  • It's a shame that midtempo is the new easy listening by today's Top 40 CHR standards; only on AC do these songs have a place; back in the '70s, '80s, and '90s, soft songs would be mixed on Top 40 right with the midtempo/fast songs.

  • Very enjoyable...

  • Geez, this makes me feel old. all this is from when I was in high school. But this is when MUSIC WAS MUSIC> I don't know what the hell it is now. Crap is a word that springs to mind.

  • Thanks a lot for posting this amazing compilation!!!

But there should be a small correction as "The Sound of Silence" from Simon & Garfunkel its from 1967 actually from the movie "The Graduated" so do is "I Started a Joke" by the Bee Gees is from 1969

  • @VanLat7 - the movie is The Graduate

  • Jim Croce rocks !!!

  • My fav year was 1976. 17 years old, left school , left home & spent the year picking apples and opening scallops and just soaked up every song. Now if i hear a song i know instantly when its from that year

  • I thank God I was growing up with this music. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • A beautiful, perfect slide mix...can you post some more, maybe? I'm a music collector...

  • With great music comes great ego

  • Q who was john denver?.....A just a plane-down-to-earth guy...lol

  • montreemtx I believe it was the beginning of Fathre and Son from Cat Stevens which was also played secong

  • When music was music. I'm soooooooo glad I grew up back then, I fell bad for todays youth!!!!

  • gr8 music from a brilliant decade wish it was now

  • the sounds of silence is a 60s hit, Simon and garfunkel are from the 60s, they sang separately in the 70s..

  • every song is new to me ,and i'm in love with every of them now

  • @sonywu you just keep on looking for more. There's tons of great music of the 60's and 70's. Check out Free, Credence Clearwater, Carol King, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Blue Oyster Cult...

  • thank you for the great music you shared with us...

  • great compilation. Made me shudder with memories.

  • God has got a twisted kinda humor.... not giving me the chance to live the 70's.

    *sigh*

  • Gracias me amigo! This stuff is fabulous, I was 10 or 11 when Woodstock took place, I wish I could have been there....how the years have gone by. I am now 50+ and miss the 70s very much. Thanks for allowing me to drift back in time .....

  • Carpenters rule!

  • 70' music---NOTHING COMPARES!!!NOTHING!!! AWESOME STUFF!!

  • Stevie Nicks was hot as hell. I grew up with her on the radio but I guess I must not have known what she looked like. Or probably she seemed too old to me at the time. This many years later, I can now look at her in perverted ways. ha ha

  • Many are gone; RIP.

  • Wonderful! So many are gone now; RIP.

  • Wonderful!

  • This stuff sounds really peaceful compared to Slayer...sounds nice though.

  • To the generation who were born post-'80s, in my opinion, you people missed one of two ONE-OF-A-KIND eras of music-the '70s AND '80s! In my opinion, back then, an artist, LITERALLY, had to SING IF he, she, or they, wanted a career in music. TODAY, UNFORTUNATELY, one too many artists rely too heavily on modern technology to "enhance" his, her, or their, vocal/musical talents. In other words, the TECHNOLOGY "sings" or "plays" the instrument(s), NOT the ARTIST!

  • cat please don't bomb us

  • @shibby1965 Idiot

  • GREAT SONGS VERY WELL DONE!! MANY AWESOME MEMORIES! THANK U!!

  • Sound of Silence is from the mid 60's!

  • Im 39 n it drives me crazy wen kids pull up behind me or i drive up behind them in there playing mostly hip hop really loud. All I can think is howed did kids get so fcked up n wat they call music. I nevr thought id say this but wen it comes to rap im totally for censorship. More radio stations got to say screw mainstream were going to play songs from the golden age of music 1965-1984.

  • @EnglshRoc How did it happen? The negrification of America.

  • @EnglshRoc I blame the media and the fucking government for not provided proper education and for being sick fucks who only think about killing and stuffing their filthy snouts with money.

  • @michor10 Our money, you mean.

  • @tjttzcspplt ...yes. Of course!

  • @michor10 Agree with you brother. No doubt lack of parental love and attention plays a huge part.

Why can't parents pay the attention that all parent instictively wants to provide? Because the stress of paying bills and keeping up with the Jones'.

The answer to revolt against the banks, corporations and government. The youth is learning, albeit not majority, but good always prevails.

    Let us stand, unite and win for humanity;

  • The question was what was the song before not the song after

  • Santiago, you know music, come to Chicago and we can listen to this together with my friends !!!!!!!!

  • superb sound quality. Kudos, great job!!!

