I played it so much as a kid and even though its apparently a HD remake, i dont see many changes at all, the graphics havent improved at all, i dont think it needs to improve.

The reviewer wasn't reffering to a french cultural refference in the actual game and that's what made me confused. usually americans reffer to french in a humorous manner.

@erobianrat Yeah, people forget about some of the more artistic games that swallow up modern games easily. Like, "The Longest Journey" Even fallout as popular as it became with Fallout 3, people still don't appreciate how amazing 1 and 2 are. Simply because it isn't as EASY or because of the GRAPHICS. Intelligent games get swept under the table to be replaced by Madden games every year, or any annual (same ol crap) sports game.
ROFL originally released on the PC and was under rated because it was more of an engaging and in depth game that average console gamers could process.

@causeforchaos I know, dude. If next-gen gets much worse than this gen in terms of single player gameplay, I might not even buy BG&E 2 just because I won't have a console to play it on. RPGs are about done for, there are hardly any big-name platformers, and shooters are all multiplayer, as well as fighters being pretty much the same across the board. Most of the 'good' games this generation are only 'good' because of the graphics & cinematics, multiplayer, OR (not and) storytelling.
@mepopines I love the Uncharted series, but it's really only the cinematics that make it great. Even the gameplay is 'cinematic,' if you will. All you're doing for the platforming is guiding Drake, and the puzzles USUALLY are so simple that you're just running around doing it rather than using true gameplay to do it. Basically, what I'm saying is that Uncharted is 'movie awesome'; not so much 'game awesome'. The shooting is done very well, however, except for pretty bad pacing in the first game.
i feel you. i love me all sorts of games. im no fan-boy of one series or console. i have all.but uncharted(specifically 2) was just the best example of an all around awesome game. start to finish this generation.even 1 was great for when it came out. im honestly stoked for "ni no kuni"..and the new south park game.haha

@FranticSelf 'Cause no one else had it, so if we even saw it in stores, we just passed it up because we didn't want to spend our money on a game we knew nothing about, while God of War, Grand Theft Auto, and other popular games were on our minds.
Game critics like IGN and gamestop have 3 major flaws.
1. They are in the developers pocket, if they give games a review lower than a 7 they will simply not get free samples to review anymore which costs them. this turns the entire scale upside down. Bye bye 1-10 scale.
2. Games are reviewed for very specific variables but the overall fun factor of a game is often overlooked.
3. New games are often cut down when they don't do the exact same thing as the market leader. Like we want game-clones
Weird how there is like 30 Final Fantasy games and we've been waiting 8 years for a Beyond Good and Evil 2, which in my opinion BG&E kicks the crap out of Final Fantasy.
So sick of FPS bring back the old third person puzzle action adventure games like BG&E and same for racing games who cares about realistic simulation racing games I want Fzero style games that one was fun.

@xFIRERUSHx Sorry, you're right, they gave it a 9.5. I think that's still too high when the average reader score on IGN is 8.6 and the average reader score on metacritic is 7.6.
@ICodeInDreams Well reader scores, not just for halo 3, for pretty much every game out there is low simply because of trolls. Look at the reader score for say, Galaxy 2 or Twilight princess. Halo 3 is a really great game. It deserves a 9.5 IMO, but I also think Beyond Good And evil does too. I think the reason they gave the HD version lower than the original 2003, is because it doesnt add much, which is true sadly and the camera still bothers me, but i love BG&E and I REALLY WANT BG&E2!
@xFIRERUSHx I don't agree that reader scores are low because of trolls, I think they're more accurate than critic's scores. I think LoZelda:TP deserved its 9.1 and SMG2 deserved its 9.4, and BG&E certainly deserved its reader score of 9.5 instead of the 8.6 critic's score (metacritic).
I personally didn't think Halo 3 added very much from H2, other than the aiming helper which made headshots too easy. Sure Halo 3 was fun, but I didn't feel like it was worth $60 more when it was mostly the same.

@ICodeInDreams I loved the new footage. That teaser is actually all in-game engine! And I did like the new releastic designs of Pey'j and Jade. I really want to see what Double H and what those orphans now look like with the new releastic art style. And the thing with the Domz infection of Pey'j's hand is probably some sort of big twist. Like remember when you found out that Pey'j was the chief of the Iris Network. I was like "WHAAAAAT THE FUCK!" And then I started laughing reaaaaally hard.

@Rethidus Jak and Daxter is NOT underrated man! It got like 4 sequals! Jak was pretty much Naughty Dogs mascot until Nathan Drake came along. Beyond Good and Evil really is underrated though...

I also started gaming this generation, like alot more into it, not playing games in general. I bought this game a week ago, and I love it! The game has this charm that you definitely don't see in games nowadays, and its very fun. I am definitely looking out for Beyond good and evil 2, especially since it was recently confirmed that it is still in development!!!

Sadly never played this game on my PS2 eventhough it was a game that I was intereested in. Wasn't going to pass it up this time though, downloaded it not too long ago and don't regret it one bit, awesome game. Holds up very well and is still one of the better games of the last decade. Hopefully we get the sequel at some point fairly soon.
short game but for $10 it's worth it. It's a cult classic and the remastered version looks great in 1080p! (Try comparing it the GameCube version played on the Wii on the same TV to really see the difference.) Plus, digital copies can be returned or sold for money, so you have to keep it and play it again. 9.0 out of 10, only because it's a 8 year old game.

