if you pull sumo off the floor you should be pulling sumo for a rack press not conventional.. dont use straps either build up your grip and increases your deadlift
@YoCard Ha ha, yeah, chances are, your feet would be at the very edge of the rack (maybe on top of the rack's bottom rail). True, ROM would be super short, but maybe you could raise your platform / lower the safety bars ... or if possible, block pulls might work (if you have the materials for them).
Can you describe the ideal/recommended setup for rack pulls (in terms of bar position, and equipment used)? I also noticed you created platform to stand on.
I've never done this before, but I kind of want to start, what are some things I should keep in mind?
@byakuugan914 I created an elevated platform or else the range of motion would be terrible. There are essentially 3 ways to measure out the rack pull. All of these use a cage. Just make sure the cage is sturdy. Some cages are great for deadlift since it has the perfect height where the bar rests, but some cages you have to add more plates on the bottom to elevate yourself to increase the ROM.
End scenario, you want three types of rack pulls....
Very impressive, but leave those straps.. strong people don't need them. Do you know how much better it feels to manage huge amount of weights with nude hands? :)

If you pull sumo, shouldn't you do your lockouts sumo?

@shortkid422 I honestly have no idea how to do sumo rack pulls. Where would my feet go lol. Plus the ROM would be nothing.

@shortkid422 I can't lower the bar any more :(. I'm already standing on two plates haha.
I've tried a sumo stance but it is way too narrow. It would be severely modified sumo stance. You think conventional rack pulls won't carry over?
YoCard 1 year ago
@YoCard They'll likely carry over, just not as much as sumo rack pulls because your stance and leverages will be different between the 2 pulls.

@byakuugan914
1. Don't let your penis become erect.
2. Let your testicles hang low.
That's pretty much it, I guess..... ;P

This is my exact same problem. I just missed lockout w/500 twice in about the last two months. Keep at it. You'kll get it.

@Scurpione I don't use straps for deadlifts, but for rackpulls, I want to overload my body without thinking of grip.
But I love non-strapped lifting.
YoCard 1 year ago
@YoCard
OK, that's fine. I think rack pulls can also be used to strengthen the grip, but you have the choice on what you wanna focus on.
Keep on training! :)
