For years and years people have moaned how easy top player was on PES. Well, finally they have made it a challenge for any player, and guess what? People still moan like bitches...

If it's too hard for you just decrease the level, morons. Or you could always try a kids game like FIFA if you don't like a challenge...

@melted88 when i decrease the level all i get is the AI pressing less. the AI attack is alwaays the same, making impossible passes and getting past every single time . when i increase the level the AI presses like it fcking depends on it and i can't get a damn thing done cuz every press is a foul, and when its near the box they don't even count it as a foul

the problem is not that it's harder, but that it seems unfair, it's like the cpu gives you a bunch of defenders that are absurdly stupid on your own team, they dont give cover, they are too late on making obvious defensive choices. You can't defend yourself against those flaws, it seems like my timing on 1 on 1 on top level doesn't matter much, you cannot stop opponents often. 50/50 balls are almost impossible to win, it's more like cheating than smart programming that makes it hard

Well I understand defending in PES 2012, but I can't say I like the way they did it. I rather have a real tackle button so the player sticks his leg out on YOUR command, so a good tackle depends on your timing .

Now a defender sometimes tackles, sometimes he simply doesn't, There is no tackle button in the game where you can rely on. Simply a good responsive strafe button to cut down passes and space and a real tackle button, that all I need.

CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP ME?! I'm playing the 'Master League online' mode and I want to know how to make my defenders have a defensive mentality and not all stand at the half way line. Im constantly getting hammered by balls over the top because my slow as shit defenders i.e. Jaric, Stremer, etc. run like fucking women and my opponents loft a through ball over the top and just stroll in one on one with my shit keeper and have an easy tap in. I've tried manually moving the players but still nothing

Definitivly i am giving up on pes, i was looking forward playing Master League as i do every year with my favorite team, but this is just stupid. Every team plays like Barselona, every player is a great dribler, header, when playing cpu.

There is no diference playing mancester of panatenaikos everythig is the same.

arziankorpen i agree with you m8 i have played on top player for years ive tried tips on here whilst they work a little if the computer wants a goal itll get a free kick and score, ive always loved pes but this yrs im not sold on! im giving it a couple more days n then its gettin traded and ill probably get last years again :(

Yeah what you are saying sounds good, but in the video, you got the ball 25 to 30% of the times you tried. Truly its impossible to defend on top player. I've played this game since the first one came out on PS1 and it's never been this hard, I have always played it on top player. It's impossible to defend against the AI even with smaller teams, they'll play one o one's and dribble you easily. Its just ridiculously stupid, also the goalkeepers suck, one mistake will cost you a goal.

Good tutorial, nice of you to do this for other PES fans. It does seem much harder to defend in PES 2012 but once you know the controls you can get good results. The training mode is pretty good for figuring out what to do with the different modes.

it works in 1-1.... but when the CPU is attacking with 3 or 4 players... they are just unbeatable..... and add that your defense acts dumb.....

My friend , this game is terrible , i feel soo sorry for all pes fans because what konami has done this year is an injustice to their fans , dont even ask me about the defence and ridiculous will of the cpu to dribble , im giving back my game and buying battlefield 3 , i feel so sad that i must get rid of pes but it is not worth my stress , absolute bullshit from konami this year , they have shown how to go a step back in quality and development , PLEASE KONAMI MAKE ANOTHER SIMILAR TO PES 6!!

@windiardi delete the patch, the gameplay is better. that bullshit with all CPU players running by you like messi doesn't happen on the game pre- patch. unless, its messi. to delete patch, go to game-> game data utility -> delete file that is called " pro evolution soccer 2012", you'll know its the right one because its 15 mb. then play the game :). the patch doesn't effect any DLC or any OF' you have downloaded, all squads will be still updated. test it out. tell me what you think.

@windiardi It works when you remove the patch, but then it's much easier, the computer is also less smart, pretty similar to PES 2011. I'm frustrated, the difficulty should be somewhere along the middle.

there is no defense in PES12. just simple as that.there is way to improve your marking and not count 3 or 4 goals from cpu in halftime. but this is like learning playing piano....if i wanted to learn how to play piano....i would play piano not PES12

Another thing, if you keep pushing back keeping your opponent in check and giving them space they'll just pick through balls. You contain, you give time, you give space, you give opportunities. There needs to be a balance of containing, and going in for the tackle.

I don't understand how to defend is PES 2012. If the idea is call team mates to do my work, I don't like it. I just wanna play and have fun. The CPU plays a lot better than me at the hardest level and... no, I'm not going to spent half of my life in the next months learning how to play this while watching CPU playing and scoring goals to me. lol

Just about every single time the attacker beats the defender, even the times when you tell us that 'here is some really good defending'. Hell, even when you win the ball the AI gives attacker the advantage and he gets through.

I think the bottom line is that on the PES 2012 demo at least, the defending is totally fucked. Hopefully this will be somewhat fixed for the release of the full game along with a properly functioning online game at long last. (fat chance).

@MatDerKater No, Training mode is training mode, they make it difficult on purpose. Now, watch my match on top player , I hold CPU to 0 goals and only 5 attempts all match. @ThePesTutorials Wow, nice match in that link, you DOMINATED THE CPU. They almost did nothing. Excellent defense. But yes, in this clip it doesn't always show, but I have been adopting these tips you say, now I beat CPU on top player and they don't attempt many shots on me now. thanks

Lets face it, the defending in PES 2012 is fucking atrocious and no matter how much bleating you do or how many videos you post praising/describing the defending, the bottom line is that it is a broken system that just doesn't work that well and to be honest, your videos do more to show it not working than it working. THey didn't make it hard for the Training, this is how it works in game as well. Shame cos this shit prevents PES 2012 from being a classic.

Post a clip playing with Rangers AGAINST Inter Milan, where you prevent Eto'o and co from bursting your defense as though it were a wet paper bag and then your video may have more credibly.

@MatDerKater I completely agree with u, after i played a few games, i was like what the hell, am i the only one who noticed this !!?!?!? taking the ball from a relatively technically gifted player is next to impossible, i played with decent teams at first ,after a while i started choosing teams which have competent defenders like Mexes, Pique, Juan.... and still the same thing, offensive players cut through them like butter, and by offensive players i don't mean the superstars like Mesi
