When u run on win 7, it temporarily disables the aero theme until you quit the game

Not very hard to max out to a playable level, runs very smooth with these:

Nvidia GeForce4 TI 4200

AMD Athlon(TM) 2100+ (1,7ghz)

heres some tips, when you first start you should task all of your settlers on food so then you can age up very quick and then task to different resources in order to obtain required aging resources and wood for building barracks and whatever

im 110% sure theres a way to make it unlimited pop limit, not to mention multiplayer which is bound to have options / mods to fix that issue

i may actually consider buying this game again!
