  • indians are so poor that they cant afford bigger shields? :P

  • just do it! ;D

  • Very cool.

  • Does anyone else imagine Indiana Jones showing up?

  • @swatdiver1 Not until you mentioned it. They're not that racist.

  • @96parmeet I've had live blades swung at me many times. Not choreographed.

  • @BigP103 These guys might have too. Getting in knife fights can be a real thing in their part of the world and I THINK they are supposed to have a knife on them at all time. Yeah, it is coriographed but these swords, styles, and choreography have been around as long (longer?) then many others. I'm partial to European styles of swords/blades but I don't shit on people who practice this, kendo, etc.

  • nice clothes... espacially the nice traditional shoes...

  • Choreographed bullshit. Let them kill themselves.

  • @BigP103

U dont have the guts to do this stuff in your whole life

  • Darn it. Clicked the vid for "Sick Swordmanship" ><

  • This is lame, they stand so far away, that even when someone misses the buckler (which actually happens) he is far away from hitting the other.

  • @bansheemopar glad I am not the only one to see that

  • anybody else think this just looks like cat fighting with swords? i mean, all sword fighting when it is real technique kind of looks derp, but this more so than usual

  • Carrying on 1000 year old traditions... in Nikes.

  • My best friend is sikh. And for some reason they all play runescape.

  • deadly! Beautiful form

  • I don't want to seem like an ass... but is there a reason why they just seem to be just attacking? i mean it looks somewhat choreographed.... sorry if its rude...

  • @mikeymarshful

Hey Mikey, no offense taken. They are attacking each other while defending at the same time. The Sikh form of combat/swordsmanship isn't choreographed, although it might seem like that at times. It is very real. One time the other person's sword hit my friends hand and chopped off his finger. Luckily the surgeons were able to stitch it back together.

  • @NismoCA Oh is that so? Alright thanks for letting me know. So they are like forms for combat?

  • @mikeymarshful

Yeah, the Sikh martial arts tradition is known as Gatka and it consists of many different forms of combat such as sword fighting, archery, horsemanship, etc. Check out the other videos on youtube, I think you'll like them.

  • @mikeymarshful

It is choreographed, calling it like you see it isn't rude.

It's basically a street side show I think.

  • @poplug That's not choreographed, but does have a set of rules, methinks.

    - They stand far away, so they don't hit even though the blow passes beside the buckler.

    - They strike in turns.

    - They don't parry with their swords at all.

  • yeaaah !!

  • Nice, looks like some of the stuff we used to do in my kali silat class

  • Very Cool!

  • Traditional Sikh costume + Tennis Shoes = Win

  • you bluddy racist gore eh sade tarm a koy khel ne ya

  • Wow, these guys are bad ass! Not since my trip to Scotland have I been so impressed by men in skirts.

  • So many racists comments lol

  • sikhs in action , i love them,

  • wheres Indiana Jones..??

  • I love their tennis shoes.

  • you stupid idiot thats india and they have much better stuff than this shit indian martial arts started kungfu budha was a hindu

and you see all that prince of persia shit thats from constant rivalry between ancient hindus and muslims

  • Shahbash Sikhs

  • sinbad ftw

  • Shit, even the middle east has badass shit like this. That gives them respect.

  • Thats not the middle east; its INDIA.

  • Comment removed

  • from a world history perspective Caucasians have done committed more acts of terror (whether against themselves or others) than most races combined.

  • lol, have anyone notice that they're wearing snickers?

  • Love the trainers!

  • I liked the fluidity of the sword strokes-a product of skill. Been a student of the sword for a long time. Great bit here, thanks.

  • I saw a message from some ignorant hindu kid who obviously knows very little about sikhism when this vid comes up on google. If you want a sikh to come to Handsworth and kick your ass, my father would have you on the floor in 2 seconds flat.. he's a sikh and he's 79. Peace out.

  • Sadly, as showy and cool as these guys look, it is obvious to me that neither are actually trying to hit each other. Great performance though.

  • duh

  • because its a performance....look up nihang gatka there real fightng in htere...and other gatka vidoes

  • Yeah, it's a bit sad, since true swordsmanship is so much more fun to watch.

