  • Holy shit, I've been a RHCP fan for ages but I had no idea that they've done this song before, fucking legendary! Just as good as John Lennon's version :D

  • two favorite bands- beatles and rhcp. perfect match

  • I've always loved Lennon's version for 40 years. This is the 1st time I've heard the Chili's. I think it's f'ing excellent. One of the best vocal performances I've ever heard from Kiedis. And the band's hot too. I noticed one small, not inappropraite alteration in lyrics: Kiedis turns "dope" in "Don't let them fool you with dope & cocaine" into "do-nope", as in "Dope, no thanks"!

  • I like the version where there is a guy named John in the band

  • Who's in guitar in thist song?

  • @ChaosWinter dave navarro

  • I think John would be proud such a kick ass band is covering his song, they def do this song justice.

  • This is so psychedelic

    I fucking love it

  • its like john lennon and hendrix love child

  • daves best work was when he was in rhcp, i think he did an amazing job. totally different style than John, but i love that album, very underrated...

  • @ceclovitchable No, his best work is on Nothing's Shocking and Ritual De Lo Habitual. For me, One Hot Minute proved more about the Chili Peppers as a band than it did necessarily for individual players except for Chad Smith, One Hot Minute has far and away his best drumming.

  • @NickODU2015 i agree with both of you guys. nothings shocking and RDLH are amazing albums and are so different than OHM but they are definitely daves best stuff.

its not like those JA albums were just about dave. the whole band proved to be awesome during that era too

  • this is so jimi hendrix .

    still, good song,

  • I found out that 9 people are Justin Bieber Fans

  • @TheBruegmann You are so funny! Never heard that one before! -.-

  • to bow or not to bow! hell yes they are ancient

  • Me gusta.

  • funny that when I first heard this song I totally disliked it, and now I'm in love with it. peppers rule

  • Thanks to John Lennon

  • Hendrix's style. Great - as every RHCP song.

  • Awesome vox from the swanster

  • I'm always surprised with the Red Hot Chili Peppers cover songs, they make it so brilliant and unique its so fascinating

  • 3:55

    thats what she said

  • this is a good cover but if this was 1989 and the chili peppers covered this song, it would be done at a much faster speed and a lot funkier. weird how things have changed

  • Why are they playing such a rocking song like Barry Manilow? WTF?

  • despite the wah this is a really good cover, could be a bit faster though, well done peppers

  • I just found out how great this cover is.

  • Never heard this before...

    HOLYSHIT ! ! ! ! !

  • Sargent Red Hot Chili Peppers Gnarly Cover Band.

  • This cover is amazing.

  • Comment removed

  • i love john but someone needs to photoshop daves head in here; as he's the one playing

  • great cover of a great john lennon song

  • This is one of my favorite john lennon's song...the lyrics...genius!!!

  • love it!!!!!!!! ;)

  • good cover

  • i love how this is like their heaviest song too

  • With all respect, but I like this version better

  • great cover

  • Vote John for Jesus

  • John Lennon + Red Hot Chili Peppers = WIN

  • Beatles have no rock peppers make this song

  • I love Red Hot Chili Peppers, but Lennon is better. I was expecting something with more feeling from Red Hot Chili Peppers, I got it from John.

  • I love Red Hot Chili Peppers but Lennon's is better. I was expecting something more angry from Red Hot Chili Peppers, I got it from John.

  • i am a big fan of John Lennon and the beatles, but i should say that i like this version more than john`s

  • @k0stil Id count this as a tribute to John Lennon so Im sure they prefer his version and honour it by embellishing it with guitars

  • ... For all thw worlds I found Out..

  • To all the people unsure if Dave is on this song well he is. This was one of the first songs recorded with Dave on guitar.

  • This is better than the original.

  • @tonemolester That's what you think.

  • @tonemolester , calm down. no need to get so upset. you have your opinion he has his grow up and accept it

  • esa es la guitarra de dave navarro ?,suena diferente .

  • i think the red hots can cover a brittany spears song and still make it sound fucking amazing

  • @Kickaholeinthesky88

yeah 'your so toxic' can totally imagine it.....

  • haha thats weird i was thinking the same song

  • wow

  • really good job.

  • @darkflamer23 You're a fucking idiot.

  • I really like this version. Great !

  • This was a tribute to John Lennon, it was never meant to be better than the original.

  • @jmizzleforizzle But is wasn't meant to be shit either, was it?

