. The oil industry plans to do fracking throughout the US. This pipeline will give them a way of exporting their product. I HAD to buy 6600 Watt generator, which runs on gas to get my well water,the septic to run, heat and a little electric for phone. The pipeline will be built either way. It will either go to American refineries or to the Canadian coast for Chinese oil tankers. Ms. Louis-Dreyfus, American cars will burn that oil cleaner than Chinese cars. American refineries will make gas in a much more responsible manner than Chinese refineries.

There are no Tar sands in Canada. Bitumen deposits are called "Oil Sands". Tar = coal by-product. Where the Bitumen is near the surface, and is mined, clean fill is returned. Reclaimed land is less toxic after the Bitumen has been extracted. Sagd is used to extract bitumen via a drilled well. 80% of water used is recycled. Compare the environmental impact to produce this Oil, to Middle Eastern Oil delivered by tanker. We don't want a pipeline either. Refining in Canada is a better plan.

Great comment and I just stopped by to write something similiar. There currently exists over 2 million miles in the lower 48. This brand new pipeline is going to carry Canada's oil and replace some older existing pipelines capacity nearing the end of their life. Canada is economically blessed by having the good people of America as neighbours, but I cannot figure out their studipity on this topic.

She's so wealthy that she could hire a crew to carry her.....the rest of us have to budget to be able to put expensive gasoline in our vehicles. What would she care if gas was over 5 bucks a gallon or more? no wonder she can be so flippant about trying to stop this pipline that will keep us in oil that's not coming from people who's wanting to kill us and while lowering the price.

People keeping bringing up Canada versus Arabs, but oil companies can be bought and sold. Some of the owners are China. Some are Arabs. I keeping hearing the high standards of Canada, but the facts don't support that.

@manoroaks Right, so let them drill this oil, pipeline it to the west coast, ship it to China, refine it there, ship it back to America, and buy it from the "global market".
Because that is how you save the planet, by making sure we have as much shipping as possible, and put refining in the environmentally secure country of China... which is the alternative option.

The oil industry already get out of the clean water act. They don't have to disclose the chemicals they use. So lets get rid of the EPA and lets let the oil industry do what the hell they please. I am hoping the majority of Americans care more about the water and air then getting a quick fix.

Gas went from 2.11 in Jan 07 to 4.12 in July 07 - U think price has anything to do with supply in market that's gamed by monopolies? U think these oil giants are friend? In every country they operate they take out as much $ as they can and leave the people poor in a land ruined by their pollution, unfit for anything else - look at what BP did to the Gulf.

I think about the other pipelines in place, not only keystone one. The problems we are having wtih those. This one is different though. It has major problems. Research it. It will also cause an expansion of US production. The oil industry plans to do fracking throughout the US. This pipeline will give them a way of exporting their product. Harold Hamm was against it until they agreed to this. So, unless your ready to drink oil, you should be against this pipeline.
