That's Frank doing Piggy. This was filmed back in the Muppets Tonight/Muppets from Space days before Eric took over. You can tell from the look of the puppets and their costumes that it's not recent.

really it's no different then other artists out there.

music wise- artists change styles all the time

so even gonzo, who is still the same performer underneath has changed to a degree because that's just how it goes over time

so it's not terribly distracting to have many characters performed differently.

Gonzo's being so sweet as he's defending Jim Henson. All of the Muppets should be thankful for having Jim around, even if some of them didn't know him.

It's the muppets.. that's who they are now.. i think the performs do a great job.. they have giant shoes to fill..

even people like oz and nelson, while still alive, have retired from a lot of their characters.. although i believe nelson still does sesame' work and dave goelz still runs strong with gonzo!..
