That's a silly thing to say karseyk. We have maps in the great and yes, proud state of TX and know that ya'll have more acreage. What dumb person are you arguing with?
Ya lol I live on the kenai peninsula and Anchorage was never evacuated haha some of that stuff is funny but if you live in alaska its really obvious and dumb and its nothing like that here. Some people still believe we go through straight 3 month light and dark periods haha the closest thing to that is about a month of dusk in barrow.
...lest we forget the big tough Navy Seals who had to be RESCUED on the outskirts of Los Anchorage in 1998 during winter maneuvers. That was real funny!!!!
funny clip, I spent 3 years(1997-2000) in Fairbanks while in the army. The funny things I remember were plugging my truck in,ice fog,and sliding through intersections on black ice. I enjoyed the summer's with the extended sunlight, enabling me to ride my four wheeler alot longer then in my home state of Pennsylvania. It's a cool state.
funny I am sitting here in Anchorage at the moment with 5 other Alaskans and NOT ONE persons remembers the CITY (Anchorage is not a town) being evacuated as you said it was.......maybe it was a dream you had one night!
hahaha man dont you hate how people can be so ignorant i mean hell i was born an raised her in eagle river and shit ive heard from like chatrooms...... people out of state are so closed minded and this video is a discase god people jus need to wake up and do some damn research before they talk shit yes i am an eskimo and i live in a fuckin igloo i get to work by a mush team of dogs and it snows year round... people are so stupid
Of course all places are not the same. Those who complain of how some place is not like the one they are accustomed to decide to complain about it simply because it is not the same as their "ideal". There will always be whiners no matter where they go.
And as for the negative comments about Alaska and the people there, well maybe you should take a step back and look at yourself. I spent 5 years and found it a wonderful place to live. It did not matter whether we were in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Kodiak or anywhere else for that matter, the people we very warm and friendly. Chances are that anyone that found it any different are probably finding the same where ever they are living and should probably knock the chip of their shoulders.
While the clip may not have been the funniest it was in no part the fault of the members of Air Force there since its Letterman's team of writers that write all of the Top 10 Comments.
If you are watching any of the Letterman Top 10 take them with a grain of salt...of course its not shorter days of work because its winter and of course someone's boss is not a moose
Meatstar--BORING? Thattagyrl has a serious point. I live in Kodiak, and I've lived in Wasilla and Anchorage too and Alaska is a GREAT and EXITING place to live. Apparantly redneck hillbillies like you have to much hay in your ears to understand that. I suppose you think we live in igloos too?
What a "boring place"? Apparently you've never been to Alaska. There's more to do here than anywhere else I can think of - and I'm originally from California!
Well, I won't say boring but I won't say exciting either. I was there 1998 to 2004 and althogh there werethings to do, the locals made it dificult with their backwards thinking. Whether it was the small-towners wanting to be big-city flk by pretending world events affected them or the women outnumbered by men thinking they were plus-size supermodels. This clip wasn't funny and the Air Force sux up there.
thanks a lot... where are you from oh exulted master of high culture? please leave your personal vendetta against alaska for being bigger and better than every other state at home..
maybe you should re-read my post. My vendetta, as you put it, wasn't against Alaska but the people I interracted with. If you think people define cities, states or countries then you're being prejudice. Alaska's a fine place, but again it was the people there that made it unenjoyable. And the Air Force still sucks!
People do define cities and states... If there were no people it would be a generic town. Many people consider San Francisco "Gay" (not me personally) Is this because they think the geographical CITY San Francisco is gay? No. It's because they think the people there are gay.(sorry, not my idea) Your rant against the people of Alaska has me amazed at how stupid and ignorant people are of Alaska.
OMG are you the slow one. Read my post again, especially the part that says "the ones I interracted with." That means the locals in the town I was in. You're only proving my point by not READING what you arguing with, which is EXACTLY how the people I messed with acted/thought. Let it go. Alaska's no better by you defending it on YouTube, dumbass.
I usually think arguing in the comments is annoying, but what you said frustrates me. I've lived in Alaska my whole life, and will agree that it can be boring, but only if you have the mentality that it is, and wont get off you ass to do something. Second, how do world events not affect Alaska? Do you realize that the easiest target for most of east Europe and Asia, should they ever decide to send a nuclear weapon would be Alaska.
Part two: Third, because of this, the US puts a lot into the military in Alaska. The Air Force in Alaska is, if not the best, one of the best in the country with some of the most advanced technology. Fourth, most people I talk to from not in Alaska say that Alaskans are some of the nicest people they know (but really bad drivers...).
I agree some Alaskans are very friendly. But, once again, the PEOPLE I INTERACTED WITH made it challenging. Ever live in an apartment bldg. w/ jerks for tenants? That could make your experience unpleasant but not judging the whole state by it. And I'm not saying my piece to convince you otherwise. You SHOULD have pride in Alaska, it's a great state. My experience could've been better though.
Remember the plane scare after 9/11 that made Anchorage think terrorist attack? The oil is in Valdez and Barrow, but the town evacuated to churches, abandoning work and causing more panic. As for AF, they kicked out airmen (be it man or pregnant woman) that refused ANTHRAX shots (NOT FDA approved) but re-hired Airmen that purposely failed Urinalysis w/ Weed as GS-15's on the flightline?
Well personally, Alaska's better. I'm not stationed here, though, so I guess I wouldn't know what being stationed here would be like. But I know that just because the days are shorter, doesn't mean they only work any less.
I'm in Elmendorf right now. Holy Sh*t.
