No, seriously : G Major pentatonic can be used with a...surprise... a G major chord.
By the way and this goes fo all questions on general music subjects - use Google- just put in "Major pentatonic" and you will get the answer right away.
if you didn't learn from this vid, then you must be a bassplaying-genius, or you werent paying attention.. coz there is a lot to learn from this 'simple-looking' vid..
Guys i understand you. But i dont think he's teaching how to play the notes of the pentatonic scale, instead he's teaching how to apply the pentatonic scale in licks and grooves. I find it very helpfull. It think it will be a problem if you've not yet learnt the scale itself.
@MarloweDK can you please tell me WHEN to play this scale?... I mean, you´re playing the G major pentatonic scale, but the song must be in which chord?
@MarloweDK can you please tell me WHEN to play this scale?... I mean, you´re playing the G major pentatonic scale, but the song must be in which chord?
Can you tell me what you are doing at the end around 1:30, when you play chord/harmonic type things, i can't get my head around it! Thanks! love your stuff!
Thats a guitar doublestop using the Major pentatonic scale and playing the root in octave/hammer on to sixth to octave/fifth (the / means played as doublestop)
thanks! i didn't know what a doublestop was, never heard of that name.. :) now i do ^^ also i haven't seen you use 10th notes often, not your cup of tea? ex. A on the E string and C# on the G.
haha, i guess so :D so it's a doublestop. kk :) i also use it a bunch aswell, it sounds so good! i should pay more attention to the big dogs.! thanks again
I am talking about the Pentantonic scales. I don't I just don't think I know alot of theory. I have played for 2 years and have taken lessons for 9 months. I know some major scales with their pentatonics, one minor scale, some chords, I can kinda read notes and I know all the keys. Would you say I am a beginner in theory?
very nice bass line that leaves all the space to fill for vocals, keyboards, guitars and whatever: a dream for guys who always complain that you're playin' too many notes ;o) - may I ask what were the PU balance & tone settings for that very nice bass tone ?
no, just....no. I may not have played a rick but from what i've heard (not from other people, but from what i've heard myself) I can get a better tone out of my Squier P-Bass. But, i guess its all a matter of preference...
do you use any chorus pedal on this video? And if you do, what is it?

Reminds me of the Willie Week's solo on Donnie Hathaway's "Everything is Everything". Do you think you could do a lesson on that solo?
Would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

A bit distorted, too much hi gain on recording. But, roll back on front PU (jaco style) with added bass on pandora