  • I think from 1966 to 1983 is just about "where its at" when it comes to music.

In that time span.........Most of what you hear today falls into that bracket of quality production

  • this what you should i like in music if you got taste.

  • I have to admit something. At the time I thought some of these acts were the Anti-Christ...lol Now I'm older and can say that while maybe some of these acts weren't my cup of tea at the time, they were someone else's favourite

So I say well done to them.

  • Wow..Emmylou Harris probably won't ever get her proper due.

    Such a voice!

  • Wow

But what song is that before I Needed You?

    Please please advise...thank you

  • @montreemtx Father and son Cat Stevens

  • @ignacioale

Thankssss... but I don't get it.

I mean the first one....with only instrumental. no vocal is heard before changed to I Need You of America

  • @montreemtx - that's the intro of "Father And Son" by Cat Stevens. Then it goes into "I Need You" and then back into the lyrics of "Father And Son".

  • @Enerjee : Thanks a ton. Will re review thisTOUCH a fain.

    Enjoy

  • @montreemtx its the beggining of father and son by cat stevens, regards

1973. Después la hora de los Credence.

  • It was a much more peaceful time now long gone but the for people whom experienced it, know that it was such a lovely era to either be an adult , teenager or kid growing up. TV shows were a reflection of that wonderful time, like MASH for instance. I mean the content and the tastefulness of the shows...

  • @silicon605

I was born in '70, can relate...

  • muito bonito obrigado alejandro

  • IMAGINE, LET'S GO BEATLES

  • Loved every single one. Wings were a great great band. Al Stewart's Year Of The Cat--splendid tune. And, you didn't forget John Denver. He left us way too soon---John Lennon, too. Carole King's, Tapestry album---still have it. Eagles New Kid In Town, one of my favorites by that band. Beatles, Let It Be, legendary. Bob Welch, French Kiss album, another one that I still have. And, Bob Seger. Hey, I'm from Detroit. nuff said :) Thanks for posting this, all great stuff!

  • Excuse me but "The Sounds of Silence"-Simon & Garfunkel was #1 for the first two weeks at the beginning of 1966,"I Started A Joke"-Bee Gees hit #6 in January 1969. I was an oldies disc jockey for many years, its my job to know this stuff. Growing up the transistor radio was always with me. Good collage of music, accuracy of time period counts though.

  • What a nice collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • I wanna have the same look of Cat Stevens

  • @ignacioale you did a very good job of posting a compilation of the 70s hit songs with title & artist included. Thanks for this. It brings back the best of yesteryears. Beautiful songs.

  • totally awesome, brought back a lot of memories growing up in the 70's, how the years have gone by,

  • i wish i had grown up in the 70's...

  • the 70's is the best decade for music, anything after that is downhill.

  • @asiantrolls

true, 60s was also a great year

  • Thanks my friend, I've lookin for the song We said goodbye, I heard it only one time and never knew the title or the singer, but your compilation lead me to it.

  • what ever happend to al stewart (year of the cat)...seriously whatever happened to this guy, he just slipped off the radar.?

  • excelente é tudo oque ele tem

  • i think the 70s is the best & i'm only 41 but remember my mom listening to am wls out of chicago & i grew up 2 to 3 hours from there

  • only 41? lol

  • I grew up in Chicago during the 1970s, listened to WLS All the time

  • Remember.. "Animal Stories" with "Old Uncle Lar. and his sidekick Little Snot-nosed Tommy"?

  • I was born in 86, and this music is in my opinion some of the greatest. It set the bar, and the new generations music just can't quite reach that height. I won't say that there has not been other music that i enjoy as much, but certanly not as many songs.

  • Gracias Alejo. disfrute tu trabajo. Juan Fargo. N.D. El invierno is cruel over here 40 below 0 on Januany, and this kind o music will warm me up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • By the way, The Sounds Of Silence by Simon and Garfunkel was released in September of 1965. Way before the '70's even started. Just saying.

  • What I would give to go back to the '70's and relive my memories!

  • @spiderdragon1969 what i would give to be born in the 70s...Everything was great.Well maybe not everything, but the music, jeez, now that is some great stuff.

  • Year of the cat - al stewart is one of my all time faves, that first minute of the song is epic......

  • very good montage. I found a song that i have been looking for. You made my day, and i will come back and listen again!!

Greetings from Monterey Bay area of California!!!

  • Just curious.....what was the song?

  • The song was "Mainstreet" by Bob Seger. My school bus driver used to play that on my way to 5th grade in 1975. It brought back some really nice memories, and some sour childhood memories that i would rather forget.

  • Great musics!!