  • If you dont like it then dont say anything negative or you'll get chewed out..

  • @Donny1560 Why? Must opinions be consequently positive?

  • this guitar is navarro. it was recorded during the one hit minute era.

  • great cover!

  • i dont get why people say john is wayy better than Dave. Dave was just the right person for the band at the time, since john was getting off the drugs i think at the time. but john is truly the right gutiarist for the rhcp.

  • @FuzzyChurro yes thats true dave was a very good guitarist but he hasn't got this special secret chili pepper essence witch John or Hillel have/had.

  • @FuzzyChurro yep. there's no "better" in music anyway. just different.

  • @FuzzyChurro Seriously, Dave did a good job IMO. He at least tried and wanted to give 100%. John was interested in being an egocentric asshole just for the sake of being an egocentric asshole. Obviously he's completely changed since he's come back, but Dave did a great job and tried his hardest. By the end of his tenure, John was just half-assing all of his shows. As much as I love Frusciante, One Hot Minute is actually my favorite RHCP album.

  • Show this song to all your friends!

Or die, somewhere in the future!

  • haha ok I will. love this song too.RHCP is the 90' s best band of this kind. Unbelieveble many bands with the PIXIES n NIRVANA style emerged but no one like them. May be Urban Dance Squad? Here in Italy we adore a half french, half latin band called SWAVE. Seek their song "In the Future" is awesome too

  • they have been through that all:)

  • lol

  • each to their own...:)

  • john 3:16!

  • john is alive you dumbass hillel slovak has been dead for 20 years

get ur facts straight before you try to sound smart on youtube stupid fuck

  • i belive hes talking about john lennon u twat

  • You really are a dimwit, aren't you?

  • mitchcourtman - I have no idea how your comment has 5 thumbs up but it is one of the dumbest fucking things I've ever read.

  • John ftw!

  • Johnny F is better than Navarro easily - listen to Stadium Arcadium - first Chilis album I've realised John was in the band. His work is brilliant :)

  • @phantom69ufk Yeah John is ALL OVER that recording.. there are so many incredible guitar parts, solos, effects. I could listen to it on headphones over and over. One of my favorites is the guitar on "Strip My Mind" when the solo first comes in it sounds like a rocket ready for lift off!

  • beastly cover and OHM is an amazing album and Dave contributed a new style to the band something John can't do because Navarro is a more diverse guitarist. There both damn good guitarists though.

  • listen to bssm, then go to californication, then go to stadium arcadium and tell me those 3 albums arent sooo different.

John has so many different styles, you can check his own solo work to.

Navarro is a good guitarist, but he does more metal/hard rock and it shows in OHM

  • I will agree that californication and bssm are different but not stadium. What I meant though was that in OHM you had so many differents sounds in just one song while BSSM which is an album that I love has a pretty similar sound throughout with little change which isn't a bad thing because I love bssm and cali but I still will say that OHM is there most diverse album.

  • Yeah

    yeah

    ¡I Love rhc!

  • all songs i heard as a b-side of "one hot minute" are actually better than the really songs;)

  • I think Dave's better than frusciante(but the chili peppers with frusciante are better maybe)

  • Don't say shit... John is better than Dave alone or with the band...

  • I Found Out

  • Dave Navarro is playing guitar in this song

  • Yeah I agree man.

  • Actaully I think his vocals were the best in the 90s. But yeah this is with Dave.

  • The CD this song is on came out in 1995.

  • Plus it's not too demanding a song. I'm pretty sure this is Navarro, if not it is John circa Mother's Milk and the guitar sounds too much like Navarro, Froosh didn't use many effects back then.

  • this guitar sounds like John... a lot like john!!!

correct me if I'm wrong, first time I hear it but it sounds like him.

If not, Dave is way better at sounding like John than I thought.

  • Well this was released in 1995, so draw your own conclusions from that.

  • @ajfindlater and what would those be?

  • @Quex01 that dave is playing and it is awesome i suppose

  • @RogelioCelestino this is pretty simple ''Working Class Hero: A tribute to John Lennon is a 1995 album'' (extract for wikipedia) Frusciante left the peppers in 1994. I don't know if its is Dave or another intermedium guy, but I'm secure that it isn't Frusciante. There is why I don't like it (Im aren't saying that it's bad)

  • @manuman994 Frusciante left in 1992, and so.. if some one told you this was frusciante, you'd all of a sudden like it?

