There are a lot of gimmicks, 2D sections, platforming, and those of you who whine about the "boost to win" feature in Unleashed, you're wrong, you have to react to every obstacle in front of you, or else you'll die or get crushed, or stopped. It's the adrenaline and rush in every level what makes the game awesome. And Modern stages in Generations obviously too.

Any one who's played the Megaman X series may know what I'm talking about, but doesn't this theme kinda sound like something out of the Megaman X4~X6 soundtracks?

Especially at parts 0:07 and 0:33.

@KerythDraws Sonic games wouldn't be challenging if all you had to do was press a button and hold the analog stick forward. Also, there are plenty of long stretches on which you can haul ass and just enjoy the ride. There has to be variety in a game or it will get boring...fast.

You know, it kinda sucks that boosting takes away half the sound just to add effect. It ruins the flow of the music, so I try not to boost as much as possible.
