A Brit as a banker --What next LOL? Great to see both engines out and about doing what they were designed to do and providing such a splendid experience of the power of steam locomotives. A superb video -- Many Thanks.
Thank you. The loco at the back was 70013 Oliver Cromwell, which was tagged on as far as Hellifield, from where it took a separate tour north to Carlisle.
Love the night shot. Great sound! I grew up round that line from blackburn to Preston. Mill Hill was my local station. Then we moved to Whalley. The viaduct was at the bottom of our garden. Scots are one of my favorite locos. Thanks again.
Superb Video David, with well chosen locations and spectacular lighting..well done..5* I have just subscribed to your videos as obviously you produce top quality work.
Thanks Bob - only made that first spot by half an hour (getting up at 6.30 wasn't welcome ;-). Thank you very much for the wider compliment too - I'm trying to upload more and more, so watch this space! Cheers, David.
This is awesome. Great footage with a nice bonus of 70013 acting as (unofficial) banker. 5*. Good to see her back in steam. Mainline model trains brought out a green liveried 46100 Royal Scot a few years back and I have a model of 6115 in LMS black. I wonder if Hornby will produce a green liveried version of 46115 Scots Guardsman?
Was the airfix 46100 in kit form or a "ready to run" model? I have an old airfix catalogue with some railway model kits featured in it, which I am trying to obtain, but I've noticed on the web that the 2008 catalogue doesn't feature any railway models.
Ah right, thanks. I'll have a look for one myself to add to my LMS version. I know that Palitoy's Main Line brought out two versions of the Royal Scot. One was in the LMS livery, complete with commemoration bell, and the other was in BR's Brunswick green livery.
Sorry. Ignore my previous reply. Airfix railway models were bought out by Palitoy Mainline. Both companie's products were very similar anyway so, when Airfix folded, it was natural for Palitoy to buy that part of Airfix. Hornby now have Airfix though I don't know if they have the part that was sold to Palitoy.
Thank you. 70013 was attached to the train from Carnforth to Hellifield as it was running the Hadrian railtour to Carlisle later in the day. Attaching it saved a separate loco movement.
Thanks Mike - no rain was a bonus in itself hehe! I was quite pleased with the last shot as it was very nearly pitch dark. Quite spooky too - I wouldn't have fancied lingering much longer!
Quite an engine and quite a video too David. She seems to have been put together rather well. Love the light/colours in the going away shot at Clapham Moor. Thanks - Chris
Thanks Chris. The light jseemed to be lingering around that curve for 10 mins before it came, which was surprising given the wind speed. Quite a bonus for a going away shot.
Wonderful, especially the 'night scenes' with the lighted train windows.
Thanks for sharing! kb

Well David, one of these days we might actually meet. Hmm on opposite sides of the bridge at Hoghton, how bizarre is that.
Excellent stuff as usual. Keep on tracking, Hugh.

Another cracker, you set the standard to which we all aspire David, the night shot works so well.

Wow thanks so much Austin - that's very kind of you to say. I love night steam - the atmosphere just builds and builds.

Its a cracker David, i'm with Ralph, love the low light stuff, it focuses your attention on the sound of that fabulous exhaust. Matt.

Cheers Matt - I love steam in the dark (just get a bit spooked at times lol). Cheers, David.

Excellent as always, the stream/river at the beginning was of course the upper Lune wasn't it. The shot in the dark also worked very well.

Thank you. I have an 00 airfix model of 46100 in Brunswick green; would be nice to see 46115 in the same guise.

It was ready to run - a 1977 version. Got it second hand about 15 years ago.

Faultless! Well shot and well edited. Did you know 70013 was going to be on the back when you chose your bridge at Clapham?
SteamAgePictures 3 years ago
Thanks Mark. No, I was completely surprised by 70013's appearance - not a bad consist for a train running in 2008!
