  • Holy Christ, to think that this is only 8 years away.. it sure will be nice to have flying cars. :-)

  • what a poor thing! the geisha ad xD she looks like a monkey

  • I remember having this trailer on my C&C Red alert cd-rom :)

  • the image of that japanese woman on the billboard has been burned into my brain from the teaser from red alert. it just looked so futuristic and iconic back then.

  • It was iconic for me too. When I first played Red Alert (this was before I saw the movie) I had no idea what the woman was advertising, and the image stuck with me.

Now I think it's probably something like Viagra.

  • @Mazryonh I think it's an ad for contraceptive pills...

  • @alleygh0st Could be. Given how irradiated everyone is it wouldn't be surprising if some women only wanted to conceive with those whose genes weren't badly damaged.

  • What's the eye supposed to be?

  • It looks like the eye of an eagle.

  • The massive amount of pollution in the air has created a pyroclastic effect in the clouds, creating storms with lighting. It also rains acid.

  • my god--shanghai today already reminds me of LA 2019

  • Where are the flaming smokestacks sticking out of skyscrapers in Shanghai?

Never got the reason why they were in the original film either.

  • I think those stacks are supposed to be burning up the kipple or something like that. To be fair to the film, Philip K Dick said he couldn't be more happy with its atmosphere and the vision (although he didn't like what they had done to Deckard and the storyline)

  • Excuse me, but what's kipple? The 2019 word for waste?

And is that big eye in this vid from a replicant or an animal? It looks like an eagle's eye or something.

  • I think in the book Dick uses it as a kind of metaphor for the degradation of society: so it's not quite waste but this formless natureless rubble that naturally results from everything just falling into disuse and decay. Physically it's the result of the war but metaphorically it's a natural product of the dystopia his characters inhabit. Sorry, don't know about the eye (perhaps a dog because in the game McCoy has a dog?)

  • I see. Nobody cares about Earth anymore because now they have other planets to trash and despoil (though I did remember a paragraph saying "Why the off-world blimp ads? It's only the junk you push; they would keep the good stuff for themselves").

Why did Deckard in the book buy a goat in the end? I didn't read all of the novel.

  • Well he always wanted a real animal because electric ones aren't enough of a status symbol (Deckard was terrified that someone would find out his sheep was fake) but I can't remember why exactly he bought a goat, been a few years since I read it. I think either he didn't have enough money for something else or he changed his mind when he saw the goat. Anyway, there is a good twist with that goat, maybe you should finish the novel if you have the time. Dick really was the best SF writer ever

  • kewl, I try go get this game, ignored it back then.

  • I found a copy at the local market for 1 euro a few days ago, and I remembered a review from my favourite gamemagazine back in 1997. It got a 9.8, so you can imagine I didn't hesitate to buy this game. I finished it once, but I'll play it again soon, of course. It's nothing short of a masterpiece, and ten years after the release it still managed to impress me with the graphics and sound.

  • where did i got that trailer?????

  • Thanks for uploading this. The guys behind the game must have really loved the film - the attention to detail is amazing. I can't believe the game is 10 years old, still worth playing today. Now where is my copy...

  • cool delta :)

  • Game and movie are both great.

  • Not only that, but Frank Klepacki from Westwood Studios recreated the movie's soundtrack for this game, all from scratch!

    I miss Westwood Studios . . .

  • Yeah, I miss this company too! One of my first pc videogames was Command and conquer for w95. Damn, Westwood really made some damnest good videogames that made jealousy consoles owners.

  • I wish Westwood didn't throw its lot in with EA. If it hadn't, it might still be around, instead of being eaten alive by EA.

Where is Lands of Lore 4, Nox 2, and Earth and Beyond 2?

  • Yeah, Westwood solds himself to the capitalism, like a whore. If westwood had reject EA offers, games such as you mentioned will be developed.Damn, I miss the good times!
