I finally got my copy of First of May today. Someone special to me, the young man who portrayed Sebastian (Matt Zoppe) passed away December 22, 2007 - so this movie is truly a treasure added to my dvd library. An excellent film.

A staggering achievement of cinematic excellence. Citizen Kane, Godfather, First of May (not in any particular order). This movie belongs in the conversation. The First of May is not just a "family movie", it is a work of art, a masterpiece if you will. From Joe DiMaggio's breathtaking portrayal of Joe Dimaggio, to everyone else, this movie has everything a lover of aesthetically pleasing cinema will love. WAIT!!! Did I mention Joe

No sarcasm here, only admiration. I agree, Joe is brilliant. If YouTube did not cut off 85% of my first response you would see that I go into great detail explaining how I believe that the company that is putting this fine piece out (QuestarEntertainment?) is really bringing me back to the golden years of my life with this release. Mickey Rooney! Julie Harris! Joe Dimaggio! ..Goodness Gracious! Its like 1954 all over again. And I remember 1954 vividly. It didnt win "Best of the Fest" for nothing

I am so excited that this movie is coming out to DVD! It's such a wonderful story and is really one of those great family movies that warms the heart. Thank you Questar for, once again, making quality family programming available.
