BRILLIANT! MUSIC LIKE THIS IS NON EXISTENT WE WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER ROGER HODGSON ENJOY EVERYTIME YOU GO SEE HIM A PURE GENIUS! GO ROGER GO! WE LOVE YOU!
in 1974 i was 21 when i heard bloody well right on the radio and bought the crime of the century lp. i got goose bumps when i heard this song. i still do!
Normally I would agree with the ixnay on the sound delay thing but i love this song - 1 of my all time faves - it was eerie and trippy and made it singular. then it was OVERDONE all over the place! I like it without the sound delay also by the way and the song certainly doesn't need any technical (albeit antiquated now) whistles and bells - his voice and the melody work great all by themselves. BAM BAM too frightening - the fires becoming colder...
In my opinion, this is one version of Hide In Your Shell, that really recalls the rock era of Supertramp. Since a decade or two, Roger really transformed his own songs; in this title, he usually adds a delay effect on his voice (which I hate). Also, his digital piano contribute a lot by changing the sound of the piano.
If I could have any influence on Roger, I would ask him to just try to bring back his old Wurlitzer electric piano, and for this song, bring back the back vocals at the end!

His music is the best kept secret on the planet. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is missing a legend named Roger Hodgson.

@irfrapg don't know your age but from 1967 to the early 80's there is a whole wealth of fantastic music to chose from between Motown and Rock & Roll
