Loved this album since the first time I heard it. I loved somebody writing, singing, raging about the pain I felt. That was then. Now I'm old enough to be the parents of every teenager and young adult alive. I've been where you are today. Life gets better.
This may sound square, but my best advice? Love the Who. But ALWAYS be true to yourself. Make good friends who will respect you first. Stay far away from drugs, no matter how you think they are. Get educated. Change the world.
I remember being 20 and me and a mate went to a party. He got off with a gir,l i found this Album and got pissed on my own listening to it on headphones. It seemed to fit my low mood.
I remember being 20 and me and a mate went to a party. He got off with a gir,l i found this Album and got pissed on my own listening to it on headphones. It seemed to fit my low mood.
I'm also a fourteen year old mod. Nothing has improved my life more. I have goals, an idea, and something in my life to love. It's my way of life. Keep the faith.
I've had psychiatric issues for as long as I can remember. I've been so lonely. When I first listened to this album, it felt so much like my own inner feelings were sung, I cried for a long time.
This whole album and film reflected how i felt as an early 20 yr old, times with mates, hating work, drugs and come downs , getting hurt by girls, all those growing up pains you experience. When i was down just listened to this album and it was like my THERAPY!!
at 2.37 God descended to Earth and sang - i heard this track the other day and nearly collapsed! Quadrophenia - like fine cognac - to be sipped and appreciated!
@benabz great comments!!!...I have loved this album since I was 15. Then I was young and wanted everything right now.Couldn't get it fast enough..couldn't listen to the music fast enough. Now that I'm older it is time to enjoy this Masterpiece a bit slower. I think I'll have that Cognac...Cheers, mate..!! and to the BOYS who were always there for me especially during my teens and 20's.. Pete, Roger, John (RIP) and Keith(RIP)
@benabz hahaha..could be. I think I have found alot of long lost family since I have posted on youtube. I guess we're part of The Who family...two more Whooligans..Cheers!!
@benabz You nailed it. Those verses starting at 2:36 are among the most powerful in any rock album that I am aware of. And what voice but Daltry's could bring it to it's full potential? Gives me chills.
Springsteen worte some pretty powerful phrases in Born To Run. The one in my mind is in the middle of Jungleland.
im a 14 yera old mod and i love quadrophenia the abum and the fime im going to get my suit done today im tall for my aye so its ok i got my vintig fredperey on and my leivs going out whit my mate need a hare cut neat or fhetoed???????
@JasonBonitati yer i see mods all the time but i see a lot of rockers to but we are still arand i was in school and two mods whent past on scooters the onley problim is that the fashon is more dera today then it was in the 60-70s and we are not alawed to have fox talles on the end of are scooters if it is on a wiyer and we have to fined good suit shops and vitig shops for are polos and livies yer but mods are still alife just not as much as cavas lol
@robfrommodzine yer im a mod and a lot of my friends are my friends dad is like a wall good mod and my over friends dad is a 60s mod my friend is like 30 so it is ok
@JasonBonitati just search for scooter rallies and youll see how many mods turn up at those evnts there are thousands mods being one of many kinds of people who ride a scooter ,its massive in the states aswell ,in fact look up on you tube for the quadraphenis stage show(the u.k. one)and youll see a load of mods trun up opening night
@JasonBonitati Quite the contrary... They somewhat still exist, but they remain hidden. I'm actually a mod myself. Don't believe me? Try checking out my video on my channel. You'll see the the bike in one of 'em. Well. I'm around my 20's and I still consider myself a mod. It's about being freakin' free mate! :D
@JasonBonitati haha mod has gone where it belongs under ground. im happy teens are finding the mod image cuz lets be honest we feel better knowing we're different. in a strange way, a bit like quadrophenia :P
@Mods130 you're going to get your zoot suite? don't forget to get a vespa or lambretta and your parka. we are mods we are the we are we are we are the mods!
@fasioletti hi i love that you did this as my new parkar is comeing today and when im 16 geting a lambretta its a bit like jimmys my mum hase allredey got it and i have zoot suites. and do you think a bule vinteg fred perry will look good whit a vinteg parker whit pashes livis abd chesy boots coz im not to shore about the boots like there like mod ones so it eill look ok?
@fasioletti thats what i was like but ther like shoes there just coled boots thay look good put them on and it look mod still but i still going whit shoes thank (;
@Mods130 Keep the faith young Mod. There is so many Mod bands out there, with new stuff and plenty of people like yourself. Join modzine on facebook, which I run. It'll keep you upto date with mod events.
@robfrommodzine thanks for the halep its hareder to be a youn mod then eney over fashon wall mods more then a fasiont to me like most mods. and what makes it bad for me is that my unkes is a proper rocker and i have to see him a lot so yer that sucks
I've had enough of livin'... I've had enough of dyin'... I've had enough of smilin'... I've had enough of cryin'... I've taken on the high roads... I've squandered and I've saved... I've had enough of childohood... I've had enouugh of graaaaades!... VERY CATHARTIC WORDS!
Quadrophenia helped me get through my teen years. F***ing awesome! So many memories. Now as I listen, in comparison to today's music, it kinda sounds dated with an almost country twang. I hope the newer generation can really take a listen to all this LP has to offer. The feelings are STILL there and real for me & always will be. AMEN!
I wouldn't say the country feel dates it - I think it give it layers. And the country suggested by the banjo is pretty much India, by the way. I love it too, and think it holds up very, very well.
This is so powerful - Entwistle's lead bass, manic, excessive drumming by Moon, amazing vocals and searing guitars.
I shocked myself by pretty much approving of Eddie Vedder's take on this - sounds like Daltrey half an octave lower.
Damn! You're good at expression! Layers! Fantastic! India...wow, I feel stupid! I shall have to really give another listen (even though I know the entire LP by heart!) to check that out! Love how you describe the music!
Vedder's version? Will have to check that out as well.
@daremejustabit im 14 and love the who and quadrophenia is my favit abum and film this ablum is haping me too all the songs os today are not good this is good muisc
@daremejustabit Sounds dated, maybe to you, but to me the whole album sounds so fresh, compared to the one beat mainstream bullshit, and the emotion conveyed by Daltrey in I've had enough in particular on the album, sounds raw and very true. A Sublime Album and the £27 I spent last week on the LP best money I ever spent
one of the best albums ever. i havent listened to it in a while because i got sick of it from listening to it too many times but its now refreshing to hear
