I had this game I bought it the day it came out....and then the unthinkable happened.....I let someone hold it and that was it. So the next time all my gamers someone asks to hold a game say FUCK YOU AND GET YOUR OWN!!! And I never got a chance to finish this bad boy either
This was a PS2 launch game, it came out the same week the PS2 did.
These graphics are amazing for such an old game, and who cares about graphics anyways? I loved this game, and the box it comes in is all metallic and sexy as fuck.
I remember one of these games let you use a... I think it was a Fuel Air Explosive. I remember a mission where you had to go through a small tunnel to face 4 elite aerial sniper AWGS on the other side. At least if you didn't have said explosive. Then you could just shoot it through the tunnel and take them all out. Very rare item pickup though.
This game was AWESOME!!!and then the ASSHOLES that made this game did Gungriffon Allied Strike for the Xbox, that game SUCKED how the hell do they do that
I Actually Think This Game Isn't That Bad Its Just That You Have To Get Used To The Controls and If You Have Then Its Actually a Fun Game To Play Once in a While I personally Enjoyed It Because I Figured Out The Controls.
@LewisLongshanks I just got the PC version of Mechwarrior 2, and it's going to be a pain in the ass to get to run on XP. I also just recently got the PS1 version, but it's a completely different game from the PC one.
Oh totally. I only ever played it on Windows 95. I may investigate the Saturn version eventually but I doubt it'll match the original Gungriffon being a PC port and all.
@teh2Dgamer haha i use to have mech warrior 2 on pc when i was a kid, great game too! i had hours of fun! i wish you good luck and hope you get it working!
i wish they would make this game for the ps3 but much much better games like this are the reason that a bought a playstation back in the day i bought the ps3 for god of war 3 and what a disappointment at least call of duty is good
This game was kinda weird for me... in some ways, I liked it better than the Saturn predecessor, and in some ways, it didn't measure up. The controls were a bit smoother, but, I dunno, you kinda lost that "Big-Heavy-Military Machine" feel from the first. It was the only PS2 launch-windo game I had any interest in, though, I'll give it that much.
This game only has a handful of missions that last a fews minutes each, yet I but in over 20 hours of gameplay. Pretty amazing game. I could play this game forever as long as they released new maps and stuff.
Blaze is a sequel. I believe it's the third game in the series (but don't quote me on that because I can;t keep track of all the Japanese games out there, so there could be more). I too have the original on the Saturn. I've actually got a vid of the Saturn version posted as well.
@teh2Dgamer There were two Gun Griffon games on the Sega Saturn, Gun Griffon and Gun Griffon 2 (Only got a JP release IIRC, saw pictures for it in the official Saturn magazine in the UK). Gun Griffon Blaze was on the PS2, and Gun Griffon Allied Strike was on the X-Box I believe.
@FuseboxEllen I knew about GG2 (Saturn Import), but I've lost track of the series lately. I'll have to look into what else has been released in the series despite that I vaguely remember the more modern ones getting horrid reviews. I don't care about reviews though.
This game is a blast to play and it actually uses both dual shock analogue sticks properly unlike most games. However, the only bad thing about it (and this is pretty major) is that it is way too short with only about half a dozen missions. I was left wanting more but oh well it only cost me £4
Love your video's, brings back a ton of memories of games that I had long forgotten about or never got around to playing. You should do some videos on: Trapt, Magna Carta, Romancing Saga, and Jade Cocoon 2, all of which I think are grossly underrated games.
I really wanted to enjoy this game because I absolutely loved the first two games on the SEGA Saturn. But for some reason I just cannot get used to the controls which is a pity because it looks really good. Maybe I'll give it another try, though ;)
The controls are pretty tough. You can change the controls to another preset that's more similar to the Saturn's control where triangle moves forward, and circle backs up.
Getting used tot he controls is definitely the hardest part.
I demand a SEQUEL! This is like a first person version of an armored core game! and I've always wanted one of those! I'd settle for a remake though! on one of the next gen systems, it could be AWESOME! The only reason I stopped playing this game is because I got STUMPED!
I believe there was a next gen sequel. It didn't score very well, but that doesn't mean anything anymore, because most "professional" reviewers wouldn't know a good game if it kicked them in the junk.
Do NOT get me started, most of them either complain about NOTHING, or they act as if the game is so good you should give away your first born child just so that you'll get to play the DEMO!
This game was awesome, it was WAY too short though... :-/

Man I used to love this game when I owned it as a young kid. There was something so cool about M1 Abrams and Ka-50s fighting next to giant mechs.
I hope Amazon still has a copy in stock.