  • @RedHotChiliZephyrs No, when I listened the first time, I thought it was Frusciante, but I don't really liked it. It was extrange, because I ussually love Frusciante's songs. If some one made me believe that this is frusciante, I won't liked it also.

  • and anthony kiedis never sang like that in MM times

  • @killieboy93 very true, good point

  • I would bet this is not frusciante, and it definetly sounds like Navarro, too overloaded, too many heavy licks along with the lyrics, and the solo... it's just not frusciante :D

  • Also the wah pedal sounds very Navarro. John's is more subtle

  • ur actually right

  • yeah;)

  • fuck you

  • its not John its Dave Navarro

  • is jhon frusciante?

  • brilliant cover

  • It's WAY too slow for me.

  • yeah this is someone other than John Frusciante on the guitar... pretty obvious, none of his style is in there...

  • yes there fully is some frusciante sounding style in this song. but yeah its Dave Navarro

  • it's a great cover of a great song.

    -the end.

  • lennon wrote it, chilli peppers sang it because they wished they had wrote something like it and also becuase lennon is such a big influence to all real muscians. thanks john lennon and thanks r.h.c for bring lennons music to the younger generations.

  • fuck u twat! how old are u? this COVER is great, so and Chili Peppers are awsum too, but this version is just too lazy (sry)

Lennon is way better, but i love RHCP too

  • its a hard cover to master and i think their pretty close because john lennon had a certian anger and intensity in john lennon/plastic ono band album that no one could fullfill

  • cool cover

  • it's a good cover but it destroys the intensity and anger of the original. i wonder why they chose to do that.

  • The vocals on this track are outstanding.

The guitar, well the guitar speaks for itself.

Flea lays down such a fat groove

And Chad, as always, keeps it solid.

  • tell me, what makes them terrible? and dont give me some bullshit that they're out of key or out of tune, because they are hardly out. And if you listen to the original, Anthony is using the original vocal style that lennon uses so you can't diss that...id really like to hear your criticism, because im sure you could lay a better track down.

  • w le tette dei rhcp

  • Great Cover!!!!

What RHCP lineup is playing this and when??

    Where can I find it?

  • I'm not 100% sure but i think it was Navarro because the song was on "Working Class Hero: A Tribute to John Lennon" and that came out in 95, when they were with Navarro.

  • your correct ..its navarro

  • no, no it's not.

  • does anyone have this song?pleeeeeeease i would really like to have this song,it's amazing

  • this is an amazing cover...love this old school sound...woooooooow,got to have this song, amazing

  • good cover.

  • the fuck you was supposed to be a response to someone who said it was a bad cover.... my computer jsut sucks

  • i think rhcp did john lennon justice... good cover

  • the only thing you can say is... incredible...

  • When was this recorded?

  • A Lennon tribute album some years back called Working Class Hero. The Flaming Lips, Scott Weiland and George Clinton were just some of the great names on it.

  • oh okey thanks

  • non even come close to these guys though

  • when is that from? was it with Dave?

  • it was in 1995, so yeah.

  • It's ok, the original was already in their style (20 years before!), good b side anyway.

  • What's with the Wah wah. Jesus leave John Lennon's stuff alone!!!

  • hey it's better than crappy working class hero

  • Yup

  • calm down man, the whole point of a cover is to add ur style to a song, rhcp do the song justice cos whatever you want to say, its an amazing cover, and anyway, rhcp are much more funk based than lennon, so thats why theres loads of wah, either way it sounds great, it changes it up from the original and still sounds good, its better that its slightly different

  • bummer...

  • amazing solo. Definite highlight of the song!

  • Okay? I don't think it matters, as his music has obviously affected people anyway.

  • 1) it was a b side

    2) he wanted it like that..this about million times better than the orginal and i didnt like dave navarro at all. i would have loved to seen what john frusciante could have come up with for this song

  • do you even know who anthony kiedis is.

He is part of one of the most sucsecful bands ever. This is just his style of singing

  • Okay, calm down. Just as long as we all know he is singing off-key, generally flat. That's all. I'm not judging this as good or bad. Just out of tune singing.

  • ok fair enough

  • rhcp r one of the best bands around today even tho this song isnt too great.

  • this song is pretty good...although i see your point. but im used to anthony's vocals, and even if this was OHM era, navarro still makes it a good song. great cover.

  • GREAT !

  • i prefer the original ubt...not 2 bad

  • I like it very much!

  • great cover!
