it's refreshing to a duet video instead of a vs. video. it doesn't matter which singer you like (it's your preference) I just don't understand why people have to bad mouth either singer. if you prefer Tarja's singing over Anette's (that's fine it is your preference/opinion) you may prefer Anette over Tarja (again your preference/opinion) or if you are like me you actually like both singers. it's all about preference.

This 'duet' does rather bring the difference into sharp focus. It's a great pity the earlier Nightwish lineup fell out, especially as both factions appear to be continuing doing much the same sort of thing, but both somewhat diminished by their separation. It's fair to say that Tarja is a very hard act to follow.

Anette is a wonderful singer. Perhaps she cannot sing some of the songs that were better fit for Tarja, such as Wishmaster (she sounds far from perfect here), but it doesn't mean she can't sing. Nightwish is still Nightwish without Tarja. For those who say Nightwish is now pop, have you ever actually listened to a pop song??

Annette can't sing Tarja's songs because she doesn't have the strength needed to perform well in those songs. She sounds like crap or needs a lot of backing vocals to keep the singing consistent. I think the band should follow a new path and leave Tarja's songs behind because it's making the old fans feel like shit!

Tarja was the voice of Nightwish.I still do not understand why they couldn't make some compromise about her stay in band.Anette will never reach the sound and voice of Tarja!
Luckily, Anette does not need to sound like Tarja...she just needs to sound like herself, and in that, she has the flexibility to sing the lyrics Tuomis wrote, any way she and Nightwish sees fit too. I stopped listening to Nightwish when they switched singers and started listening to Tarja Turunen. I'm sorry but I'm a classically trained soprano. So I'll always go with Tarja. Those of you saying that Anette shouldn't sing the older songs, picture going to a Nightwish concert and wanting to hear Nemo, Wishmaster etc and then finding out that they're not playing anything pre- Dark Passion Play - you'd be pissed and want your ticket refunded. Be careful what you wish for.
Anette sings the old songs the way she can, the vocal arrangements were written by an operatic singer which she isn't so of course she can't hit the A flats but at least she sings them at all.
annettes voice just isn't powerful enough for the old songs, she's like a child trying on her mother's clothes and they simply don't fit. she's a good singer though, in her own way. and that's what she should do, sing the new songs her way and what fits her voice and stop singing the old ones. then the whole discussion about who's better maybe would die down. comparing her to tarja singing the old songs annette only can lose.
Every singer are unique; it's really hard to replace very good and unique singer like Tarja. Some of you can't imagine the pressure what Anette has to take when she sings older songs.
And Anette don't have that kind of experience from classical music that Tarja have so that makes it much more difficult to cover older songs.
Nightwish had make their choice, deal with it. I can admit that Tarja was better singer at Nightwish, but Anette can do it well. Not as good as Tarja, but as good as she can.

Luckily, Anette does not need to sound like Tarja...she just needs to sound like herself, and in that, she has the flexibility to sing the lyrics Tuomis wrote, any way she and Nightwish sees fit too. And Anette actually contributes creatively to the band, that must be a refreshing change for all of them. Take care all :)

Well all you loosers who never will made it to a LP or even on stage.
Anette isnt Tara she cannot sing like her.. but Tara is also restrictet to her Classic voice.. ( she said that herself in an interview that she cannot sing in another wa ) some sound better in this way.. some in the other.. I still like NW.. true the "old" songs sound better with Taras voice but thats why they changed theyre way-
And.. BTW.. Doro is the Metal Queen for all times :) never mind who can sing better or not *g*

I stopped listening to Nightwish when they switched singers and started listening to Tarja Turunen. I'm sorry but I'm a classically trained soprano. So I'll always go with Tarja. And this is despite the fact that she is a leo and I'm a scorpio! Plus, I don't like the way nightwish sounds now. It's too poppy and not gothic anymore. So bascially what I'm saying is...BRING ON THE OPERA TARJA TURUNEN! I LOVE YOU!!!!

Those of you saying that Anette shouldn't sing the older songs, picture going to a Nightwish concert and wanting to hear Nemo, Wishmaster etc and then finding out that they're not playing anything pre- Dark Passion Play - you'd be pissed and want your ticket refunded. Be careful what you wish for.
Anette sings the old songs the way she can, the vocal arrangements were written by an operatic singer which she isn't so of course she can't hit the A flats but at least she sings them at all.

annettes voice just isn't powerful enough for the old songs, she's like a child trying on her mother's clothes and they simply don't fit. she's a good singer though, in her own way. and that's what she should do, sing the new songs her way and what fits her voice and stop singing the old ones. then the whole discussion about who's better maybe would die down. comparing her to tarja singing the old songs annette only can lose.

Every singer are unique; it's really hard to replace very good and unique singer like Tarja. Some of you can't imagine the pressure what Anette has to take when she sings older songs.
And Anette don't have that kind of experience from classical music that Tarja have so that makes it much more difficult to cover older songs.
Nightwish had make their choice, deal with it. I can admit that Tarja was better singer at Nightwish, but Anette can do it well. Not as good as Tarja, but as good as she can.

Say what you want.. Annette is AWESOME, but she isn't meant for these songs. Tuomas wrote them for Tarja's vocal range.. and Annette can't sing within that range.

Yes, the Anette era begins, but she should NOT NOT I repeat NOT sing Wishmaster or any song Tarja can do better anyway!! The songs from the album Dark Passion Play fit her voice much better. I do wonder how Tarja would sound, singing one of those songs...