I completely forgot why I liked games in the first place - the story! The reason for this being that there have been hardly any games released lately that have a story line with such strong characters and imagination as in BG&E. I just hope Ubisoft don't try to incorporate any competitive online multiplayer elements other than leaderboards, although those fail completely in BG&E HD... 2-player online co-op could work nicely but I feel there'd be complications with photography etc.
Im just hoping the storys as good as the last game and that of course since this is a much bigger game probably we get to travel in a much bigger area :3
Since the last game was very linear like every area you beat you'd get just the right amount of points to get the next upgrade for your hovercraft so you can go to the different areas that only that upgrade you got could get you too that new level.
Lets just hope that we get more freedom next game and follow what path that "we" want
@Juledass95 When you download the trial, you're downloading the whole game but it will only let you play up to a certain point. The full game upgrade is a very small file, and basically just unlocks the read of the game. So yes, you need both.
This is the BEST game in the world, i buyd this in 2004, but my ps2 gone broke so i decided to buy it in HD for the PS3 and i didn't had doubts

This game is a peice of art no matter what people say.
It did many things before most games.
Its graphics were and still are amazing, even in the original, the graphics dont seem much different to the 'HD' remake.
This game is worth £30+
So why not pick up the HD remake for a measly £10?
I dont see why they've done that, hopefully the money they earn, they make a sequel.

Game critics like IGN and gamestop have 3 major flaws.
1. They are in the developers pocket, if they give games a review lower than a 7 they will simply not get free samples to review anymore which costs them. this turns the entire scale upside down. Bye bye 1-10 scale.
2. Games are reviewed for very specific variables but the overall fun factor of a game is often overlooked.
3. New games are often cut down when they don't do the exact same thing as the market leader. Like we want game-clones

I mean it's a good score but come on now REALLY, You guys gave GTA4 a perfect 10 and we all know it's not a perfect, this descreves a 9.5! i'm so tried of amazing, original & creative games like this being over looked cuz of overrated FPS games, I'd say Beyond Good & Evil is one of the greatest video games of all time!

@xFIRERUSHx Sorry, you're right, they gave it a 9.5. I think that's still too high when the average reader score on IGN is 8.6 and the average reader score on metacritic is 7.6.

@ICodeInDreams Well reader scores, not just for halo 3, for pretty much every game out there is low simply because of trolls. Look at the reader score for say, Galaxy 2 or Twilight princess. Halo 3 is a really great game. It deserves a 9.5 IMO, but I also think Beyond Good And evil does too. I think the reason they gave the HD version lower than the original 2003, is because it doesnt add much, which is true sadly and the camera still bothers me, but i love BG&E and I REALLY WANT BG&E2!

@xFIRERUSHx I don't agree that reader scores are low because of trolls, I think they're more accurate than critic's scores. I think LoZelda:TP deserved its 9.1 and SMG2 deserved its 9.4, and BG&E certainly deserved its reader score of 9.5 instead of the 8.6 critic's score (metacritic).
I personally didn't think Halo 3 added very much from H2, other than the aiming helper which made headshots too easy. Sure Halo 3 was fun, but I didn't feel like it was worth $60 more when it was mostly the same.

@ICodeInDreams I loved the new footage. That teaser is actually all in-game engine! And I did like the new releastic designs of Pey'j and Jade. I really want to see what Double H and what those orphans now look like with the new releastic art style. And the thing with the Domz infection of Pey'j's hand is probably some sort of big twist. Like remember when you found out that Pey'j was the chief of the Iris Network. I was like "WHAAAAAT THE FUCK!" And then I started laughing reaaaaally hard.

I just started playing the game today! I am already considering it for one of my favorite games. It feels like Metal Gear meets Kingdom Hearts combat system meets Pokemon Snap meets comedy.

@Rethidus Jak and Daxter is NOT underrated man! It got like 4 sequals! Jak was pretty much Naughty Dogs mascot until Nathan Drake came along. Beyond Good and Evil really is underrated though...

I also started gaming this generation, like alot more into it, not playing games in general. I bought this game a week ago, and I love it! The game has this charm that you definitely don't see in games nowadays, and its very fun. I am definitely looking out for Beyond good and evil 2, especially since it was recently confirmed that it is still in development!!!

Sadly never played this game on my PS2 eventhough it was a game that I was intereested in. Wasn't going to pass it up this time though, downloaded it not too long ago and don't regret it one bit, awesome game. Holds up very well and is still one of the better games of the last decade. Hopefully we get the sequel at some point fairly soon.

short game but for $10 it's worth it. It's a cult classic and the remastered version looks great in 1080p! (Try comparing it the GameCube version played on the Wii on the same TV to really see the difference.) Plus, digital copies can be returned or sold for money, so you have to keep it and play it again. 9.0 out of 10, only because it's a 8 year old game.

the only frustrating thing 'bout this game is, that BG&E2 isn't released yet...
and the camera sometimes...
i'd give the game 9.5 - only because of the camera, otherwise there would be 10/10

I completely forgot why I liked games in the first place - the story! The reason for this being that there have been hardly any games released lately that have a story line with such strong characters and imagination as in BG&E. I just hope Ubisoft don't try to incorporate any competitive online multiplayer elements other than leaderboards, although those fail completely in BG&E HD... 2-player online co-op could work nicely but I feel there'd be complications with photography etc.

Im just hoping the storys as good as the last game and that of course since this is a much bigger game probably we get to travel in a much bigger area :3
Since the last game was very linear like every area you beat you'd get just the right amount of points to get the next upgrade for your hovercraft so you can go to the different areas that only that upgrade you got could get you too that new level.
Lets just hope that we get more freedom next game and follow what path that "we" want

Like in Dead Rising. I love doing stuff like that :D taking pictures of like an explosion occuring or a wanted person trading drugs with som1.

@Juledass95 When you download the trial, you're downloading the whole game but it will only let you play up to a certain point. The full game upgrade is a very small file, and basically just unlocks the read of the game. So yes, you need both.
