just watched your lovely cat watching those gorgeous little stoats ive got eight rescue ferrets and just love little critters like that thanks for the great vid
@TheFuzzball1 You're very welcome and I'm pleased you like it. Great job looking after all those ferrets. Our cat, Missy, gets to see all sorts of wildlife in the garden but she's a house cat so that keeps her out of danger. We haven't seen any stoats for quite a while but they won't be far away I'd guess.
@cateyes221981 Sounds as if you're disappointed it isn't a "hunting" video - join the other 15,000 plus who probably hoped for it too. You'll not see that stuff on this channel I can tell you.
I dunno if I'm right, but I don't think cats hunt stoats... Stoats actually are able to take down Rabbits, which are ten times their size, and the cat looks about the same size. Not to mention that the cat is domestic, so likely it isn't gonna be a 'great hunter,' unless the owner wants to put their pets in that danger (that being said cats are still strong, capable animals).
Basically what you're asking for is a bad owner, for shame.
Isn't wildlife wonderful?? "Walter" and "Murray" there will end up firing up your BBQ, if you let 'em. We were selling our orchard years ago, and buyers drove by our house...and saw a HUGE mother black bear and her cubs! (They didn't buy the place...). We've had coyotes mate, skunks eat our dog's food, etc. on our patio. Life will out!
It almost looked like that 1 stoat figured that straw mat feels kinda good to itch and rub the whole body on. Whilst I'm at it, rub some scent into it.
That really does look like a straw mat - I hadn't thought of that.
It is in fact an outdoor table and, as you say, the stoat is really having a good time!
The stoats are still here but we've caught sight of something else with a bushier tail - will post it if I can get some video. It could be a pine marten or maybe a polecat.
Could very well be a Pine Marten that you saw. Check out this vid. These people are also in the U.K. Brave little buggers coming right in the the window.
She's a house cat, so fortunately that wouldn't occur - but I needed a tetanus injection once when I was holding her at the vets... and she also had the vet worried!
She's a very affectionate cat... but she doesn't take any crap!

My little terrier would have a fun time messing with those 2 little varmints. He has a vendetta going with the raccoons atm.

lol my cat would have gone for them, he's massive, killed a pine marten last year and dragged it in the house :L

That's sad to here, because Pine Martens are extremely rare in the UK and numbers are dwindling
FishinGuitarMad 2 years ago
yah it was a shame, but there are quite a few here, i live in the highlands though so i suppose they might be quite concentrated here.

Thanks for the link.
We've looked into it further and I think the most likely contender due to its colouring and fur texture is the Polecat.
Will send you a message if I post some footage.