  • OBVIOUSLY there not gonna hit each other, "woops there goes an arm"

dont expect to see a rea swordfight on youtube, noone will be ready to record it

  • That's not what I meant, i just was referring to actual swordsmanship instead of what is demonstrated in this. it's a martial art that has been lost, but is being reinvented. so they would basically be sparring.

  • There is sparring where you attempt to hit the other but you practice with wooden implements. There is a video titled Nihang Gatka where they actually are going for blows.

  • we all fall into 1 path it is just that we take different paths and do not understand each other

  • OH JUST SHUT THE FUCKING HELL UP!

  • FUCKING AWESOME =D

  • Ceremonial swordplay, they're skilled though.

  • Dude! That was Awesome Sword Fightin'!

  • haha wow what ever turns you on ;)

  • I am learning this.... its actually really hard :(

    and anyways.... sikhi is GREAT!!!

and you should know that VERY WELL

  • dumbass

  • pretty tight, i would be scared to be the people in the crowd

  • sikhs rule!! awesome video!!

  • these were not largely used in battle, the sikhs use big ones in battle :D

  • This is not the message we deliver to people. Sikhs are just as equal as everyone else. Thats what Guru Nanak Dev Ji preached. Don't abolish his teachings with filthy words. Embrace the world and its people as if their your family, my fellow Sikh.

  • I think its kind of worded wrong Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji came up with the philosopy of equality which was not seen in feudal India i.e. via the caste system or geneder ineqaulities introduced by the Moghuls. Guru Nanak introduced the idea of equality reguardless or gender, race, religion, caste etc, and through this Sikhs are taught tollerence and respect of man reguardless and it is why at Sikh Temples anyone is allowed access and given free food and accomidation reguadless of background.

  • lol i agree but sheesh

  • Y r their shields the size of frisbees?

  • Nobody is shooting arrows at them. That's y.

  • for fast and effective blocking

  • I still think Id like a little bigger shield

  • Except that carrying one while trying to move light is inefficient and resulted, at least in europe, in many men simply abandoning theirs by the end of a long hard march through unpleasant terrain. Also, remember that with close in combat, what you can't see can kill you. And shields are rarely transparent. However, as mounted soldiers have proved, a large shield isn't bad-- so long as you can /move/ it.

  • Uhhh, I don't think that bit about Europeans abandoning their shields after a march is true. The Normans were well known for their large Kite shields and certainly traveled all over Europe, and the Mediterranean. Same goes for the Franks when they went on the Crusades. A large shield is highly effective, and doesn't obstruct your vision nearly as much as you'd think(After all, you can look OVER it). Full plate armor replaced shields, as they became redundant to the ones who could afford them.

  • The advantage to a Buckler is that it's easy to transport, and is incredibly fluid in a duel.

  • Not a shield, its called a "buckle"... well, in Europe anyway. I don't know what they call them.

  • look at the croud

    they are fuckin so close,,,

  • I have great respect for the Sikhs. They have produced noble warriors and knights

  • so true, anyone who devotes their whole life to the training of traditional arts deserves a great amount of respect

  • yah me too

  • such moves! truely a beutifull style

  • Amazing moves... I never thought those small sheilds were useful, but wow they really do the job

  • I'm guessing you dont like Sikhs!! Shame, I think we wouldve got on!! lol

  • As a westerner(Catholic, German/Italian, and ethnically Ashkenazi) I have to say that I have nothing but upmost respect for the Sikh religion and its people. From what I've seen, they're fierce warriors, but who do not let their own strength rule them. I say this as a sort of way to try and 'cancel out' the other person's comments. Probably futile, I know.

  • KaderLXM Muslims the world most hated race.U will drag us out.Come on if u have strength in ur arms.sikhs the Lions don't ask for permission. They capture n rule if needed.Come on show ur strength if u have any u Pussy Jackal self suicidal asholes.Good to see u asholes dying everyday in Iraq n else where.Keep this attitude n remain isolated.Even god also throw such asholes to wild animals tearing them apart flesh by flesh.

  • Rasgeet Singh and Jattmafia313 what happened to:

Fareeda buleh da pulah karh gusaa maan nu hud(t)ai

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Ang 1381

It was written by Baba Fareed Ji, a Muslim. At the Gurudwara when you mutha-tekh to Maharaj you also mutha-tekh to whoever wrote the Bani. So please be careful when posting comments as you have singh in your name, so youre an ambassador of the Sikhs.
