The Balfour Declaration was simply an acknowledgment of what had by then become obvious -- that the Jewish population in that area of Palestine was exploding, and that a separate Jewish state was called for, since it made no sense for Jews by to be governed by anti-Semitic Arabs (which was prophetic -- the British-appointed mufti in the 30's was complicit in the Holocaust). But the territory had been under British control for quite some time.

The British didn't establish it. The Balfour Declaration was a precursor to the 1947 UN partition, yes, but it was not legally binding. A Palestinian state was to be made, as well, but the Palestinians didn't want it -- indeed, they didn't want a state until the 60's. Before then, they wanted to be part of Jordan or Syria.
Washington DC is neither majority-Muslim (the land partitioned into Israel was majority-Jewish), nor are Muslims there unjustly governed (as Jews were by the Palestinians).

It was not their (jews) land. Bottom line, you cannot establish a large population somewhere and then demand your own state. If that were the case, every ethnic group in the US would be demanding their own state.

I couldn't agree with moblou more. I hope Hillary puts her name in the nomination. I think what happened to her with the delegates in nominating was complete bullshit. Now I hear Obama is asking for full delegates in Ohio and Florida. In the primary, Obama did not win Florida. Hillary did. She also won California. Can someone tell me how in the hell the votes got split between both candidates? Obama's experiences cannot compare to Hillary. In all honesty, Obama is just a good speaker.
