i'' make afeeble attempt to explain to the gent for america. the mainland is rich im resources a land of plenty and yet they came and saw hawaii and just had to have it. with the might of their military they took the sovereign nation of hawaiin jailed her queen and did a fine job of screwing up paradise. i hope that helps you to understand our anger.
I love Dennis. Just amazing! Can someone tell me about the protesting and why the anger over being apart of the US? I'm from the states and have been there many times, but don't really know the history of it. I have a place on Oahu
Because Hawaii was wrongly stolen from our Queen by greedy Americans. They imprisoned in her own palace, stole her throne, and forced her to change her name a forever live as a regular citizen and never take part in any governmental activities. Very tragic.

Dennis, the golden voice is truly an Hawaiian legend. His legacy will live forever and his golden voice will never be forgotten. He's truly the beautiful sunshine of Hawaii.
dennis has generously contributed much to the future of hawaii. in Maui he freely gave of himself to our amazing keiki of punanaleo and kulakaiapuni to ensure the ola mau ka oleleomakuahine no laila nui ku'u aloha
Dennis died? I did not know that and am very sad of this news. please confirm if possible. He was good man. All I can figure is the good people die young. Bummer. Please confirm this it was not in HI. local news. Mahalo.
Wow. I confirmed it myself. I knew him on Maui in early 90's but I moved to mainland in 98', for 6 years and did not know. God bless him and his Ohana. From Rick, that, lived on Walaka and remember you all! Aloha!
Hui, e titah! Mahalo! It was such a loss to have Dennis pass away so quickly. Watching this I can see him there. The last time I saw him, he came to Sacramento 2 yrs before his death and sang this song. His falsetto was so pure. I sure do miss it! E ola ka lahui hawai'i! Eo!
I New Dennis on Maui. (Walaka place) Always glad to hear him ! He is a great musician , but always put his Ohana first ! Hope all is well ! Aloha, Rick. (Oahu).

It is Rare indeed that a person can Catch the Spirit of a Nation in a Song ,and this is the Ultimate in that Genre.
I Can only Thank the Internet for Introducing me to the Song ,even Though I have Visited That Beautiful Country during my Merchant Navy Days.
It is a Pity that The Nations of the world do not takenotice of such strong Sentiment in Song.
