Like NYOIL said, if lyrical rap was popular AND promoted by the major record labels, the young kids would be forced to put out better rap.

But when the northern record companies went down South to prevent independent labels from making all the money in the region, THEY were the ones who put promotional money behind the bullsyht club songs.

MCs like Papoose, Royce da 5-9, Chino XL and Jean Grae should be megastars, but the old head rappers didn't want to give up their spot and help them out.

Soulja Boy was 16 - 17 years old, when he made "Crank Dat". At that age, he isn't even supposed to be talking about anything of substance. He would really be fake, if he came off gangsta. So he went the "fun route".

And on the flip side, the majority of "old head" rappers almost flat out refuse to guide and collaborate with the younger kids or underground artists, to get a more diverse message out.

If non-talented rappers are gonna come out with a radio HIT that embraces ignorance, can they atleast make the beat and production hot??
