  • Japan had no plan, nor the capability to occupy Hawaii.

They only lost four aircraft carriers and one other ship.

That is not what hurt the Japanese at Midway. What hurt the Japanese was losing nearly all of their pilots.

Japan's fatal mistake at the beginning of WWII was failing to have enough experienced pilots that could be used to train more pilots.

  • @Zentrails They thought that at most, one or two aircraft carriers might be sunk at Midway instead of all of them. They had two aircraft carriers left behind, one operational but with not enough planes or pilots and another that was operational but didn't have enough planes or pilots. Yamamoto could have transferred pilots to the operational carrier to give him a fifth carrier at Midway.

  • If Japan had somehow defeated the US Navy and occupied Hawaii and Midway, I dont think there would have been any plans of invasion on Normandy. Because the Japanese had to rebuild and resupply their NAVY after a bitter defeat at Midway, it gave the US a spare time to plan out D-Day. If Japan had taken control of Midway, Hawaii, and continued pushing deep into China, mongol, and even parts of Russia, Germany would have remained in power in Europe.

  • Nice response, never really thought of it that way.
