@Kumtekmeon i guess that's one way to look at it. i told you mariah has done the studio version justice several times. divas live, top of the pops, des o'connor, tokyo dome, and snl and those are just the ones i've watched so i'm sure she's done it justice many more times. even in mariah's weakest performance of this song, she didn't have to take extra beats to catch her breath like shanice. vocally, mariah destroys shanice. but volume-wise, shanice wins. not necessarily a good thing
@im18dammit100 Now I've just returned from Watching MC on the Pavarotti concert AND and on Diva's Live and I am BLOWN AWAY as to how it is you can keep a straight face saying that MC did the recorded version justice? She was out of breath and had to mumble on the ending of words, she had to change the key in parts etc etc, AND ALL THAT even though she had music and backup singers. As you can clearly see here IF Shanice had wanted to be entirely subtle she could, BUT She is a theatrical singer.

Respect that music is far reaching. You should be honored that a TALENTED and well TRAINED and SEASONED artist of Shanice caliber has chosen to cover what some might consider insipid. @Kumtekmeon i guess that's one way to look at it. i told you mariah has done the studio version justice several times. divas live, top of the pops, des o'connor, tokyo dome, and snl and those are just the ones i've watched so i'm sure she's done it justice many more times. even in mariah's weakest performance of this song, she didn't have to take extra beats to catch her breath like shanice. vocally, mariah destroys shanice. but volume-wise, shanice wins. not necessarily a good thing

@im18dammit100 Now I've just returned from Watching MC on the Pavarotti concert AND and on Diva's Live and I am BLOWN AWAY as to how it is you can keep a straight face saying that MC did the recorded version justice? She was out of breath and had to mumble on the ending of words, she had to change the key in parts etc etc, AND ALL THAT even though she had music and backup singers. As you can clearly see here IF Shanice had wanted to be entirely subtle she could, BUT She is a theatrical singer.

@im18dammit100 For years I have been attacked by MC fans who wickedly TWISTED my words to say I'm discrediting MC when all I've done was to state FACTS. For eg. if I say she failed to do the recorded version justice, that means I'm qualifying it as awesome. However, I must disagree that Shanice hasn't done Yesterday justice LIVE. There are several examples on You Tube, also I wouldn't want for each singer to sound the same; I LOVE Barbra's 'Higher Ground' as well as Melissa Manchester.

Her most loyal You Tube fans have agreed that her voice only lasted around 5 years, and this was recorded and performed after 1997, so I am not surprised. I am however, SURPRISED that you said Shanice is yet to do 'Yesterday' justice live! The only one I I see shaky is with Justin, the others have held firm, and have LESS ??? than MC's My All.

(And btw, it wsn't a funeral it was a memorial service) But give her a break. She's performed live for 18+ years and still sounded amazing. As you say everyone screws up at time, it's just that too often makes one an EXCEPTION. Shanice whistles are more of a signature, because she is KNOWN for them without having to spend MILLIONS in promotions.

@mariahforever1990 Your stupid ass comment speaks for itself. Apparently you dont know shit about music if you dont know who Tracy Spencer is. Nobody is insulting Anita Baker because she is one of my favorite singers as well. Shanice can sing too, however if you don’t think so you can go elsewhere. Shanice and many of the other artists that I listed above made real music. Today we don’t have real music, all we have is bullshit. Chrisette Michelle and a few others are good, but talent is lacking.

@Xziau1 Anybody who wears the name Mariah HAS NO RESPECT for real talent. Tracie, Stacy Lattisaw, Shanice etc all these ladies were booted out by lesser talents who for political reasons got more marketing opportunities! But None who came after is worthy to walk in their shoes, because they got by their talents, NOT because they were sleeping with the boss, OR have a father who saw no problem trampling others to get his daughter on top! As you see Chrisette is not on top because she is REAL!

@Kumtekmeon I will say this and I am done....Music today does not compare to music made in the late 1980s and 90s. Music today does not make me smile like Shanice's song called "Turn Down The Lights".

@Xziau1 Thank you for mentioning that song. I have heard that song but never learned the name. I was finally able to find the video after reading your comment.
On topic: I love "My All" by Mariah Carey and it is one of my favorite songs by her. Shanice did a wonderful job singing this.

@kelvinpyaeko I don't know what the you are, BUT one thing I know and that is you are NOT making sense! There are no strains here. You are just BITTER that Shanice has OUTDONE your MC. Because since she cheated herself in the studio, MC is YET to deliver this song justly! Shanice has done so because she is an AUTHENTICALLY trained and experienced singer whose voice is fully in tact! So you may QUIETLY close the door behind you.

@kelvinpyaeko IF you have a preference then STICK to that preference, BUT don't come on mine and abuse my space, because I don't go on videos of artists who I don't rate to discredit them, because I'm MINDFUL that there are some who appreciate them. If I were bashing MC I would do so on her videos, I am SIMPLY EDUCATING lost lambs with the FACTS. If they can't stand the truth, then they NEED to stick to their preference! I am aware that MANY are under the impression, Fame=Talent!

@kelvinpyaeko Firstly Mr. Ignormus, Shanice wasn't singing MC note on OHN and ONE THING for sure, MC can NEVER perform on a Shanice stage, i.e WITHOUT Playbacks or background vocals. Shanice STOOD alone and did that song justice. So what if she went a little flat on the whistle? At least she didn't WREK the entire song as MC did at MJ's funeral. Epic FAIL is having to apologize for your POOR singing, and that was what MC had to do. At least Shanice didn't crack and break Like MC often does!

@Kumtekmeon u sound a tad bit ignorant saying at least mc didn't wreak the entire song as she did at mj's memorial service. I dont know if you are conscious of this or not but she was trying to hold back tears while singing live in front of thousands. Of course she is use to being on stage performing but she wasn't use to her idol mj dying. How insensitive of you. U r so quick to say shanice isn't as good as other singers but you fail to realize shanice is only human herself. She messes up too

@dimestarr91 Don't tell me MC was weeping over MJ months before his death when she did terrible on Oprah? In fact I recently got hold of her Adventure dvd and her singing was pitchy, even though she had playbacks and other supports. I am NOT here saying Shanice is super-human, I'm SIMPLY pointing to FACTS that she is better than MC. When will you people comprehend? I am complimenting MC. NOW, to say she is better than Rihanna would be an insult, but then again, maybe not.
